1) Which player from the 2045 draft has the best career?
Nanz: I'll go with Roundfield. I didn't really pay much attention to the draft because i didn't have a pick at all so yeah. However, by looking at his notes i would think he is gonna be very very good. We are already short on bigs around the league and he already looks pretty good. He can block shots which is a huge stat gms care about. He also has a nice midrange and he can is a good rebounder with good strength. Oh and he also had A potential and good upside so i think he could be good maybe Hayes? lol i dk but good.
Aar: I'm going with David Thompson. I have a feeling that he could be a 26-28 ppg career scorer and perennial All-Star. I have very little to back this up other than a sheer hunch that he'll end up being the best player in the draft. He was at the top of my draft board and I was praying that he'd fall to me at 6. That said, I think that Alvan Adams has a chance to be really good. His notes weren't overly positive or negative and I feel that he has the best starting ratings of anyone in the draft. He also strikes me as a guy who could dominate at SF if he isn't an overly impressive big man
2) Which BBS treadmill team is most in need of an overhaul?
Nanz: The Pistons i guess. They compete one year and they try to win the next. I really like Andy a lot and his Gifs always put a on my face but he needs to tare it all down and just tank tank tank. 3 years of full out tanking and just starting that team over. He has said he needs to step up and i think it all starts with a full rebuild. I get that it can be boring especially for an active GM but its gotta be done.
Aar: I'm going to go with the Spurs. New GM, time for some new pieces. They have some quality starters, but nowhere near what's required to compete long-term in the crowded West.
3) People pounced on greeme for the return that he got for Dan Issel. Do you think it was a bad trade for him?
Nanz: Issel is a great player and i know Greeme gave up a lot to get him so eh. It wasn't that bad because Gale is pretty good and locked up for a long time on a nice cheap contract. The rest he got in that deal isn't good because those picks are eh. At the end of the day it was a bad deal because i think he couldn't have gotten a better player with a higher ceiling but Gale isn't bad especially for the outside offense he is trying to run.
Aar: Greeme is a chronic over-thinker and he justifies moves in his head when he looks at the long-term return. He gave up an All-Star and got back some promising pieces. However, I'm certain that the clincher for him was getting the Wizards pick in 46. They're a team that is clearly re-tooling. However, the Wizards have enough assets to prevent giving up a pick that's better than 10th overall with what they currently have. Really, the 76ers 2047 1st is the X-Factor in this deal. If that pick ends up being top-15, this is a good trade for Greeme and people will have overreacted
4) If you were the Clippers GM, what direction would you take your team in?
Nanz: I mean that team is good but not great. I like Moore a lot and Archie is good but I just don't see them as a finals team. If Neal has a good TC and becomes that great big Marty hopes he will become then yeah so he still has hope. He has holes at the 3 and 2 which i guess he can try to fill with some role players and keep on contending. Archie is getting old though and so is Moore so i would think Marty is already looking to see if he can rebuild one more time lol.
Aar: Trade their futures, Haywood and Tiny and try to make a run. The West is deep, but every year, it's anyone's conference. They have a sick frontcourt and Neal is only getting better. A studly small forward who is past his prime is all that they need to become a contender. Archie is a top-3 point guard and with the right pieces, the Clippers can make a push
5) Since the 2040 Draft, who has been the worst top-5 pick?
Nanz: Man there are a lot of good choices for this one. You have one of my boys Wicks who never really panned out but still shoots around 50% so its ok. Maybe ill AC him LOL nah. But yeah he is maybe the 2nd worst. I'll go with Mike Green. I know Broph drafted him and after that first TC...well he wasn't very happy. He never developed and it took me a while to know what team he was on. That draft was very weak so he shouldn't have been a top 5 pick but oh well it happens. He is the worst for sure. (Yo wicks i love you no hard feelings)
Aar: I'm picking George McGinnis here. His ratings are nice, but he's not fooling anyone. He doesn't block shots, he shoots bad percentages and he turns over the ball. The Clippers made out like bandits on that Gene Moore trade because McGinnis was supposedly the best asset that they gave up. I don't think that he'll be anything other than a decent starter and regardless of any upside he has remaining, his turnovers are a huge liability.
6) Warren Jabali made the All-League Defensive Second Team last season. Do you think that he's starting to finally have some sort of value?
Nanz: Nah lol. He gets just as many TOs as he does steals. The guy never developed like we thought he would. After his first tc it seemed he would be pretty damn good. I know that when Andy had him i wanted him really bad just because he looked so sexy with those sick ratings. After that his value has gone way down hill being traded for pretty much just expiring. Its not gonna change.
Aar: I'm going to say that the Grizzlies, if they wanted, could get a mediocre 1st for him, which means that he is more valuable than he used to be, which was an untradeable contract. His deal is now manageable with two years remaining at just over $10 mil. per year. He can rebound, which few of this year's swingmen can do. He's a great steals guy and he shoots good percentages. Jabali may actually finally have some sort of value and I'm shocked.
7) The 2045 Draft was such a huge question mark. Who were your top-3 players?
Nanz: I would agree with the top 2. Dawkins seems like he can be a big time player. He is only 18 years old and and spence gave him some nice notes. I know he said he couldn't rebound yet and an eh jumpshot but he has big upside so he should be able to develop it more. Most importantly he is strong and can block shots with good post scoring. Roundfield is older but he looks pretty damn good. Already has a good midrange, good rebounder, and can block shots. He is gonna be pretty good. At the 3 spot i probably wouldn't have taken Gus so early and i also don't get why Play gave up an extra pick to move up cause he would have been there at 4. I think it was between Free and Thompson and i would go with Free just because he doesn't have TO issues and should probably get more assists. They should both be great scorers though, no doubt.
Aar: My top-3 looked like this: David Thompson, Dan Roundfield, Darryl Dawkins. Dawkins being 18 years old makes him more valuable by default. I like Thompson because I think that he's going to be a perennial All-Star. Roundfield I think was the safest pick of the draft and I think he'll be a good big man and I think Dawkins is the highest risk/reward pick due to his age. That said, other than Thompson, I wasn't sold on anyone in the top-7 of this draft and I was thrilled that Adams was on the board at 6. Picking him was a no-brainer.
8) Who is the best Western Conference GM?
Nanz: My friend Big Air. He started rebuilding a few years ago and it wasn't going well at all. He got Bob Mac and then Lucas the next year after jumping in the lotto. Next thing you know he is wheeling and dealing and got himself a ring. If it isn't for injuries his team should have won 60+ instead of the low 50s. I just don't really feel comfortable putting anyone else in the west above him. I know Broph moved out west and he has 3 rings but to me big air put a great team together without having a lot. He took advantage of players not having great value when they get older and he could maybe win another title next year.
Aar: Broph. He always makes trades that he wins and he's a great drafter. He rarely settles for trades that he doesn't win long-term and he submits very methodical depth charts. He's also great at analyzing draft notes and getting great value with his picks. I'd always be afraid to trade him a pick during the draft because you know that he has his eye on a winner.
Nanz: I'll go with Roundfield. I didn't really pay much attention to the draft because i didn't have a pick at all so yeah. However, by looking at his notes i would think he is gonna be very very good. We are already short on bigs around the league and he already looks pretty good.
