Injuries are killing the Steelers. That defense cannot close games without Troy.

The Patriots are clearly trying to reload their defense. I think their secondary will be fine. Don't overlook the fact that over the next two drafts the Patriots has 7 selections in the first two rounds. I expect them to land some big time defensive talent, and likely add some OL and a RB with those picks. I don't see the Patriots doing much this year in the playoffs. They just don't have the defense.
As for the Steelers, it's all about Troy. He's their physical and emotional leader on the field and it's clear they are hurting without him. I think their offense is fine, the running game is good. Mendenhall and Parker provide a nice 1-2 punch. They need to address some holes in their offensive line though.

Pats trading Seymour while maybe be good for the future is hurting now. Not sure how good a trade that was, Brady isnt getting any younger nor is Moss. Their window is now.

Steelers I dunno, even without Polamalu they should'nt get beat by the Raiders.
Something going on there chemistry wise it looks like. They may straighten it out by playoffs, if it's not too late.
