*He did a fucking awesome job answering these and also answered so quickly. Did them immediately so give him some love with points! IDC about my points, if I even deserve any. All I did was ask questions, he did the work*
Mark: Spence said recently that he is in a "foul fucking mood". Do you think he has been a little edgier lately than normal?
Insane: I've just never seen him as an angry type of guy. I know how much work it takes to sim, and I know I'd be flying off the handle if I had to deal with all the tanking bullshit and trades that don't work. Also I'd be fucking pissed if Gm's kept questioning every move I made. So yeah, those are the 3 reasons I think he's been more of a prick to certain GM's, he's been calling out Play and Marty and looking for fights. But he's been very level headed in dealing with the tanking and bad trades so that's pretty awesome because I know I wouldn't be so nice
Mark: Rank your top 5 GMs
Mark - Went from nearly getting CY'ed, to Pippen/Jordan/Hardaway. Think he's one of the best because he can transition so well from tanking to competing, knows the right time to cash in his prospects for vets
Insane: Maniac - He's a conservative guy, but it works for him. Made a few moves early, won a title, and been in the finals for consecutive seasons. He should really make some moves soon, to move his team fully in one direction or the other, because the place he's in now is not good. Penguins really suck btw
Skillz - He's chilled out a bit recently with the trades, but when he puts his mind to it, he can catch fire and put together a sick team in a hurry. One thing I didn't like was when he traded Bird back in the first season. I think he could've won a title and he was something like 19-2, but he made a trade that made him worse knowing that he had traded all his picks away too.
Habes - He's the next best at transitioning from rebuilding to competing. Ewing/Malone/Clyde was so sick, he was just unfortunate to never get past Portland's buzzsaw of a frontcourt. Seems to be snake bitten when it comes to the playoffs, but the skill is there.
Blue - Had a stacked team to start with and I thought they were the runaway favorites, but they choked up and never won a ring. But his track record in BBS is as good as anyone's and he's won a good amount of rings. Like Maniac, he also seems to be a conservative type of GM, and his GM'ing skill is on point.
Mark: Rank your bottom 5 GMs
Insane: Aar- I had to. He's one of my favorite guys in BBS but what he's done in this league is atrocious. When he tries, he's up there with the top tier of GM's, there's no questioning that. So inactive that it's crazy he's still in the league.
Me - I like to think I make solid moves, but I am without a doubt the worst DC maker in the league. It seems that everytime I have some talent, I can never get the team to play well while less talented teams flourish because their DC is good. Thought I was doing it by adding Nique, but had a horrible time integrating him and it just never worked out. Gave up possible lotto picks for him and now I'll be up against the CY if I don't make the playoffs this year
Ashes- In this league, it seems like he hasn't done anything since the first few years. His team randomly started to suck and I don't remember him doing anything about it. Should've traded Mark Price by now. But he's 3-17 and if he lands Kobe, all will be forgiven.
Tiger - He's another conservative dude, but he hasn't been too good here. Another team that seems like they've been tanking forever, yet still aren't that good yet. Though I'm not sure if there's any team in BBS that's in better position for the future than Tiger right now. If he plays his cards right he should be a perennial contender soon.
Jah - The most conservative GM in BBS has had a tough time so far. Usually he is a top notch drafter and finds steals in free agency that keep him in the hunt, but he's had no luck here. Rarely trades, but if he hopes to beat the CY, he'd better break out of that shell quickly. He has a bit of talent so if he makes some moves he'll be okay.
Mark: Lately a bunch of longtime GMs (Outlawz, Pig, Nanz) have left. The Ebener and Hype additions were criticized by pretty much everyone. Should they have gotten teams over Styro?
Insane: I never said anything in the hiring thread about the actual hirings, but I thought it was a travesty to be honest. Styro's been posting like crazy and Spencer literally gave him the shaft. In my mind, BBS is about activity first and foremost, and from what it sounds like, this styro guy can hold his own as a GM, so there's no reason at all why Spencer didn't hire him. nothing against Hype and Ebener who are both good, but Styro deserves one of those teams.
Mark: What do you think of the way Spence has broken up these current draft classes? Some, myself included, think that he unnecessarily weakened the Penny draft to load up the next few drafts (specifically taking out CWebb from the draft). Even though it is realistic that some drafts are stronger than others, is it fair?
Insane: I agree that it has been unfair so far to the teams that were trying to tank right off the bat. I know some teams were looking to tank from the beginning, but the first few draft classes were just garbage compared to having 3 future superstars in the last batch. A few things that can be done to remedy this if you're going to stack classes like Spence has been doing: Start making the NBA stars bust, and start making more steals out of players that weren't that good or never realized their potential in real life
Mark: Aar has a weak core and is not active. Should he be fired?
Insane: Hmm. No, not yet. Aar should be and has been given a long leash for what he's done in the past. I think that Spence should seriously ask him if he can boost his activity, otherwise he has to go. One more season should be enough to see where to go from here.
Mark: Last year Manas tanked without a PF or C on the roster. While this was within the rules, it was pretty blatant tanking. Should something be done about the current level of tanking?
Insane: hell yeah. I've never really complained about the tanking here, but I was bitching a lot on AIM last season because of some of the shit people were doing. In the end it worked out for me because I won the lotto, but I was pretty pissed throughout the season that my team should be performing way worse than it is. It's good to see that Spence is cracking down now, because only in BBS does a player's value lower if they're perceived as helping your team win too much. I don't know if there could be any penalties related to the draft that can be handed out, but maybe take away an RC from someone if they're caught doing shit like trying to start Alaa Abdelnaby at PF or Jerome Kersey at center
