1) The Blazers have looked pretty shaky this year. Have they fallen off or just gotten off to a slow start?
Slow start… broph knows what he’s doing and I’m sure a tweak in his dc or two will solve some issues… I think he’s fine.
2) You are drafting a team to win this year. Who do you pick first?
No doubt the Boston Celtics...as long you have an established big 3 and surround those guys with complimentary players, your chances of winning championships are usually high... it's really tough for other teams to match up with them as well...so obviously boston is the choice if i were drafting a team to win right away. (ed note - obviously cc has reading comprehension issues. Clearly I didn't ask who the favorite was and wanted him to draft a player).
3)Aar gave up on trying to win a ring with Bingo after 2 years. Did he give up too early or was it a smart move to trade Bingo when he still had talent?
Aar’s been around forever and he knows what he’s doing… I think it was a very smart move, especially when the East is tough right now with the Celtics taking over… Bingo is getting old and I think it was time to get good value for him before he was no longer attractive and trade-able with that max contract… and Aar did get good value for him by sending him to Washington for two very good pieces in marvin barnes and reggie theus… then continued to trade them for more assets and picks… now Washington is stuck with bingo and are struggling right now… I think it was great timing for aar to trade bingo… don’t see Washington or anyone else getting through boston in the east.
4) Which picks would you rather get from Repole, NOH futures or NJ Nets futures?
Obviously the Hornets 1sts… their team looks ugly right now and doesn’t look to have a very bright future atm… what the hell happened to new Orleans… I remembered they had a great core one time, with mccarter running the point…but since then they are stuck with old aging vets and no great young talent…I even mentioned in a past article that the hornets would have a good future… but quite frankly, I was wrong… repole will get great value for those picks... as for new jersey, nanz is smart and will try to compete every year without his picks as possible…I trust him more than kobe in gming.
5) Who has the best non-rookie contract in the league?
Gonna go with Caldwell Jones here…bigs are hard to get in this league and if you have one making,
$9,752,800 $10,565,533 $11,378,266
then fortunate for you… jones is having a great season right now… I think he has one of the best deals in the league… not too old or too young…he’s only 29.
6) LA Lakers or LA Clippers, which is the better LA team?
LA Lakers…they have the best PG in the west (obviously magic in the east) and have better talent surrounding around him… the clippers are playing well as of late but i see the lakers having the better record in the end… Money > any of the clippers.
7) Nuggets – are they for real or is their record a function of a hot start and a ton of home games?
I think they are foreal atm… when I look at your roster, your players seem to fit together pretty well…you have defenders on top, and shooters on the bottom… and you are running outside… it’s definitely working for you... but come playoff time, I don’t see you getting through the first or second round (ed note - obviously cc is just trolling bc i'm taking the ship).
8) Who would you rather have – Gervin, English or Dantley?
English is having a monster year, but I don’t trust his defense…I could probably say the same for dantly...so I have to go with gervin here… he’s not shooting well atm but the talent is definitely there…he could score AND defend… say you could put him on a team like golden state when you have shotblockers at the top and shooters on the bottom… I think his game would flourish better in a situation like that… lol not hating on biggies team or anything like that… gervin is one of my fav players in the league.
8) Rick Robey, Mark Eaton or Bill Laimbeer?
Mark Eaton… dude is simply shotblocker and rebounder… robey is a rebounder and laimbeer is a shooter…I rather have the guy on top protecting my rim while the other 4 guys do the rest of the work.
9) Which team has a better shot of getting cyd in the future, OKC or NOH?
Kobe… like I stated earlier, the future of his team is shot and their vets are aging… aaron will be fine in okc…just needs to have cap room without their picks and try their luck from there…really don’t see aaron getting cy’d…and who knows…he might get a “friends” trade type of deal to help him at some point (ed note - agree about the friends trade thing).
10) Boston Celtics seem to be the favorite to win the ship this year but their cap situation is problematic. In fact, if Sonny Parker doesn't resign cheap they might lose him in fa. Should they try to do something this year to get under or should they try to win and deal with it next year?
Try to win…why fix something that isn’t broken atm...worry about parker later… but if dbw has something under his sleeve, then make that move.
11) Bucks have just traded off ML Carr and Marvin Barnes; How did aar make out?
Aar made out very well…in the end he has great assets and solid picks… I think he’s leaning towards the rebuilding direction and that’s very smart, considering there’s no chance to win this year with boston on top.
12) The 2046 class is ready for their first fa. Looking back it can be argued that the top 5 picks then would still be the top 5 picks today, albeit assumedly in a different order (http://bbs2010.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=46draft&action=display&thread=22064&page=1). Redraft the top 5 picks.
1. San Antonio Spurs - Tree Rollins C 7'1'' 235 21 B- C D- A- B- A
2. Portland Trail Blazers - Alex English SG 6'7'' 190 22 B+ C+ C C C A
3. Cleveland Cavaliers - Adrian Dantley SF 6'5'' 208 20 A- C+ D+ C+ C+ A
4. New Orleans Hornets - Micheal Ray Richardson PG 6'5'' 189 21 B C A- A- C+ A
5. Indiana Pacers - Robert Parish C 7'0'' 230 23 B- C- D B B A
13) What would you be willing to give up for Bingo Smith?
Tough to say atm… I don’t see Washington trading him anytime soon so there’s no point of me making me an offer…probably my bigs would be involved +++ something like that… but don’t see my team with bingo ever happening lol.
14) Which team has a better gm, Atl or Was?
Mehh… at the end of the day, probably Jay based off history and experience… i remember jay had an unstoppable team in another bbs version…I’m sure he could come out of his shell and be the old jay that we knew and loved from the past… come back jay!
15) Who is the most underrated gm in the league?
Me. next question.
16) Which Bulls player would you rather have at this point, Dickey, Brown or Gus?
If you told me 2 years ago, Dickey, when he averaged 21-12 and over 4 blocks..but now, I have to go with gus Williams… dude has improved every season and is one of the best pg’s in the league…only 26 averaging incredible numbers… I rather have him at this point… fred brown is a beast too but I prefer great pg’s over 2 guards.
17) The 1980 draft class is one of the worst ever. The only top name talent in the draft is Kevin Mchale and even his stats are less than spectacular. Going by their NBA careers who should go top 5 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980_NBA_Draft ?
McHale, Kiki, JBC, Toney, Griffith or Ruland? lol I really don’t know…this draft is terrible….
18) Who is the worst gm in bbs?
Can’t say who is doing a horrible job right now since those type haves been replaced already… no one is the worse gm in bbs… can’t judge by team record or anything like that since they are probably tanking or rebuilding…however, if you don’t own your picks and are losing every year, then you got problems lol.
19) Who is more important to the Celtics, Dr. J or Magic?
Magic…enough said…last years Finals MVP…can’t explain any further.
Slow start… broph knows what he’s doing and I’m sure a tweak in his dc or two will solve some issues… I think he’s fine.
