I wanted to do this but realized I'd have no clue how to teach english. I just know how to write, have no idea how to teach someone the technical aspects of it Meh, I'll mostly be with small children. Not very difficult how to teach them colors, very basic words, etc.

Please go into detail of wtf your doing/accomplishing over there. Next Summer ( last semester before I graduate) I'm going to Rio or a week but also want to do something overseas but not sure what. Study Abroad costs too much but I would like to spend time in another culture for a short while. I'm teaching English. I can't really give you a great description because I haven't started yet, but I have interview tomorrow with the company that supposed to be placing me. Basically I get paid somewhere between $20-23 an hour to teach english to grade school aged kids. If you want to travel this would be a great opportunity, although I don't suggest you come to Taiwan. I will probably be working somewhere between 12-18 hours a week. Asia is probably the best place to get a job/make more than the average person/and have little in the way of expenses. Korea and Thailand are the easiest places to get jobs. I will eventually try more stuff, but my stomach has been a mess eating just light stuff. Once I adjust I'll get a little more risky. My shits have been absolutely disgusting. Sounds pretty cool. Is this part of some type of program? Or were you just aware of the need for english teachers and went out there on your own? How long do you plan to stay?

How long do you plan to stay? I came out here on my own. I had some stuff set up before I came, but I didn't want to use a program. I'll be out here for at least a year, probably longer. Most people love it, and if it's anything like it's been the last few days I see no reason to leave. You have any idea where you'd like to go?

Anywhere in South America and in some areas of Asia I wouldn't mind. The thing is, with my daughter, I could leave for probably 6 weeks at the max.
Got any pics of the area your staying in?

Yeah, I need to upload them somewhere. I'll post them at some point. It's too bead about the situation with your daughter (not that she's around but that you can't travel as long). The best thing I can think of is some sort of summer program. If you're interested in Taiwan I could probably find out some more legit details for you.

That would be awesome if you could find something or get any info on opportunities. Right now I'm not that picky on location, I'd just like to stay in a different culture and not do the tourist shit for an extended period of time. I'd even take a loan out if the right opportunity came about.

Give me a few days to get my situation figured out and I"ll look at some summer programs a little more thoroughly.
