1. New league, new faces and new rules. Are you disappointed in the previous BBS' abrupt "demise" or are you excited about starting a new league? Is there anything you would like to see change from the last version of BBS to this one that hasn't been mentioned yet? If you are new to BBS completely, tell us why you wanted to join.
nova -I'm excited about starting a new league. The last BBS was an awesome league, it lasted a long time, and it's something to be proud of. However, I think it was time for a new league. I know I personally was no longer 100% interested in the league, so it's nice to have a restart. IAs for changes, I really think everything is great as is.
aar - I hated the abrupt end of the last BBS. It just isn't the way that a league should ever end. At the same time, I knew that Spencer had made his mind up, so I rolled with the punches. I know how much work Spencer puts into his league and that whatever happened would be good.
As for changes, there's nothing radical that I think should be done. I think that BBS had a lot of tweaks along the way to perfect the league.
jeff -It was unfortunate how the last version of BBS ended, but I think the new league will boost activity. Certain guys had obviously become disinterested with they're teams and activity in the league was getting a bit stagnant. I'm excited about the new league but I'd rather we started without a creation draft. The first two or three years of Free Agency are going to be useless. I would like Spencer to give GM's shorter leashes in regards to activity. If someone is inactive they should be fired, regardless of tenure.
jah - --Well I must say I'm a little bit of both. I did have the best team in the league and our oldest player was 29. I did get two conference titles and one BBS title but I wanted to get a few more. This new league will bring new challenges though. I am looking forward to seeing what this team can do. I am glad that the league has no 'owed' picks from the start. I think that will help keep things a little more balanced.
Scott At first, I didn't like the fact that we were starting over. I felt like we were getting into the peak of retro (late 70s) and the Magic/Bird draft along with the Jordan/Hakeem draft would have started to bring some more excitement back into the league. But after we got restarted, I realized how much energy the league can instantly create by evidence of us finishing the creation draft by Monday night. It's quite impressive to finish up a draft essentially over a holiday weekend and that's it!
As far as changing anything, I really am not sure if there's anything I'd like to see changed. I think that Spencer does a good job of finding new ways to increase activity if/when it starts to get low.
Pig - Not at all. It is time for me personally to start a new chapter and I am happy for it. I was just getting the hang of things in SAS though but I am optimistic and excited for the future of BBS. I think this BBS is going in the right direction and nothing really needs to be changed. The only thing I enjoyed that disappeared in the last BBS was the user created players for drafts and it looks like it is coming back. If it ain't broke don't fix it and BBS definitely ain't broke. I am looking forward for innovative ideas for the future as the league is always expanding its horizons.
2. We all want to win the championship obviously, but some of us are in worse or in better shape then others. Discuss your goals for this season and next and how you look to accomplish them.
nova -My goal is to win at least one title in the first three seasons. I had the luck to get Jordan, but I've also had a lot of trouble making trades with my future picks because I do have Jordan. I've been told by about 1/3 of the league that they don't want my picks because they won't be worth anything. So that has made it hard to trade, and so I've had to draft well. I feel like I've got a team that's one or two pieces away from being the best team in the league, but we haven't simmed yet, so who knows. I'm hoping as the season progresses and maybe even next season, my trading opportunities pick up and I'll be able to make real deals to improve my team. Basically, I don't expect to win a title this year, but hopefully next year or the following one.
aar- My goal is to scout the league. I know that my team isn't good enough to win - we are a young team with Clyde Drexler running the show. I want to gauge the league's players and try to build a nice young core.
jeff - -I have Majerle, who I think is an underrated young talent. At 25 he still has plenty of room to improve. The rest of my team is a bit of a wildcard, Brian Shaw and Felton Spencer are young players who could go either way. I have 5 future picks from the Lakers that I could use in the next few years to acquire the veterans needed to win. I'd love to land a franchise player via the draft in the next year or two, that way I can have a central player to form my team around.
jah - really don't know how my team will sim. I hate losing 50+ games in a season and with the 28th pick I was in no shape to compete for the title. I did manage to put together a fairly young team that should be able to score with the best of them. This seems to be an inside dominated league for the moment and we match up with the best of them there. Hopefully Smits can be the force in the paint on defense that will allow our offense to dominate. The next few years I plan to build a foundation and if we find ourselves winning make that extra move or two that will give us a better chance to take that next step
Scott - Just like I did when we restarted with the last league, I decided I wanted to win immediately once I saw that I landed a top 5 pick. Since I got Ewing with the #5 pick, I decided that it would be best to surround him with some good ball handlers and great defenders. That's exactly the philosophy I took last time with Alonzo Mourning. I ended up winning the championship then, and I'm hoping by acquiring an extra 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pick I should be able to create another deep team with some offensive spark off the bench and lots of defense and ball handling in the starting lineup.
pig- Well my goal is to win a championship, or contend in the next two years then start a rebuild. I think I can accomplish them as I have a pretty stellar team. I think Skillz is out of his mind and looking at the first sim and where teams stand I have to give Blue my nod for the best draft. He stayed composed and patient and in the end looks like he probably has the best team right now in the league. I don't know what I can do on the trading front but I will try to expand to the best of my ability. I am going to have to because I think there are a few teams in front of me in the talent department.
3. There are already clear favorites to contend for the championship , the most obvious one being the New York Knicks. Are they the team the beat? Did they destroy their future tremendously by dealing away all their picks and drafting key players most over the age of 30?
nova -I think it's too early to say. We have no idea how players will sim. I think ti was highly risky to deal that many picks for players who have yet to play a game. Sure, on paper they've got a nice paper, but many of their core players are aging, and with a complete lack of future picks, they could be in really awful shape 5 years down the line. Now, if they do play to their abilities on paper, then maybe it's worth it, but it's risky, and something I can't support.
aar- If the Knicks don't win the championship, I'll be shocked. I think that they did the right thing when it comes to creation leagues. Now is the easiest time to win and establish your franchise. Skillz will win one or two championships in a row, which is more than most GMs in the last BBS.
jeff - -There has to be some give and take o right? Eventually it will hurt teams like NY and LA that they dealt away all their picks, but if they have a championship or two that would make it worth it. There are so few times that can actually compete right now, a team like LA, NY, or Charlotte has a very real shot at stealing a few championships.
jah - -The Knicks are one of probably 6-7 teams that are going to contend for the title this year. And yes they did give up a great deal of their future. I like the Lakers team too. They have a great inside out type of game. I could see them coming out of the west. Overall I see the (Jazz, Rockets, Lakers,Nuggets, Knicks, Bobcats, Hawks,Nets) As the 8 teams that could come away with the home court in round 1 of the playoffs.
Scott - I was looking through teams last night and felt that some teams were able to trade and get more top talent than others while others were able to surround that top talent with a lot of depth as well. I think that the Knicks did a great job of that. I usually love to build a deep team, and I think that the Knicks are probably deeper and more talented than me. I think that the Knicks are indeed the team to beat this season. This is Skillz, though, that we're talking about so it's hard to say if he'll end up with anyone over the age of 30 by the time the season's over! I doubt he traded away his future too drastically because of the amount that he trades.
Pig - No and we will find that out pretty soon. I think the Nets are the team to beat and the Eastern Conference is levels above the Western as far as talent is concerned. What the Knicks did is absolutely atrocious and I think will haunt them in the future. Skillz says he can always get his picks back but with 10+ gone in the beginning of this BBS combined with the lack of younger stars I am going to bet against him. I think the whole depth strategy he took was ridiculous. If your gonna deal so much why not try and grab a superstar.
Just looking at the first sim The Knicks, Nets and Cats are going to be running the East. Raptors look pretty tough as well haven't played anyone too tough though. Have to give Philly some credit with DRob in the middle.
I really doubt anyone in the West can compete with the higher tier East teams. Who knows though.
4. Some GMs have been left out, some already fired, some that people did not want win. Name any GM that you would either want to see in this league get in and name anyone you think should be thrown out.
nova -I honestly think the majority of people who deserve to be here are here. It'd be cool to have Dash in here I guess.
aar- I would love to see Dash come in.
As for thrown out, I don't want to see anyone thrown out, but I hope that Traves responds to my future PMs or my opinion on that may change
jeff - -Obviously the guy I'd like to see in the league would be Dash. He's a very good GM and also very active. He is also freakishly tall so that brings something to the table. I can't really think of anyone that I would want out of the league right now, but I'm sure in a few weeks the inactive guys will get weeded out.
Jah - I say we get Marty and Tiger on a soccer field. They each get 10 penalty kicks with the other playing goaltender. Whoever wins stays and whoever loses gets replaced by ..umm Lumley. Yeah... Na in all seriousness I'm fine with the group that we have.
Scott - I'm going to go with the obvious (and probably most popular) choice for who I'd want to see in the league. And that would be Reilly. It's hardly realistic to see him get back into the sim leagues, but I'd love it if he did. There are a lot of guys who have been in BBS for a while and don't really realize what Reilly did while he was here. He had a way of raping you in a deal while still being able to make the deal seem very friendly on the surface.
As far as throwing people out, I'm not going to say much for that. I think the performance of each GM should speak for itself. I'm not much of an activity person, and I probably never will. I check the league all the time and make changes and discuss trades when necessary. I just don't get in on all the random postings and arguments/discussions that happen on the boards. So for that, I will never be one to say someone should get outed strictly as a measure of his post count. I'd say let the Contract Year or the GM's handling of their team speak for itself.
Pig - No one yet. Like to see Dash in here though.
5. Who will be the first GM to get fired in their CY(not for their inactivity) and then name someone who you think will more than likely be fired for inactivity or some other reason.
nova -I'm gonna say Heat Flash just because I don't know much about him & am not a big fan of his roster. I think Matt is most likely to get fired for activity. Or me if I get busy again.
aar- I have no idea for contract year. It's way too early to tell.
Possibly Andy for inactivity.
Jeff- -No idea, but there are plenty of teams in the middle range who won't be good enough to compete with the teams that moved a ton of picks in order to get talent in the draft. This is the type of team that will get in trouble in the next few years.
Jah - Andy always seems to be in his contract year. I guess he is in the most danger. Pig is usually there too but I think his team is good. Umm the person most likely to be fired for 'another reason' is probably Marty...just because it has happened before.
Scott - It's so hard to think about the CY when all teams are starting with 4 years on their plate. However, I'm gonna go with Cleveland here. This has nothing to do with Tiger's GMing ability because I think every GM in here is capable of making a winner in 4 years. The reason I chose Cleveland, though, is that I feel they had a poor draft. While Tiger stated that he wasn't able to spend as much time on it as he wanted, the fact of the matter is that the talent on this team to start with just isn't on par with other teams. Other teams are either in a tanking mode to get some top talent early and have a horde of picks. Cleveland, though, is probably a step below the playoffs and probably has too much talent to tank.
As far as activity goes, a lot of the fresh faces to the league have been super active thus far. I think that if anyone is going to be let go because of inactivity (and subsequent team struggles), it will probably be someone who is dealing with some personal shit. I'm not going to name any names here because I don't see people being let go for inactivity if it's not for some unforeseen event
Pig - With the new CY rule I think its going to be a lot tougher for GM's to be fired. HeatFlash is going to stick out the most to me right now. Nothing against him but he didn't show much (didn't really have much time) in the last BBS. Wasn't impressed at all with his draft either. On an activity front the only one I can possibly see getting fired is Outlawz. Just seems like he has been getting disinterested for a while. I don't think the way he drafted was the boost he need to give him an activity jump. I don't know only time will tell though.
6. BBSW is in a state of turmoil. Our owner Ashes, has been very lackadaisical with the way he has managed the league and now they are in economic trouble. Do we need a new owner? Who should be the new owner? And who deserves a mother f'n TITLE SHOT!?!?!?
nova -No, I trust in Ashes. He'll turn things around. XAVIER MASON deserves a title shot!
aar - Mr. Cool Ice deserves to be the champion. He is the Dirk Nowitzki of sim wrestling an underrated MVP.
We should also bring in Jim Cornette to run the league.
Jeff -Ashes sucks. He barely sims, makes excuses, and doesn't promote the truly great wrestlers. We might need Spencer to take over the league Vince McMahon style and turn it into functioning corporation. I think the big Dick Cheese needs a shot at some sort of title. He's the type of showman this company needs.
Jah - -I just joined yesterday so I really can't input on this that much.
Scott - Not in BBSW, but here are my answers...no, if necessary Pig, and whoever is the #1 contender (however Ashes decides that!)
Pig - You deserve a title shot. Happy?
7. Anything else you would like to add?
nova -Mormons Rule!
aar -
I hate creation drafts. Hopefully people make fucking trades!
Let's make this league a winner.
Jeff- Ed.* (Jeff did not add anything, it’s not like anyone care’s about Jeff’s opinion anyways!!!!!)
Jah - The people who have been bitching the past two days need to stfu. Spencer put like 10 + hours into crap yesterday and today and I ran the draft for many hours with a freaking sinus headache. Stop bitching
Scott - Very excited about the restart of the league now that we are here. Definitely looking to try and win for the first handful of years in the league, and I think I've used the draft quite well to set myself up to win. Hopefully with winter coming upon us, the activity should start to see an increase. Also, it continues to amaze me how many seasons we can sim as a league and then restart with the same amount of activity/excitement and do so with nearly half of the league being involved in about 60 seasons of the league (damn, that's a lot, and it may even be more!).
Pig - This roundtable fucking blew.
Closing comments: I honestly do not see Skillz winning it all, any time soon. I don’t know why I just don’t. I think there were a few disappointing picks in terms of GMs but they should be weeded out soon. I deserve a mother fucking Title shot and we need to make an angle where Spencer takes over the company and throws Ashes out. I can’t believe we are like 3rd in the Western Conference, Michael Adams is beastly.
Pig, I know this isn’t your typical Hot Seat or Pig Pen or whatever crap that you guys do lol, but I wanted to make an article that was relevant to the league not about who hates who and do you think my dick would look good in Shakira’s ass type questions.
Yeee.

Yeee.
