Strengths:
-Very strong inside, has the size and body to be a dominant 5.
-Variety of post skills allow him to score anywhere inside the paint...but he is limited to that area.
-Large wingspan makes him a formidable shot blocker.
-Has good hands which allow him to grab rebounds and catch the entry pass.
Weaknesses:
-Must improve his free throw shooting.
-Lacks a game outside of the post.
-Once he gets the ball he doesn't like to give it back up. This can lead to turnovers when he gets overwhelmed and forces passes.
-Quickness is a concern.
Overall:
-Melo looks like a typical dominant big man. He doesn't have an outside game and will probably struggle with his free throws, but he is a nice throwback to dominant post players. Has everything you could want out of a true center: a good inside scoring game, rebounding, and defense. His two big weaknesses (his lack of an outside game and his lack of handles) might cause some pause, but they won't stop him from being one of the top picks in the draft.
