1) The Bucks shook things up by trading Darnell Hillman and Mike Gale for three Grizzlies future 1sts and Jim Eakins. Was this a smart move?
Nanz: I think it was smart. You said it yourself, you weren't gonna win a title so might as well get some picks down the line and reset your CY. Hillman is looking like a nice big tho and hopefully pig can put some ACs into his game. He does 4 blocks a game which is sick and he can get 10+ rebounds like he is now, that contract doesn't look as bad as we all thought. Gale is also another nice player who looks promising with some work. He is 26 on a nice contract and he should help pig out a ton. Overall these are pretty good players that pig got but those Grizz picks look to be promising a few years down the line. Good move.
Aar: I think that it would have ended up being much better had the Grizzlies DC not gotten screwed up. Those picks have much more value if the Grizzlies avoid their CY next year. That said, if the Grizzlies end up getting CY'd, the picks go up astronomically. Either way, it's a very risky assessment.
2) Who is the most valuable player on the Nets?
Nanz: I would probably have to go with Kermit. I love Carr and he has sick ratings. He can play any position on the field and play it very well. Next sim i;ll try him out at the 4 full time and see what he can do. Rudy is also not far behind with A inside and A defense. His mid and strength just got a boost with some ACs so he is a very underrated player in the league... maybe the most underrated. Value wise though its Kermit just because he is a big and who is starting to block shots. He did 3.5+ in pre-season and i see him doing that soon full time. His midrange also got the freebie and an AC so it should be a lot better than it was before. I think he can do 12+ rebounds a game and he shoots 50% from the field.... not to mention 1+ steals. Kermit Washington C 25 6'8'' 230 A- C- C A+ A- B those ratings look pretty nice too. Kermit is the most valuable but Carr and Rudy are right there.
Aar: I actually think it's M.L. Carr. He can play any position (aside from starting point guard) and will do a great job. I think that Kermit is awesome, but Carr is so multi-dimensional and talented. Tomjanovich is in the mix too now that he has "A" inside and "A" defense. He's not quite as valuable as Carr or Washington, but certainly would be considered top-30 in value if I re-did my top-50.
3) Would you trade Kermit Washington for Bill Walton straight up?
Nanz: This would be a tough one just because Bill is turning out to be pretty damn good. I think a lot of people would pick Bill but I'll stick with Kermit. Bill's scoring is higher just because there are 3 other guys scoring 20+ per game next to kermit. The one thing i wish Kermit had like Bill was his midrange lol. Its a tough sell tho because Bills numbers are better across the board except for FG% but i just think its because he is on a worse team. I'll stick to Kermit because he is ma boy and i do like that A+ defense A- A+ A- inside d and rebounding... not bad.
Aar: I wouldn't make this deal either. I just appreciate Walton more as a franchise guy. That's not saying that Kermit couldn't be a franchise player, but I think that he's better suited as a secondary star rather than the primary star. Walton became really good this year and I love his progression. I think that with Kermit, right now, what you see is what you get.
4) What can the Pistons do to turn things around?
Nanz: We've talked about this before and Andy knows he has to rebuild right away. Trade Scott for some good pieces and tank his ballsack off. He also has Elmore who blocks shots but isn't that great. I know he has said that he is not gonna rush it and that he will wait for that right deal but he needs to be careful with that CY... He is 8-18 next thing you know he might try to reset his CY by dealing away his picks out of desperation and not be able to rebuild for another 8 years. Get your picks pack and do it!
Aar: Trade Elmore for a better PG and dump Murphy. Keep Scott, boost his numbers and then trade him. I think that the Pistons have good pieces, but they're just not clicking at all.
5) Will the Grizzlies win 42 this year with the additions of Hillman and Gale?
Nanz: I think he will... or at least he get the 8th seed. He adds a nice shotblocker to start or come off the bench for him, who is also doing 10+ rebounds so far. Also, he has a nice upgrade at the 2 because Cannon is like lolz what? he starts ? awk lolz #BK. He has Bing at the point who is dirty and Denton up front. Its not a great team but it should be good enough to make the playoffs no doubt. I Know thats something pig really wants.
Aar: After their recent depth chart setback, they are in big trouble. They actually beat the Warriors with Bing at power forward! They have some decent pieces, but they really need to go on a nice run to make 42 wins happen.
6) Will the Hornets make the playoffs this season?
Nanz: Ummm I think so. Beard is actually pretty damn good and Cowens is a very nice big to have. He also has a very nice point guard is Andre which means he can deal D'Antonie for a solid player at a different position. Mix is also putting up nice numbers so far this season shooting over 51% and 23 ppg. He needs more rebounding but i think thats something he can get in the off-season pretty easily. The bottom of the west seems to be pretty weak so why not? I'll say he makes it.
Aar: No. I think that they've put together a nice core, but all of the teams that are ahead of them right now are either better or just as good as they are. Because they started late, they're in a bit of hot water. I like what they've put together, but the pieces seem incompatible.
7) Who will finish with a worse record, the Pacers or Suns?
Nanz: I have to go with the Suns. The Suns are in their first year of tanking with their picks i believe and they don't really have a ton of talent which is to be expected. The pacers on the other hand have this guy Alex English SG 26 35.0 29.8 7.2 2.1 1.5 0.1 2.2 .467 .886 .405 who is having quite a season lol. When you have a guy like that with a solid point guard like Lucas, you will end up winning some games here and there... maybe 1 or 2 but that should be the difference between them and the Suns.
Aar: Hard to disagree, but the East has better teams, so I'll go with the Pacers having a worse record. The Suns have a worse team, but in the spirit of Point/Counterpoint, I'll go the other way.
8) Who is the best point guard in BBS?
Nanz: Best point guard right now... You could say Glock but i'll go with Bing. Dave Bing PG 15 36.1 23.1 5.1 11.4 1.1 0.3 1.7 .502 .957 .444 those numbers are pretty damn awesome. Good percentages along with high assists getting everyone involved. High scoring, carrying that team! And can also rebound the ball which is a huge plus. Right now i think Bing is the best point guard in the league but there are some nice young guys coming up especially this guy John Mengelt PG 26 35.8 26.8 4.9 8.8 1.2 0.3 2.2 .471 .921 .441 pretty damn sexy for big habes. Gus just had a nice sim for play and MRR should be dirty soon. Right now i'll go Bing
Aar: I'm going to go with Mengelt. I think that he's looked so good this year. He's the only point guard among the scoring leaders, he's limited his turnovers and is shooting great percentages. Bing doesn't have much of a future at power forward, but he's playing well at the point as usual.
9) Which player has the most interesting stats in the league?
Nanz: Ummmmm interesting? I mean Bingo is sick but i guess i'll go with Brophs Bobby Jones SF 28 37.0 21.5 7.6 1.9 2.8 2.5 0.6 .526 .928 .500. The guy does it all....Ge covers every stat-line and he doesn't have the nicest ratings around. He is no Bingo but with those ratings those stats are pretty damn awesome. Just a fun player all the way around... damn. But you wanna know who is really interesting just because i'm dying to see him start? Chris Ford! Chris Ford SG 18 14.7 8.1 1.7 0.9 0.4 0.1 0.3 .553 .946 .486 awesome %s and had a nice TC going up outside inside and d With some ACs this guy can be very good.
Aar: How about Bill Smith? Bill Smith PF 35 6'5'' 193 D B D- B- B- D is getting sixth man minutes and putting up 3 blocks per game. Have you ever seen someone with D inside ratings get minutes? He's tying his career high in blocks per game and doesn't turn over the ball. Smith has to be one of the weirdest players in league history because despite wretched ratings, he gets minutes!
10) You have a ton of assets, come up with a fake offer for Bingo Smith and tell me why Repole should accept. I'll do the same with my team.
Nanz: LOL damn this is tough because i love maaaa boysss. The offer would have to be at least Kermit and Carr for Repole to consider. Would i do it? who knows lolz. But year two young studs for Reople could be pretty good Bingo is 30 now! he has to start slowing down right?!?!?! Nah repole should just keep him forever. Let him retire there imo lol
Aar: My offer would be 15 1sts. 2047-55 Thunder 1sts, 48, 49, 51, 52 Grizzlies 1sts and 47, 49 Bucks 1sts with expiring filler and I'll throw in Bill Willoughby to seal the deal. That's a tough deal to turn down.
Nanz: I think it was smart. You said it yourself, you weren't gonna win a title so might as well get some picks down the line and reset your CY. Hillman is looking like a nice big tho and hopefully pig can put some ACs into his game.
