A look at the 2000 Draft by position.....
Centers...
Jamaal Magloire is a very solid offensive scorer that can board enough that he could be a BBS starter. He wont ever be known for his defense but he could be a 15-10 type if given the minutes... Joel Przybilla is the anti Magloire. Prz is a big time shot blocker who cant score and doesn't rebound especially well. Definately more of a backup then a starter...Chris Mihm is another quality big man who will give quality minutes at a tough spot to fill in BBS. Mihm isn't great at anything but he should board and defend well enough to get some minutes... Olumide Oyedeji is an intriguing young athlete with some nice rebounding skills. Unfortunately OO cant score to save his life.
Power Forwards...
Kenyon Martin is a very nice athletic young big man who loves to defend. More of a put back/fast break scorer, Martin should earn his paycheck on defense...Stromile Swift is similar to Martin in that he doesn't have any actual post game. Swift is an athlete who can block shots, run and board...Marcus Fizer is a bruiser inside. He loves to post up and pound the ball inside. Not much of a defender or rebounder. Should be a nice lotto pick...Chris Andersen is a shot blocking freak. He has amazing jumping ability and great timing. Even if Andersen offers no offense and no rebounding he will get big time minutes just because of the blocks...Etan Thomas is a solid big man in a draft class filled with solid big men. Thomas can defend a little and rebound pretty well. Probably just a backup, but he should be serviceable.
Small Forwards...
Hedo Turkoglu is a big time talent. He can do a little bit of everything. Hedo can score and board really well from the SF spot. He can also play a little point forward. Intriguing prospect with some big time upside...Darius Miles is a physically gifted player with almost zero actual basketball skills. Miles can run the floor and leap through the roof. If he is developed correctly Miles could be very special...Desmond Mason doesn't have the upside of other guys in this class, but he can score and he can defend. If Mason does start, he should be a 15-18 PPG type guy and should do a decent enough job defending his opposite number...Quentin Richardson is a very good long range shooter. He can really get hot from the 3 point line. Q is also a pretty good rebounder for his size...Eduardo Najera is a very nice defender and rebounder at the 3 spot. A very aggressive player who hustles and dives for loose balls. Great part time player...Brian Cardinal is the offensive equivalent of Najera. Cardinal loves to mix it up and dive for loose balls but he really shines on the offensive end. He has a solid jumper. Good range on his shot and the ability to get to the basket and draw fouls...Morris Peterson is a pretty nice offensive player. He has a solid outside shot. He can score inside a little. His defense isnt horrible. decent late 1st rounder.
Shooting Guards...
Michael Redd is a legit #1 option. He should be a B+ A- type guy and lead his team in scoring. Might not ever be more then a mediocre defender, but his scoring should make that moot...Jamal Crawford is an excellent scorer. Doesnt really have the size or defensive ability to be a top tier SG or the passing ability to be a top tier PG. Crawford should be a very nice 6th man type though...Mike Miller is a big time scorer. Not much for defense, Miller loves to shoot and can score in bunches...Eddie House is a great shooter. He can play 1 or 2 and just bomb 3's off the bench. Although he'll never be a start quality player, he would be a perfect back up on an outside focus team...DeShawn Stevenson is a very good defender who is so inconsistent on offense. He relishes any big time defensive assignment but he is a serious brick layer on offense...DerMarr Johnson can shoot. Johnson is a big time talent that is very raw and might need some RC helps to ever be a starter in the league...
Point Guards...
Tony Parker is a legit star and the obvious #1 selection. TP can get to the hole with his amazing quickness, and hes a very good finisher despite his slight frame. Parker isn't a traditional point in that he doesn't pass that well, and he does have a slight TO problem but his scoring and overall ball handling ability make him special...Keyon Dooling is a nice athlete that has some decent upside for a PG. He can handle and pass a little. Decent mid range jump shot. Might catch on as a solid backup...Jason Hart should be a very nice late 1st round selection and backup PG in BBS. He can do a little bit of everything and with some nice TCs could be a solid little player.
