#1 Shaquille O'Neal C 23 7'1'' 325 A- D C- A- A- B Blazers
There's no denying that Shaq, simply put, is the most valuable player in the league today, period. Only in his fifth year, he's already dominant and has already led his team to a championship. And he's only 23. He's got ten more years of dominance left, and he hasn't even reached his peak. That's scary, considering he's averaging 25.5ppg & 11rpg, on over 50% shooting. His value is unquestionable and GM's will be hounding Dan for him for seasons to come.
#2 Allen Iverson PG 20 6'0'' 165 A- B B- B+ C- A Grizzlies
Only a rookie, Iverson's already among the league's best guards. After being drafted first overall ahead of two fantastic bigs in KG & TD, "The Answer" had a lot to prove. He responded by having an outstanding first training camp and putting up 23.6ppg, 4.2rpg, and 6.7apg in his rookie season. He is leading the Grizzlies to the playoffs, and he is only twenty. AI has multiple MVP awards in his future and he's going to be next to impossible to acquire from the Grizz.
#3 Kevin Garnett PF 19 6'11'' 220 B C C A- B+ A Heat
This is the second rookie in the top 3. KG and TD would be a virtual toss-up for this spot, but KG is a superior rebounder and more athletic. Garnett at 19 is one of the most exciting young players in the league and is the Heat's franchise player without question. He is going to be the flagship of that franchise for years to come. Expect 24/11/4/2/2 in his prime. Yeah. He's that good.
#4 Tim Duncan C 19 6'11'' 248 B C C A- B A Cavaliers
Three rookies in a row. That's how good the 95 draft class was. In a decade, this draft will be looked as as the one that changed the fortunes of the Grizzlies, Heat, & Cavaliers. TD's already showing his scoring, defense, and rebounding prowess at the age of 19. He's going to continue to improve and will become one of the league's best bigs before all is said and done.
#5 Alonzo Mourning PF 25 6'10'' 246 B C D+ A A- B Blazers
Shaq's counter-part in the Blazers frontcourt comes in at number 5. Zo doesn't have the scoring ability of Shaq, but he's a superior rebounder and his defense is exceptional. He's highly coveted by every GM around the league, and if he files for Free Agency this offseason, expect the max offers to come pouring in. If he re-signs, then Portland will likely dominate the league for the next six years with Zo & Shaq.
#6 Jason Kidd PG 22 6'4'' 208 B- B- A- A+ C A Cavaliers
JKidd is the second Cavalier on this list, and the case could be made that he should even be ranked above KG, TD, and Zo. However, bigs are more valuable then smalls. Kidd is the best young PG in the league, or at least is on his way to being the best. The Cavaliers have a scary duo, and considering they're on track to get another top 3 pick this year, they could be the Blazers of the East. Kidd's value in a league thin on elite PG's is unquestionable, and he looks to be becoming the next Payton. Sick, right?
#7 Jamal Mashburn SF 22 6'8'' 240 B A- C+ B- C B Nets
Mash is going to be a great SF, and he's already showing flashes of being an elite scorer. He's averaging 26/7/5 in his 3rd season in the league and is in the top 10 in scoring. If he continues to improve, he could be one of the best players in the league soon. He is the Nets franchise player, and if they can add quality young players and build around him, they should be dangerous soon.
#8 Glenn Robinson SF 22 6'7'' 225 B+ B+ C B- C+ B Bulls
Big Dog! He and Mash are very similar players, the only difference being Mash is a superior passer. That's the only reason Mash is above GRob. Robinson is only in his second season with the Bulls and is already 3rd in the league in scoring. He is the star of a loaded young Bulls team, and is even more valuable then former #1 pick Penny Hardaway. Big Dog going to be a great player. Actually, scratch that. He already is. The Bulls should be a great team soon, and GRob will be the key.
#9 Shawn Kemp PF 25 6'11'' 236 B+ C- C- A+ B+ C Pacers
Kemp is in a different situation then most of the other players on this list. He's been in the BBS ever since its beginning and was one of the top picks in the creation draft. While he has improved since BBS' first season and does have impressive statistics, he has never shot above 44.3% and turns it over a lot. Additionally, he's never really been on a quality team, which indicates he's not really that great of a player. However, he comes in at #9 because he's having a career season this year while keeping the Pacers in the playoff hunt and he's still a very good big man whose only 25.
#10 Grant Hill SF 23 6'8'' 228 B B B C+ C A Thunder
The jury is still out on Hill. the #1 pick in the '94 draft, Hill has progressed some, but not quite to the point that was expected by scouts. However, he's still putting up 21/7/5 and helping the Thunder reach the playoffs. Hill's a supremely talented player and may very well end up being better then some of the players above him, but questions about his defense and overall potential remain. He'll be quite good, but how good? That's why he comes in at #10.
