Welcome to PTI. Today's episode is special, not only because it's the only episode we've ever done, but also because my co-host thinks Spence is a bitch! Or he did. And got fired. But he's BACK! Outlawz, welcome back. Tell me your side of the story without saying anything that would start a fight with Spence. Why did you decide it was all or nothing over your DC? Was it the proverbial last straw? How did you go about reconciling with Spence? Are you a changed man? Do you have any regrets? Glad to be back? How many questions am I going to ask?
Jesus that was a lot of questions!!
Well, I felt disrespected when Spence told me he didn’t use my dc. I felt like i was being treated like a noob and still feel that worrying about who my 3rd stringers were was kinda petty but to each his own. I was one of the first guys to come from other leagues and build up the quality of gms in here. I made my dc quickly because it was late but instead of askin i was being called a tanker and my dc wasn’t used. I’m a hot head I shouldn’t of called him names which is the reason why he fired me but i know i was in the right when most of BBS agreed with me. I did what he asked with Askins after that it just got out of hand. I’m not a noob so don’t treat me like one so that’s why I said fuck it use it or let me go. Of course i didn’t want to get fired but I’m fucking stubborn like that and so is Spence even tho he'll never admit it but I lose cus he has all the power lol. I think I’ve been much better at not starting shit with guys. But i am who i am. I talk shit and im fucking stubborn. My girl deals with it and so should you guys! lol. Na but i love this league and it would've sucked if spence didn’t ask me back. I actually apologized to him for callin him a bitch not thinkin it would matter but then he said he appreciated the apology and said he couldn’t live without me so how can i say no to that? Lol
I've always liked Spence as a person and he’s great at what he does and although i dont say it.. I do very much appreciate it because it’s a hobby I love.
Aaron: I think it was a dumb situation. Your DC might've sucked, I didn't really look, but at the same time, a lot of people have made godawful DCs and tanked in this and past versions of BBS. I think you deserved more respect than that. But I also think you react really poorly to Spence whenever you guys disagree and that you guys could get along a lot better if you both did away with that. You've been great for the league for a long time and you shouldn't threaten to quit or jeopardize your spot, even if Spence pisses you off. I'm not saying he wasn't wrong, but nobody wants to see you leave, so you guys need to become best friends for life.
Outlawz: Yeah, i do react badly. I can admit my wrongs. I just dont know if i'll fix them. But at the end of the day i love bbs
You just set a record for most first given up ever in one deal. How does it feel to be in the record books? I know most of that had to do with CJ asking for a shitload, correct? How did that trade convo go? Did it take you days? Who are 5 guys you just hate dealing with? And why?-Outlawz
Aaron: Actually, CJ didn't ask for anything. That was all me. After I did the Ewing deal, I felt like I needed to make a second huge addition or I'd be wasting Big Pat. Everyone was panning that deal for the Hawks and I didn't want people to think I built my team through ripoffs, so I forced this deal down CJ's throat. At the end of the day, it's a terrible trade. The discrepancy in quantity is just embarrassing. Ten for one? Yikes. But I'm all about making decisions on the fly and regretting them later!
The discussion basically went like this:
Me: What for Malone?
CJ: You taking the LSAT for me
Me: Nine firsts and Spree
CJ: Hang on phone BRB
[2 hours pass]
CJ: Sorry took longer than I thought. So what was the offer? 7 firsts?
Me: Nah, why don't you take 9?
CJ: Ok, but I don't like the Phi 2000, can I have their 96?
Me: Yeah, sure!
Also this took like two days and Jordan and I discussed his life for most of the conversation. I love Jordan but it is impossible to get him to talk trade for more than 15 seconds. Also, why do I call him Jordan sometimes and CJ other times? Jordan/CJ, I'm gonna need a ruling here.
As for the guys I find impossible to trade with:
CC- I don't think he's very rational at all. I know things went really well for him in the last BBS, but I find him impossible to talk trade with. He never gives any indication of what he wants to do or what it would take to get a deal done. I'm a little bitter because he refuses to even consider Kukoc for Mark Jackson, but in my experience with him, he's just tough to understand.
Tiger- He's the worst. I have nothing against him but I think he overvalues his players way more than anyone in BBS and does a bad job. I think he needs to be way more proactive with his teams and his philosophy is standing in the way of that.
DJ- Cocktease. I didn't answer your latest PM but I will soon. I always like your players and you always withdraw one or two PMs in. UGH!
Martinez- I think I've made on trade with him ever. I find him impossible and never bother PMing him/looking at his players. He doesn't make offers. Oh well.
Nova- Yeah. First PM: I like ___. Any interest in absolute garbage? Me: Nah. Him: K.
Every time Noves and I PM, it ends with him saying K. That's gotta be the case for everyone, no? I think Nova is big on squeezing out value and doesn't take risks, which holds him back. He refuses to lose in value so he only offers deals/ideas where he wins.
Outlawz: Man, i remember one time it took me one week to get a deal done with CJ. Even when you throw the kitchen sink he find something about the shit he dont like lol It's tough to deal with him but even harder for him to make a fuckin decision lol. Good guy though but fuck why must you torture us?
Agree with the guys you picked. LOL @ nova always saying K. That shit always annoyed me i thought it was just me. I would throw ducky in there too though.
Aaron: So Pig took the first two titles in this version of BBS. How good of a GM is he? We all know he had a run of total shit in the last BBS and repeatedly expressed confidence in himself "when he was active." So did Pig prove his point? Or do you subscribe to the school of thought that says it's less impressive to win when a league starts? Does Pig have anything left to prove?
Outlawz: I've always felt that Pig can be a good gm when he gives a fuck and is very capable of winning a ring here or there. Can he be one of those guys that can do it for a long time like a nanz or mark? i dont know but he does have the potential. He has his spurts of inactivity but when he cares he can get it done so in a sense yeah i think he proved his point but i think he needs to get it done again and have a winner for a while. I do believe that the first 4 years of league is much easier to win because the talent is low and i feel its not as hard to win as opposed to when theres more of a talent balance later on. Thats why i personally never tried to win at the start i think its too easy. I mean look at the amount of wins the nets and lakers got. 70 and 67 wins respectively is crazy. That would never happen in a couple of years unless someone assembles a monster team.
But now i pose you the same question.. I think you won one ring? Your resume of success has been very up and down. You have teams that contend for a couple seasons then you blow it up for a season then you get stuck in the middle. I've always felt like you lack a steady direction when it comes to assembling teams. How do you feel about my assesment? What do you feel you're doing differently now that will allow you to have more success than in the past? and what are some of your faults that you feel held you back from success in the past? Do you get jealous that your buddies nanz, mark, and dan won more rings than you? is that something you guys trash talk about to each other in person?-Outlawz
Aaron: I'm not a great GM. I know how to build a contender but I always give up too much to get there and never have long windows. I did a solid job in the last BBS and I'd say I did everything short of winning a ring, which is obviously a major, major accomplishment to be lacking as far as GM status is concerned. I know there are guys with more patience and better philosophies and I know that I never hold out for the best possible value in trade scenarios. I focus in on players I like and can justify giving as much as possible in order to build a team I like. That's what's standing in my way. In the last league, I'm sure I was top five in playoff appearances and I made the finals three times, but a lot of guys won rings and I wasn't one of them.
I don't get jealous of my friends winning rings. I'm gonna have a lot of fun regardless. I got pretty pissed last time I lost in the finals, I'll say that. I think I can build a great team right now if I handle this situation properly. I have a great duo and two promising young guys to move. But I'm pretty set in my ways, and if I don't get a ring at some point, that's that. I think I cared more about going for a ring awhile back, and right now I'm pretty much thrilled to have Malone and Ewing! Yee. Kiss my ring
So, what about you? When are you gonna get back on top? Have you been disappointed in your performance in this league? Are you as good as ever?-Aaron
Outlawz: In BBS 3 the last 10 or so seasons didnt go as well. I wasnt as interested and people started thinkin i dont have it no more but i was tied with nanz for most rings, i made the most finals, top 3 reg season wins, had the most playoffs wins and playoff percentage. I"ve always been on top. I just took a vacation. BBS 2 i dominated and had the most rings and that last season i had 70 wins. It might come off cocky but my resume speaks for itself. I think it speaks louder that i sucked it up for 10 seasons yet still was at the top of the record books. Im the guy everyone wants to beat for a reason. Until ive been surpassed im still that dude.
Say hello to the bad guy! (Throws something at you.. LOL)
Dan just won the lottery two years in a row and he added Dumars, KJ, and Del Negro. First of all how fucking lucky is this guy? is he this lucky in real life? lol How long before Dan starts dominating? How many rings do you think he can win with Zo and Shaq down low? Has he been boasting about it to you guys?-Outlawz
Dan's been smart and kept it low key. It's lame because both time, I was projected a few spots in front of him, so he's been so lucky. He got hit in the face with a bat in high school so he deserves this! I don't think he has great luck. He was up like 500 bucks at a casino this weekend and lost it all. And then won it back. AND LOST IT AGAIN! His dog's name is Lucky though. Great dude. Smelliest breath since Nam. I think Dan is definitely lucky to be in this spot, but what are you gonna do? It happened, and it's not his fault. He could have Terrell Brandon and Steve Smith, but he moved up in the lotto and has Shaq and Zo. I guess we're all kinda fucked now, but good for Dan. Couldn't have happened to a smellier dog's owner. That's a fact.
Lets do some quick-fire questions. Who's your pick to win it all this year, and who will they beat?-Aaron
Outlawz: I’ve liked the Lakers since the Bobcats blew it up. They've been close the last couple of seasons but the nets are pretty good. Nets-Lakers finals with the lakers taking it is my prediction
You?-Outlawz
Aaron: Thunder. Book it. My trio is sick! I'll figure out my depth and we'll win 40. Nice. NOTE: I originally picked the Nets, and Outlawz responded to that prediction.
Outlawz: Nets have choked it up in the playoffs before but you may have a point but i will stick with the lakers
Injuries have a played a big part sometimes in teams losing in the playoffs do you think something should be implemented? i always thought that guys in real life tough it out sometimes and that should apply to bbs. Maybe certain injuries guys can tough out or at least play backup or something so they can still play a role. What do you think about that?-Outlawz
Aaron: Yup. Some FBB injuries are just dumb. You're playing through the flu, or a sprained finger, or blurred vision in the playoffs. IMO, any injury under ten days should be voided during the playoffs. Should've been implemented when the league started. Winning in BBS is about building the best team. There's no need for something totally random to interfere. If it were up to me, injuries would be off. I understand that they're a part of basketball, but this is a sim league and there's no need to represent that element of the sport. The competition here is about doing the best job building a team, not staying healthy or anything like that.
Pick a guy at each position to build around. You can decide if you wanna base it on age, value, talent, etc.-Aaron
Outlawz: Good question. Now i gotta look through shit. Thx habes!! Makin me do work. Whats wrong with you?? Hmm lets see
C - Shaquille O'Neal C 20 7'1'' 325 A- D C- B A- A
- Obviously this guy looks like he'll be the best player in the league in no time. Only 20 years old. Every gm's sim fantasy is to have a 20 yr old Shaq
PF - Alonzo Mourning PF 22 6'10'' 240 B C D- B+ B+ A
- 17,10, and 2 as a rookie? Yeah, easy decision here. Hey dan.. Hate you. Kemp was a close 2nd though but i think Zo will be the better shot blocker
SF - Scottie Pippen SF 27 6'7'' 210 B B B A+ B- B
- A little older than you would like but in his prime and can literally do it all and a great defender. What more can you ask for?
SG - Michael Jordan SG 29 6'6'' 195 A B+ B+ A+ C C
- Top 5 player and he wouldnt want to go look at their roster and see MJ in it? Cool as fuck. Again, older than what you would want but he's a top 5 player and dont see a sg i would pick over mj
PG - Tim Hardaway PG 26 6'0'' 175 C+ A- A+ A- C- B
- Had a great tc. Hardaway is a stud and only 26. Can score, dish, and defend. Easy choice here. Best pg in the league
Now your turn. Guys 24 and under though.-Outlawz
C- Shaq
He's the obvious pick here.
PF- Zo
Haha, Dan is such a joke.
SF-Toni Kukoc
I don't think it's any question, but maybe I'm missing someone. Kukoc came in at B-/B-/C+/C and in his rookie year is now B-/B/B-/B-. He does a lot of things well, has A potential and I think he's gonna be a franchise piece.
SG-Nick Anderson
Hard to argue. He's having an incredible year and Manas should give me him. He kinda sucked before this year, but he's exploded. He's a top scorer, and shooting nearly 50%. Also plays great defense.
PG-Gary Payton
This one's not even close. There really aren't any other great young PGs out there. GP has amazing ratings. Scary to think he's so young.
How about the Clippers? 18-2 is pretty crazy. Are they for real? How good of a GM do you think Martinez actually is?-Aaron
Outlawz: Any team that has Martinez in it are never for real. Its a flukey kinda thing. One of those strange phenomenoms in life that just happen. He's ok but i would put him in the 18-23 range as far as gms go. Never has done anything impressive and last time he won something spence set it up for him.
Name 3 gms you would like to hang with, 1 that you would like to fight, and one that you would fire.. go!
Good question. I've met a lot of GMs so I won't include them. I'm a Phil Koloski guy. We'd be BFF in real life, no doubting that. Maniac! I'm gonna include Spence. It'd be cool to meet anyone from BBS, really. Jordan, Skillz, Big Noves, Chipper, JB, D2ACOLLECTABLES, etc.
The one I'd fight would be CC. I really want Mark Jackson. Fuck.
I'd fire Tiger for total lack of interest in his team, nothing else. Maybe he's just busy but damn, he doesn't seem to give a shit about BBS at all.
I'll toss the same question back to you.-Aaron
Outlawz: Kinda offended i wasnt included in the would like to meet part of your answer. Sadness. I disagree with tiger situation i think he was just busy with the holidays but he does need to pick it up a bit.
Hmmm probably play because i heart him and hes the one guy im the most cool with and then probably the ct guys as a whole. More than 3 but fuck it thats how i roll. Say hello to the bad guy!
Fight no question would be martinez. Would give him the beatdown of his life. Killin is unfortunately illegal in the us though.
To be fired... hmm. Im just going to randomly pick the hawks gm cus i dont know much about him and no one has really done that bad of a job
Aaron: Oh yeah, you're definitely on there. I just didn't pick you because you asked the question. I didn't want to turn this into sweetheart central and then end up blushing, you know? I've had my heart played with too many times before.
It's a tough break about that murder law though, no doubt.
I'll ask another question. Biggest pair of tits you've seen?-Aaron
Outlawz: Yeah, lets not get too emotional here. What kinda of bad guy am i. Im a joke
This is going to sound crazy to most guys but i dont really care for tits. If i can grip em we good to go. I think C's are perfect. If i had to choose between tits and ass im definitely fucking the chick with the nice ass. Its an urban thing i guess.
Might be an insensitive question but as a white dude do you feel you prefer some nice boobs or is that just a stereotype. I always had it in my head us minorities preferred chicks with booties and you white guys preferred some nice boobies over booty
for example
Aaron: Haha, I think any guy would prefer those two to just about anything. Damn.
In general, you want a good ratio. Everyone knows that. I think every guy loves a good ass. I'm big on tits but I could go for a girl without them with no problem. If something turns me on about a girl, I can get over her not having tits/ass. But yeah, if you checked my porn log, I'm almost always typing in big tits.
But if a girl's hot, she's hot.
Lawz, I'm gonna give you an inside tip on a deal I've proposed and am very ready to do. You give me, and the rest of BBS, your feedback. Nick Anderson for Toni Kukoc.-Aaron
Outlawz: Good ratio ftw
Anderson has much better numbers than i thought. 9.2 rbs as a sg is remarkable. If you want to win right now i say do it. I think Kukoc might be the better player in the long run but Andersen is only 26 and in his prime so its a good deal for you and a good deal for miami seeing as their not really contenders right now.
Say something about each gm from the east and ill comment on the gms from the west.. rate em 1 to 10 and put a comment-Outlawz
Aaron:
Blue-He's really proven himself. I'd give him a solid 7.7. I think his biggest area of weakness is trading, just because he doesn't make himself very active in trades, but he's on a tear right now with building great teams.
Manas-6. I remember he did pretty well in the first BBS, and he's doing a nice job now, but getting CYd is a big stain on his resume, so I'd have to keep it at a 6. Good guy though!
Maniac- 10.0 FUCKING STUD.
JAH- 6. JAH does nothing with his teams, unfortunately. He waits to hit it big and is content to do very little to make his team better. He's complacent, mostly.
Outlawz- 8.7. Mr. Lawz is the best GM in BBS when he wants to be. When will Mr. Lawz want to be the best GM in BBS? When will he do my trade? Mr. Lawz?
Skillz- 8.2. Big fan of Skillz. He goes after it more than anyone in BBS history and he always find his teams in good shape. I think when he's good he can be the best GM in the league. He catches fire with his trades and that's a great trait. People doubt him but generally have no reason to. He can screw up, but he's a gambler and a good one.
Jeff- 5. Haven't seen him do anything yet. Did a forgettable job in the last BBS and isn't doing well now. My impression of him is that he's another GM who is unwilling to compromise in trade talks, but he could be a great GM and I'm just completely unaware of it. Don't have enough experience with him.
CSDude- N/A. He's done nothing worth critiquing one way or another.
Andy- 7.2. He did a shitty job with the Bulls in the last BBS, but built a championship team with the Jazz and I generally like the way he operates. Good GM.
Pig- 6.8. He won two early rings, which is awesome, but I don't think Pig is exceptional at going ground up with teams. He was so bad in the last BBS, so I don't know what he's capable of, but if he is consistently good in this BBS, I'll be convinced.
DJ-6.5. Loves youth. Builds very nice lineups and before you know it he's rebuilding. I think he was better when he was more familiar with the guys he dealt with. Seems kind of out of the loop these days.
Tiger- 2. I can't say I've ever been a fan of the way he GMs. I think I'm piling on him a bit in this article, which isn't my intention. I just don't think he's much of a GM, mostly because he doesn't seem to care.
Jordan-7. He is inconsistent and only makes deals when he's certain they're the right moves, but he builds very good teams.
UKFan-N/A. Too soon to tell. He did a good job justifying his move to Spence and is set on rebuilding. That's all I know though.
Outlawz:
Martinez - 5.9 - Clippers are off to a great start so that'll give marty room to talk shit but let's be real here. This guy has one of THE worst resumes. If he can keep this up maybe i can give him a better grade but he doesnt have the ability too
Insane - 6.1 - Hasnt really done much in his previous stints but hes been pretty solid these first seasons. Gonna have to keep it up to get a better grade though. I think he can be good though
Dan - 8.0 - Talk about hittin the motherfucking jackpot. Dan has his swag back. Hes a guy that win rings but i would like to see him have longer stints of contention. One of the better gms
Nanz - 9.4 - Top 3-4 gm at the least. His teams always contend and contend for a long time. Tied with me for most rings in the last bbs. He's a problem
Nova - 7.1 - Doesnt take any gambles ever. Kinda gay but can build solid teams. He hit the lottery with mj and has tried to put pieces around him. I'm liking his effort in this version but needs to take off the skirt permanently
Matt - 6 - Just hasnt done much in any version. This version hes been dealt a bad hand and its not really his fault. Can be a really good gm but needs to step it up. Resume so far is not looking good.
Habes - 7.8 - Need to see him win that ring. I think hes playing the game much smarter than previous versions. Hes taken some gambles but i respect that. Has built a dangerous team with malone, ewing, and nick andersen. Will it be enough remains to be seen. Good gm though as long as he stays the course
Mops - 5 - Seems like a coo dude but he seems confused with his team. Do something and pick a direction. Dont know enough to really say if hes good or bad but its leaning more towards the bad right now honestly speaking
CC - 7 - Can be a good gm if the right pieces fall to him. Will never be the guy that goes out and gets the best players unlesss its a safe move. Solid gm and his one liners always cracks us up.
Greg - 5.5 - Love greg as a member of bbs but his teams are always kinda in the middle.
Ashes - 7.3 - One of the better gms but his team is sucking right now. Went all out in trying to build a championship team but so far that has not panned out. Good gm though but seems to be at a crossroad without any of his picks for a while and his team playing like a lotto team
Aar - 7.6 - Good gm but tought to deal with at times. Been kinda inactive. Will be interesting to see how his team plays when hes on his contract year next season
ducky - 6.7 - Reminds me of Nova. Play it safe but always have solid teams. Gm's kinda gay but to each his own i suppose.
mark - 9.0 - Top gm. Always builds winners. If you want to be a good gm study this guy.
Jesus that was a lot of questions!!
