Marko Murray

6'3 210
22 years old
University of Washington
Ratings: C+ A C+ C C- B
Strengths: Marko Murray has always been the best player on the floor. In high school, he was named Mr. Basketball in Seattle and in college, he led the Nation in scoring as a junior and senior for the Washington Huskies. Murray averaged 33 points per game as a senior, shooting 47% from the field and 43% from the three point line. He's drawn comparisons to Stephen Curry, Jimmer Fridette, and JJ Reddick with his dominance in college, but he might be better than any of those players. Murray is a lights out shooter who can score at will. He has a good first step and is also solid at finishing around the hoop. Though he is better off the ball, Murray is an outsstanding passer with excellent court vision. He is an above average perimeter defender.
Weaknesses: We have seen this type of player before, but the question remains: will his game translate? Murray has never been the quickest or the biggest guard, and there are questions about his athleticism. He is short for a shooting guard and slow for a point guard. Also, he will have TO problems if he is moved to point guard long-term. On the defensive side of the ball, Murray's lack of athleticism really hurts. Though he is a solid perimeter defender, he does not get many steals and is definitely not a stopper.
Overall: Murray should be good, it is all just a matter of how good. He could be a modern day version of Pistol Pete, or just a good combo guard in an outside offense.
