James Blackmon Jr. Draft Ratings: B- C+ B- C C- A Age: 19 Height: 6'4" Weight: 190 Position: SG College: Indiana (Blackmon will only play shooting guard) Pros: Blackmon comes from a solid basketball background, as his dad was an All-American at Kentucky. At age 14, Blackmon committed to Indiana so that he could stay in-state and continue learning from his father. Blackmon has great handles and a great willingness to share the ball. He's not the most athletic player, but he can score in bunches with his creative dribble drives. He's not a very strong dunker, but he's crafty with the ball in his hands. He will occasionally grab steals that lead to nice fast break baskets. Blackmon has a superb basketball IQ and is very coachable. Cons: The only thing stopping Blackmon from greatness is his build. He is smaller than most shooting guards and isn't athletic enough to play the point with effectiveness. He's not the most athletic player and that makes him easier to cover. Blackmon also needs to work on his defense. Outlook: Blackmon should be an excellent offensive player and it will be his defensive development that determines how good he can be. At age 19 and with his coachability, he should end up being a very solid player.
