Are we ever gonna get cross system multiplayer it's not possible and that would be stupid... just buy an xbox 360 no one plays on ps3 anywyas yea, aside from the majority of my friends though most of them have all three (with the Wiis in the closet).

Don't see why it would be stupid for us consumers though and that's all I care about.

Apparently Portal 2 is cross platform online on PS3 with PC. Had no idea, and pretty impressive. Wonder what kind of backend stuff they did to make that possible.

I'm ignorant on the subject but if they were able to make games where PS3 and 360 guys can play with PC guys then impossible doesn't seem like the right term for cross system multiplayer.
I would buy that Microsoft and Sony would never bother because they would lose money + it would mean they had to work together in the development of all future systems

I would buy that Microsoft and Sony would never bother because they would lose money + it would mean they had to work together in the development of all future systems it's two totally different consoles... games are produced with PCs then developed for consoles.. hence why majority of all games shown at E3 are running on high end PCs... Portal 2 really isn't cross-platform... all it is it let's you use Steam's Cloud service so your Portal 2 save on PS3 can be used on PC... I don't think you can actually do co-op with a PC player though

So? That doesn't really change the cross platform play aspect. You still have to make sure your code base on both sides is essentially identical.
