Breakdown:
Inside-He shows impressive tough for a young player in his ability to get to the hoop, and finish while there, however, much of this can be attributed to his overwhelming strength for a Shooting Guard, despite his diminutive size. He isn't going to be pushed around by guards, and holds his own against even strong Small Forwards. He is not going to overwhelm you with his athleticism though, as he isn't that quick, and is only an average at best leaper.
Outside:
Just a mediocre shooter all around, he has spent much of his career muscling his way to the hoop, and tends to settle for too many off balance jumpers and threes to be overly effective. No better than average when it comes to the FT line. His range to BBS 3 may be a bit worrisome unless he stops settling for the off balance 3's.
Handles:
Woods does have the ability to handle the Point guard spot, though he would suffer from turnover issues there. That will most likely hold him back from playing the position, when combined with his less than ideal quickness for the spot. He is a pretty good passer though, and should be able to create for teammates pretty well as an off guard
Defense:
This is where Woods really suffers. He tends to gamble for steals a Lot, and while that leads to him racking up steals counts, it also leaves him out of position defensively, and he doesn't have the quickness to get back in position, or even catchup. He has developed an excellent knack for getting beat off the dribble by an opposing guard, only to poke the ball away to save the basket. Positionally he will never be more than a mediocre defender...but he could be an excellent at steals. No blocking skills to be found.
Rebounding: This is another standout portion of Woods game. Despite his size he consistently pulled down 8 rebounds a game, using his brute strength, and a knack for knowing the balls trajectory to come up with rebounds that he should have had no business getting. A good all around rebounder, excellent for the SG position and amazing for his size.
Potential:
Woods has some attitude issues to worry about, as he can be a very angry player, and occasionally be a handful to deal with, however, its this very anger that makes him such a handful to deal with on the court. Despite his size he fights his way to the hoop and is willing to take the punishment required to be successful, nobody will accuse him of being soft anytime soon. His athleticism may hold him back, as will potentially his poor defense, but, given time to develop, Woods could become an excellent scorer passer with a bit of a turnover problem, potentially in the mold of a much much smaller Jerry Stackhouse in his later years in BBS, only with the ability to create steals.
