Bio: Walker was on the cover of Sports Illustrated when he was 12 and has been hyped as the next great big man. He is versatile, coachable and humble. One of the reasons that his story is so intriguing is that he escaped from the Children of God cult at age 11 and was adopted by foster parents. While he was in the cult, he would sneak away and play basketball even though it was forbidden. While he has a dark past, it doesn't seem to have affected him as a person. At California, where Walker attended to stay with his foster parents, he averaged 27 ppg (leading the nation) with 8.1 rpg and 1.5 bpg.
Strengths: Walker has an incredible array of post moves and an effective hook shot that he has nearly perfected. He is a good shot blocker and has a high basketball IQ. He is fast as a gazelle and gets up and down the court with ease. He is a gym rat by day and breaks down tapes by night. Walker is an improving rebounder, but needs to bulk up if he wants to average double digits.
Weaknesses: He often tries to do too much with the ball in his hands and turns the ball over. He is not a very crisp passer and prefers to score on offense. His jump shot does not extend beyond the NBA three-point line as of late. He doesn't look to steal the ball much and prefers to body up in the post and attempt to block shots.
Outlook: Walker looks like a can't miss prospect. He has everything going for him and his head is always in the game. His limitations may keep him from being an MVP, but he will almost certainly be a multiple time all-star.
