1) Fact or Fiction: Repole is the best GM in the league
Styro: Fiction: People are going to say I'm dickriding play or wtv, but he's the best gm, it's just the truth. Repole has done more over the last few years so it's easy to forget how great play's teams were doing when he was going. Repole is a great gm and all, but i'm not sure he'd be all that great if not for the bullshit SG rule he's allowed to exploit right now. I feel like that big at SG thing has singlehandedly made him as successful as he is. He'd probably be good and fine anyways, but that's the only reason you're even asking me this question right now. I think the only GM you can compare to play is Skillz. Skillz always seems to put good teams out there one way or the other even when it looks like he's about suck for a few years. And he does it with no gimmicks. So for me, it's skills and Play and then the rest really.
Aar: Fact: He's probably not the best of all-time, but right now, you'd be hard pressed to find someone better. Injuries have cost him championships and he'd have a dynasty by now if it wasn't for them. He's built an incredibly efficient team and is standing by it, only making additions when he can win a deal hands-down and add to his core. His articles on player efficiency have seemingly disappeared, which leads me to believe that he's simply using them to his benefit. Look at his roster, it is balanced across the board.
2) Other than Bingo, if I could build my team around any player, it would be...
Styro: I'm probably the wrong person to ask this too, cause my answer will probably be biased, but I would build it around Bobby Jones. I mean, he's just a beast, he's getting 3.5 bpg from the SF position. Usually, if there's a good shot blocking SF, they get moved to a big position and start putting up those shot blocking numbers from there, but I'm not sure i've seen a player shot block like that from the SF position. He's young, it looks like he has some upside, Spence stated Jones was one of his favorite players to make and he produces on the offensive end also. My runner-up would probably be Kareem just cause it seems like he has a lot of value.
Aar: To me it's the player that you moved for Jones, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. His career numbers are staggering, as he averages 28.1 ppg, 12.4 rpg and 3.7 bpg on 48% shooting. Additionally, small forwards and shooting guards are a dime a dozen, but prolific big men are really tough to find. Abdul-Jabbar hasn't won a championship yet, but neither has Bingo. If I had to choose the best player at any position when starting a team, I'm taking a big man. Plain and simple.
3) I wish that ______ would try harder
Styro: I wish Jah would try harder. I mean it just seems like he's happy just to make the playoffs sometimes. Even when his teams are good he is nowhere to be found and i don't think he's ever made a power move to take his team to another level. I don't know if it's because of lack of effort, or just lack of time or if maybe he's just too scared to finally have some expectations put on his team. He's just too complacent sometimes.
Aar: I'm going with Andy. He seems to have just lost interest in being a dominant GM, which is really a shame. He builds treadmill teams regularly, then tears them down and then uses his prospects to build another treadmill team. It's excruciating to watch, because I know that he has what it takes to build a championship team.
4) The GM who will surprise us most in the coming years is...
Styro: I think it will be Outlawz. I'm not saying he's a bad gm whose about to break out or anything. I just think many question his activity and effort over his last couple stints in the league along with his sub-par teams he's built. He still hasn't really done nothing to make people think he's going to be more active this time around, but he can't really do much so I think with his upcoming cap and the fact he already renewed his cy might encourage him to put more effort into this team.
Aar: I'm going with dewaynec. I've made some offers to him that make little sense to his team, but are beneficial to see how he reacted and he proved to me that he knows what he's doing. He's staying the course with his rebuild and isn't rushing into anything for the sake of it. He responds to PMs promptly and knows what direction he wants to take his team. I think that the 76ers have a bright future with him at the helm as long as he sticks with his plan.
5) The worst GM in the league is...
Styro: Ehhh, for me it's Game. He just sucks balls. He inherits good teams, leads them to middle seeds in playoffs, holds on to all his pieces until their past their prime and deals them for shit spects like that dude from Greeme. I can't even think of the player's name, that's how shitty the deal was. Plus, it looks like it's gonna take him at least two years to rebuild and he's holding onto Monroe with no real effort to try and trade him for more rebuild pieces. Monroe's value is probably at it's peak right now, i don't get keeping a 29 year old when he's about to get into his dreaded 30's in the middle of a rebuild. He could only milk DBW's assets for so long, so it'll be interesting to see what he does from this point forward.
Aar: JAH. The Jazz are where good players go to die. It's nothing personal, because I like JAH a lot as a person and think that he's an asset to the league, but he just sits on treadmill teams for way too long. Then when those players retire, he drafts top-10 players who all end up being good roleplayers. Other than LeBron James early in the league's history, JAH hasn't had a legitimate franchise player. I hate when he drafts guys that I like because I know that he'll sit on them until they're washed up.
6) If last year's draft was re-done knowing what we know now, who would go 1st overall?
Styro: I think it would be Bobby Jones, he won Rookie of the Year and pretty much does everything you want a player to do. His potential is up there and Bill Walton doesn't look like anything special, he probably would have originally been my #1 pick. Another possible candidate would probably be Barnes, I'm not that high on him, but gm's love blocks so I'd probably just use his value to flip him. I feel like Jones is the obvious #1 though unless Barnes develops some unforeseen offensive prowess.
Aar: Really hard to disagree, but I'm playing devil's advocate and sticking with Walton as the right pick. He had a solid TC and I expect that he has more of a ceiling to be one of the most well-rounded bigs in the league. As I've previously stated, I think that great bigs are better than great swingmen. If I was offered Jones for Walton right now, I'd honestly likely take the deal, but I'd really have to think about it. It is really early in Walton's career and while he's not yet dominant, his first TC shows me that he still has a ton of promise. If all pans out accordingly, I expect A- C B A A C type ratings, which would make him one of the most valuable players in the league. For Jones, B+ B C A C+ C is what I expect at best.
7) The most underrated player in the league is...
Styro: I think I have to go with Dick Snyder. Up until this year, the lack of interest in him as been pretty warranted but he broke out this season and it seems like no one still shows interest in him. He put up 26 ppg and it seems like HF still can't garner enough interest in him to make it worth his while to trade him. Another underrated player in my mind is Wil Jones.
Aar: I'm going to go with Steve Mix. I expect that he'll get a nice offer in the offseason. He puts up great percentages and has really nice ratings, but nobody ever talks about him. As a big man who couldn't block, nobody even blinked at him or his solid ratings, but as an SF, he is a great asset. Rick Roberson is another guy who nobody cares about because he's on the Jazz.
8) If you had to kick one GM out of the league, it would be?
Styro: If i had to kick one GM out of the league it would be Kobe. I mean, is there a bigger dipshit? I doubt it, he got fired the first time for failing to answer pm's. He claims play was the only one to report him, but in reality he was ignoring pm's left and right. He passed up offer after offer for Si Green due to ignoring pm's and he basically just comes on the forum to talk about Alabama players/teams. I don't know why Spence hired him with fresh blood on the waiting list. We hire old gm's who left on bad terms and these new guys who hop on the waiting list join, see they won't get hired cause there's 20 previous failures on the list and then leave, then we get stuck with the same recycled shit. He's a troll, shit gm, dumbass all in one.
Aar: Blue. I like him, but I just don't think he's a worthy GM at this point and he proved that when he had his CY with the 76ers. Kobe is another good choice. He gets back to you on PMs, but his logic is flawed. To me, there a few GMs that are irreplaceable, but I'll get into that on the next edition of this article.
9) The best point guard in the league is...?
Styro: If we're going by simply production, I'd say Jon McGlocklin. He scores a bunch and he's one of the best fg% shooters in the league. He's good to average 28+ ppg a year. He might not get the assists you want from a Point Guard but it seems like passing doesn't matter based on the research by some of the fbb wiz's on here so i ignored assists when evaluating Point Guards for this question. If you want to go by value, i'm going to have to be a homer and say Walt. The PG classes lately have been subpar so there's really no young up and coming beast PG right now it seems. If i had to win a ship right now, i'd probably pick McGlocklin on a one-year basis.
Aar: I'm going with two-time, two-time, TWO-TIME MVP Walt Hazzard. He just doesn't have any weaknesses. He's never been on the All-Defensive team because he's not a stat defender, but he's a lock-down perimeter defender. His TOs have been very low for the last nine seasons. If someone said that I could have any point guard in the league right now for one year, like you mentioned with Glock, I'm taking Hazzard. He's a winner. An underrated point guard is Bob Weiss.
10) The 1st overall pick in this year's draft should be...?
Styro: If i had the first pick, I'd probably pick Chocolate Thunder. An 18 year old with upside is pretty scary since it seems they hold their potential better over their first few years and sometimes even go up while having breakout tc's. He's a big that can score and block shots. It seems like those are the kind of players that hold the most value around here. There are some nice wings and although I wouldn't avoid taking one in the lottery, I would though avoid taking one in top 2/3 just cause there's already so many. Either Dawkins or Gus for me.
Aar: I don't want the first overall pick in this draft because it's such a tough decision. I'm leaning towards David Thompson. He seems like he's going to be a dominant scorer. Roundfield is the most well-rounded it seems and Alvan Adams looks good too. I don't envy whoever has the top pick in this draft because it's such a crapshoot. Right now, I'm 5th projected and if my pick stays there, I certainly won't be upset because it will make my choice just a little bit easier. Every time I read the notes, I like a different player more. Spencer has definitely made this one of the most intriguing and unpredictable drafts in league history.
Styro: Fiction: People are going to say I'm dickriding play or wtv, but he's the best gm, it's just the truth. Repole has done more over the last few years so it's easy to forget how great play's teams were doing when he was going.
