Strengths:
Extremely Athletic, with excellent strength and size for a SG, and the ability to to play SF. Richardson is an excellent scorer, with the ability to get to the rim at will. He will win a slam dunk contest in his time in the league, as Richardson is an extraordinary leaper. Richardson has an improving outside game. Richardson is a solid rebounder for the postition due to his strength and leaping ability, and that strength also gives him an advantage inside as he is able to physically dominate the opponent. Richardson is a solid passer. He is good without the ball as well, cutting to the basket and finding the open area
Weaknesses:
May count on his athleticism too much, which could create issues in his transition to the NBA, where his athletic advantage will not be as important. Richardsons defense is questionable, he may never be a great defender, though his athleticism will help him keep up with opposing guards and forwards, he just isn't a great defender. His ball handling skills leave something to be desired, leading to turnovers, and making it tough for him to get past people on his own. Richardson can be a chucker, not necessarily taking the greatest shots, and leading to a lower shot percentage. Injuries could derail him as well, as with any athletic player, any injury affecting his athleticism would severly hinder Richardson's game. Probably one of the biggest problems though is Richardsons Free Throw shooting, which ranges from below average to abysmal. While he has a fine midrange game, Richardson stuggles when it comes to his FT shooting at an alarming rate, shooting just 52% his freshman year, and while it improved to 69% for his sophomore year, its still questionable.
Outlook:
Richardson has the potential to be a star in the Vince Carter Mold. They share many of the same characteristics and weaknesses. If Richardson can overcome his he could be a star in the league...but at the very least a dunk title should be in his future
