Pros: Messer's game heavily revolves around playing tough and gritty ball in the post. Opposing players always have to be careful of driving to the basket when Messer is in the area because of his ability to block shots. Offensively, most of Messer's baskets come off of putbacks as he is an excellent offensive rebounder. Bigger and stronger than most PFs.
Cons: Offensively, Messer will never be a player that is going to come out and average 20 points a game. Most of his baskets are made at the rim as his range is very limited. Mediocre free throw shooter. Doesn't like to come out and check opposing power forwards with 3 point range.
Overall: Messer is a prototypical defense big, something that is very much valued in BBS. The reboudning and blocking numbers he will contribute will make him a career starters in the BBS despite his flawed offensive game. He's a bigger and stronger type of power forward, making him much more likely to play center rather than small forward if he ever were to come out of position.
