Marc Gasol
C
7’1 265
Spain
22 years old
Draft Ratings: B C- C- C B- A
Strengths: To this point, Pau Gasol's younger brother, Marc, has lived up the hype as one of the most highly touted international big men in recent memory. Like Pau, Marc is gifted with soft hands and is especially good at creating space down low with his frame. Gasol is stronger than most opponents in the paint and will have his way with weaker centers and forwards. Scouts particularly praise Gasol for his ability to shoot a high percentage from the field and is able to use his left or right hand to finish around the basket. What most GMs will be most impressed about is Gasol's ability to crash the boards and his shot blocking ability is expected to be refined with the proper attention.
Weaknesses: Similarly to his older brother, Marc is not very athletic and may have trouble in an uptempo type offense. Although Gasol should be a consistent shot blocker and will get some steals, he is not very quick and is not very good in one on one situations. Gasol really does not have range beyond 15-20 feet and needs to stay longer in the gym working on his jumper. He is also a decent foul shooter and passer, but could use some improvement in those areas as well.
Outlook: Gasol will be a top 10 pick and could go possibly higher for a team in need of a big. His offense and rebounding are so highly developed at this point and only his defense keeps him from being taken earlier in the lottery.
