David Lee
PF
6'9 250
Florida
21 years old
Draft Ratings: B- C C C B- A
Profile
Strengths: Highly underrated yet uber-talented, Florida forward David Lee has declared his intentions to explore his BBS draft options. As a naturally left handed athlete, Lee honed his off-hand in high school when he broke his left arm and learned to play ambidextrously. Lee's skill set allows him to dominate the paint with a series of post moves, hooks and short jumpers. He considerably dominates bigger, more powerful forwards on the offensive end despite his frame and height. Lee makes his mark on the glass as he beats most players to the ball by using great technique and box out abilities. Perhaps the best part of Lee's game that has scouts drooling over his game is his effectiveness on the floor. Lee should be a consistent 50 percent plus shooter from the field and more than 78% from the free throw line. Because he doesn't miss many shots, he opens up the game for his teammates and lessens the scoring load for other interior players on his team. Even as a four-year senior coming into the draft, Lee's upside is considered through the roof by several basketball personnel and talent evaluators.
Weakenesses: The biggest knock on Lee's game is his defense or lack there of. He will might never be able to stop his opposer from scoring on him unless there's some serious work and development done on his part of his repetiore. As a result, Lee won't get you very many blocks but may get more steals since he is able to get under bigger player and strip the ball occassionally. Although still considered a big man, Lee won't be able to stretch the floor past 15-20 feet and knock a jumper on occasion as he really does not have the ability to hit a three pointer.
Outlook: Lee will probably go in the top 10 in the draft, maybe even top 5 depending on the strength at the top. Lee is still considered a bit of a wild card although young power forwards have been blossoming in the league lately.
