Braun-Fielder put up better numbers than Pujols-Holliday last year. All three of those are pretty close though.

Braun-Fielder put up better numbers than Pujols-Holliday last year. All three of those are pretty close though. no they didn't. Pujols was substantially better than prince. Braun was better than Holliday. Pujols woba was 449, Prince's was 420. + 29 for Cards Braun's wOBA was 405, Holliday's was .390. - 15 for cards +14 overall for STL. Braun/Prince are great but they weren't more productive than Pujols/Holliday last year, mainly because Pujols is just that good.

so the difference between the two duos is pretty much equal to the difference between braun and holliday as players. not huge because both are great but braun is clearly better

I didn't really have any evidence to back my claim. I was reading something that made that statement and I believed it. Maybe I just wanted to believe it. I don't know.

how's reyes's thyroid doing? he should be good to go when he's eligible to come off the DL on saturday although i read they might just wait until next tuesday. idk why they'd do that, he has been playing 9 innings the last few days in extended spring games, stealing bases, hitting homers, etc. if he's healthy, he's healthy. he's just as likely to get hurt in extended spring than he is with the Mets if they're letting him play without any stipulations (bc initially he was only allowed to run to first base but now he just plays normally)

I like the, uhhh, first five games or so of the baseball season because I'm able to get really excited. Like, I'm pumped for the game tonight! Unfortunately, that excitement really does only last about five games or so.
It is a little bit different this year though because the Pirates actually have young talent that is fun to watch. McCutchen is fun to watch. Garrett Jones, while he isn't overly young in age, is a fun player to watch. Lastings Milledge has been very fun to watch since he's come to the Pirates.
And, of course, we should see Pedro Alvarez, Jose Tabata, and Brad Lincoln this year - three players that are absolutely essential to the Pirates ever being anything near good.

Good to see Ortiz's 0-7 start. It would be really nice for him to not suck. It's early in the season, so we'll have to see.
