Draft Ratings: B+ C C C B B
Age: 22
Height: 6’8”
Weight: 220
Position: PF/SF
College: North Carolina
Pros: McAdoo is an athletic marvel. At draft workouts, measuring McAdoo’s running vertical, they had to raise the height of the pegs a foot….and he still hit them all. McAdoo also has nice touch around the rim, and solid range on his jump shot, even extending some out to 3 point, though he is quite inconsistent from that range. McAdoo is an efficient rebounder, he puts himself in good position to get the ball. McAdoo has an insane wingspan, at 7’2.5” despite his 6’8 size helps him defensively against wing players and post players alike, and makes him a decent shot blocker. Nice passer from the post as well.
Cons: McAdoo is definitely not going to win any weightlifting contests anytime soon, and that will hurt him in the post at the next level. A bit undersized to be a true PF at the next level, may be stuck more as a SF. Gets abused in the post due to his lack of strength, and isn’t a great positional defender as it is. Can have some issues with turnovers, nothing too severe, but, its something to keep an eye on.
Outlook:
At 22 scouts have had plenty of time to pick apart McAdoo’s game, and its left them lukewarm as to his outlook. He has had four seasons at North Carolina to get stronger, but he hasn’t shown an ability to. Expect him to be a nice player in a Boozer type mold, but without the strength of Boozer.
