This draft is headlined by the 2 point guards. Chris Paul and Deron Williams are head and shoulders above most of the rest of the draft class. Both should be excellent PGs with differing styles of play. Paul is a amazing passer and has an imposing in between game. Williams has the ability to be a top notch defender and has more of a 3 point shot. Both are gonna be listed among the top 5 PGs in the league within 3 years. Here is a look at the rest of the 2005 Draft....
Centers...
Andrew Bogut is a very good post player. He isn't as athletic as some of the other guys, but he can score down low, rebound and block shots. SHould be one of the better centers in the league...
Andrew Bynum is extremely raw, but should be a solid center one day. He has the physical tools to do it all. Score, defend and board. And he has requisite size and strength for a young big man...
Ronny Turiaf will earn his money as backup C. He can block shots and pass....
Marcin Gortat is a solid big man that can score and defend some. Should get quality minutes as a backup 4/5...
Ian Mahinmi is pretty raw, especially offensively. More of a defender/rebounder type...
Power Forwards...
David Lee is a fantastic rebounder and he has a very good mid range game. He isn't the best man to man defender, and he cant block shots but he handles the ball well and hes a good teammate...
Jason Maxiell is a strong player that can score inside and block some shots. Could develop into a starter, at worst hes a solid bench big man...
Amir Johnson is a pretty impressive athlete for his size. He can run and jump. Should be a pretty good shot blocker eventually too...
Andray Blatche is an intriguing prospect. He is strong and he can dominate in the paint sometimes, offensively and defensively. Unfortunately hes a bit of a head case and its impossible to project what hell do from game to game.
Fran Vazquez gas a pretty solid all around game and could be a solid starter in BBS...
Charlie Villanueva is a talented offensive player that has some serious flaws in other aspects of his game. More of a 6th man type.
Brandon Bass is a pretty solid big man with the ability to get better. He's strong, athletic and he can shoot. All good qualities for a young big man...
Channing Frye is unique big man i that he can shoot extremely well from long range. Because of this hes a pretty poor rebounder and probably just more of a role player...
Ike Diogu is a solid shot blocker and scorer. He is pretty topped out athletically though so he may not fit into BBS well...
Small Forwards...
Danny Granger is the top SF in the draft. He can do it all. He can score, defend board. Ideal young SF...
Marvin Williams is an uber talented young wing that can do it all. He can score inside and out, handle, defend and board. His career will be defined by his questionable athleticism. he might not have enough upside to truly progress in all areas enough to be a star...
Gerald Green is an outstanding athlete. He can run as well as anyone else in this draft, and jump through the roof. Hes also an outstanding shooter. Very rare prospect...
Linas Kleiza is a very good scoring big man that can play either forward spot. His lack of defense will probably keep him on the bench...
Yaroslav Korolev is a big time defender that may never offer more then that. He should get big minutes just because of his defense though...
Shooting Guards...
Monta Ellis is super quick and loves to get to the basket and score. He's also a great mid range shooter. Unfortunately he has some severe TO problems, he cant defend and he cant shoot the 3 point shot...
Rashad McCants is a amazing scorer who lacks pretty much all other parts of the game. He doesn't like to pass. He tends to turn it cover too much, and he has no ability to defend.
Louis Williams is a superb scorer with insane quickness. he can get his shot off against almost anyone. He is a 2 in the body of a 1 though and that may limit his productivity...
CJ Miles is an elite type prospect that can become a super shooter. His athleticsm isnt ideal, but he grades out to be a very good player...
Martell Webster is a very good shooter and overall scorer, but he has limited ability to get off his own shot. Needs to be in the perfect scenario to be productive...
Point Guards...
Nate Robinson has got amazing leaping ability and can dunk witht he best of them. He is a solid play maker and scorer as well...
Raymond Felton is a solid PG that should log starter minutes and certain points in his career. Not an elite type prospect though...
Jarrett Jack is a nice young PG that should be a very good backup or solid starter in BBS...
