Scoring formula is as follows:
(ppg/mpg)+(rpg/mpg)+(apg+spg+bpg/topg)+fg%+(ft%/2)+3ptpg
Note: Still in search of the perfect formula; this one discriminates slightly against centers and power forwards, but adding 1 to their score and subtracting 1 from everybody else's makes it nearly perfect. Also, shooting percentages are moved up a decimal point. For example, .744 becomes 7.44
Honorable Mention:
Hassan Whiteside C DAL- 16.56, Greivis Vasquez PG ATL- 16.78, Ersan Ilyasova SF OKC- 16.92, Russell Westbrook PG DET- 17.08, Jrue Holiday PG- CHI- 17.67
#30- Derrick Caracter 17.75 PF LAL 23 6'8'' 275 A- D D C+ B C
He is what he is. His overall game has glaring holes, and doesn't really have too much hope of improving his flaws. He'd be a semi-productive starter on a losing team, but ideally he'd be used off of the bench, where he could put up solid numbers Wouldn't expect to see him on this list next season...
#29- Paul George 17.79 SF DEN 21 6'8'' 210 B B C- B+ C+ B
George is well on his way to being very well-balanced and very good. Has a nice inside outside game and can defend and rebound. He definitely needs to work on his handles and passing, but he may only be one TC away from being very noticeable. I could see him as a borderline star on an average team, or a nice complimentary piece on a contender.
#28- Ricky Rubio 17.81 PG NO 22 6'4'' 183 B B A+ B+ D+ B
He's been statistically underwhelming so far this year, but you have to wonder how much of that is his fault. Brook Lopez is a nice go-to guy, but Rubio doesn't have much else to work with yet in NO. Being the slick passer that he is, Rubio would work well on a stacked team as a non-option, or possibly in some kind of inside attack if that part of his game continues to develop. Needs to control his turnovers...
#27- Alexey Shved 18.01 SG LAL 23 6'6'' 181 C+ B B- B- C A
A surprise at this point on the list, but with a look at Shved's stats, you kind kinda see him ahead of Rubio. Kinda. His stats are like he is as a player--smooth and well-balanced. Nothing really stands out at you, but nothing really stands out at you. Know what I mean? He's a solid rebounder for a guard and could grab a good amount of steals in starter's minutes. May start at PG some day, you heard it here first.
#26- Derrick Favors 18.20 PF PHO 20 6'10'' 246 B C- D B B A
Isn't having a standout rookie campaign by any means, but he looks like he could be solid very soon. Beyond that, who knows? I could see 20-22 ppg with 11-12 rebounds and a couple of blocks conservatively, that should be enough to see Favors as an on-again, off-again All Star. But as I said, who knows? Potential, like God works in mysterious ways. Just ask Danny Granger.
#25- Greg Monroe 18.28 PF DAL 21 6'10'' 250 B+ C- B- B- B A
I love Greg Monroe. Probably will never be a premier defender, but the idea of 20, 10 and 4 is very appealing. I don't think he'll be a defensive liability necessarily, but more of a solid defender with no stats to show for it. The thought of Monroe in his prime, in a slow/inside offense gives me the drips. Not saying he's a cornerstone type, but he could be nice as one of two twin towers.
#24- Bill Walker 18.49 SF TOR 24 6'6'' 228 A- B D B- C C
I thought it was odd when dj took Walker at #15, but looking at the people drafted behind him, it turned out to be a pretty key pick. It's surprises me to see him at A- B, scoring 20 ppg behind Durant, and on good percentages. Nice pick dude. Has anyone ever held your face in his hand and said "nice pick dude"? Lets hope not. But yeah, could've done a lot worse than Walker.
#23- Blake Griffin 18.54 PF CHA 22 6'10'' 257 B+ C- C- B- B+ B
Considering that Tyreke went right after him, Griffin has looked kinda busty so far, but looking beyond that, he's beginning to show the makings of a solid player. It won't be his fault that he'll carry the stigma of being a bust at #1, but it will happen. Aside from Jennings, anyone taken ahead of Tyreke would suffer the same fate. Tyreke is a monster.
#22- Perry Jones 18.95 SF CHI 20 7'0'' 230 B+ B C+ A- B- A
Obviously isn't ready to be a legitimate #1 option quite yet, but give him time. His rookie skill set is fucking amazing, and Perry Jones will be beyond beast in his prime. I don't even want to begin to speculate as to what his prime will look like, but.... I could see him doing 28-30 with steals and blocks and rebounds and assists and yeeeee. Probably some turnovers too, but who the fuck cares? Do not ever trade him Play.
#21- Yi Jianlian 18.97 PF DAL 23 7'0'' 247 B B+ C- B- C+ B
At the age of 23, Yi has been around for a while, and you have to wonder just how much potential he has left in the tank. As it stands though, he can put up decent numbers in an awful offense as a starter, and he could someday develop into a legitimate marginal starter, but he'd be a lot more effective, if not dangerous coming off of the bench at multiple positions.
