Adam Hershey
6'8 210
SF
University of Michigan
Ratings: B- B- B C+ C B
Strengths: Adam Hershey is the jack of all trades. Coaches love the guy, but wonder why he hasn't quite put everything together just yet. Hershey is an especially late bloomer who finally came into his own during his Senior year of high school. Prior to that, he barely got any looks. After playing limited minutes his freshman year at Michigan, Hershey was the Wolverines starting small forward as a sophomore and impressed scouts with his all-around game, averaging 14.2 ppg 6.5 rpg 4.5 apg 2.5 bpg and 1.2 spg in under 30 mpg.
As far as his game goes, Hershey can score in anyway he wants. He's adept at getting to the basket, but is just an average finisher. He also has pretty good range on his shot but is not a consistent mid range shooter. Perhaps his best asset is his court vision--Hershey is a sensational passer. He played point guard in high school before he finally grew in his senior season and is best with the ball in his hands. While Hershey is not particularly quick, he has a slightly above average handle. On the defensive side of the ball, Hershey is a stat stuferf. He is a tremendous shot blocker who often played the middle of the zone in college. He's long, lanky, and blocks a ton of shots for a small forward.
Weaknesses: Hershey's main weakness is more of a complaint about his game style. He often shys away from being a go-to player and opts for a secondary role. Think Lamr Odom in the NBA--someone who has great tools but doesn't do what you wish he could with them. It's not like he shys away from pressure--Hershey is clutch--but so far, you won't see him take over games with his offense. Offensively, Hershey scores well in spurts but gets complacent. Though he is a decent jumper and long, he also lacks quickness and strength. Defensively, Hershey is a poor perimeter defender and only an average post defender. His rebounding is about average.
Overall: Hershey has all of the tools to be a star, it is just a question of whether he puts it together. At the very least, he's a nice stat stuffer at the 3 who can play a unique role as a backup 1/2/3/4. Versatile player who does a lot of good things.
