Kasumara Izawa
PG
University of Washington
5'10
175 LBs
22
Potential BBS Ratings
C B A- B D+ B
When he was 13 Kasumara saw his world change through a Tsunami that rocked the city of Sendai, 20 miles east of his hometown of Sakuragouka. While his family and friends all remained safe, the tsunami had a disastrous effect in The Japanese basketball community as many gyms and rec centers where Izawa played were destroyed. Izawa's family as well as many others gave it their best to resuccesfully build the basketball atmosphere around the coastal city but to no avail. Izawa being one of the best 14 year olds in Japan decided to leave the area and went to the prestigious Hotchkiss School in Connecticut in order to further live out his basketball dream.
Always underrated and undersized Izawa came into UW highly criticized and under much scrutiny. However, He dazzled and grew exponetialy in His 4 Years there, becoming one of the Pac-10's all-Time assist Leaders. His playmaking ability was remarakable and dazzled the crowds.
Izawa comes to BBS as your prototypical pass first PG. Gifted with speed, handling and passing. Depending on what you like as a GM, Izawa can be a day 1 starter in this league. Although all other aspects of his game lack behind this he has shown signs of improvement in his outside shooting and defensive ability.
From the offensive end his jumpshot especially behind the arc has gotten better and on the defensive end he can use his quickness to his advantage. however due to his size and stature he probably will have a tough time dealing the physicality of the league. Although there is room to grow, the sky is probably limited due to this. Will never be an all star but could develop into a very valuable player for most teams.
