I never really got the "ride it out without my picks" mentality. That pretty much always leads to having an aged roster with limited value, like has/will continue to happen with Game. Lets say the Nets dealt MRR for his picks back and some other nice stuff from me. He deals off McAddo for picks, maybe gets something for Boswell, either keeps or deals Theus, and in 3 seasons of tanking he has a nice core of 3 lottos+whatever McAdoo/Theus/Boswell fetch in trades. If you choose to wait three years, instead you end up with a 28 year old MRR making18 mill, an older and limited value McAdoo, and older and limited value Boswell, and Theus. How is that a better position than dealing for your picks and other youth now? If I have to ride out my picks I tend to do it til the team only has one or two to give me so I have to get other assets in the deal, or can deal a lesser piece than they want...price goes down once teams realize that they arent gonna get anything out of those picks if they dont give them back |
