The first Pirates movie is pretty awesome. The second one is good. The third one was just weird. Still, I love the first Pirates. The Libertine is a good movie. Blow is pretty close to a great movie. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is a great movie. Donnie Brasco is a pretty great movie. Ed Wood is an awesome, very underrated movie. It's definitely a great one. Edward Scissorhands is really good. He was also in Platoon which is a great movie. You could have just quoted my post. It would have been the same difference. I missed your post. However, you missed Ed Wood which is one of my favorites! |

Saw Shutter Island over the weekend. Really good film. Finally saw Gangs of New York last week. DDL is the shit. I heard Shutter Island is awful. I don't really get why people say that. It wasn't great certainly, it's not a film I'll remember in five years, but it was a solid film. |

The fact is this is a mediocre Scorcese film but a mediocre Scorcese film is still better than 95% of anything that has been released in the past 6 months. |

True, one of my fav movies but still other than that he has never been in any other Amazing movies. Never understood why he doesn't get better roles. There's so many more actors out there that have been in many great movies but are not as good of an actor as Depp. Not to sound gay, but the first Pirates of the Caribbean was pretty awesome just because of Depp as Jack Sparrow. He's the only actor outside of maybe Ledger that plays that role. Depending on what kind of movies you like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is pretty great. He's also in Platoon which is one of the better war movies of the past (if only because Drama is in it). The thing with Depp is he's a weird motherfucker and his acting goes accordingly. I like a bunch of his movies (Secret Window, Fear and Loathing, Blow, Donnie Brasco, Once Upon a Time in Mexico) but that's just my opinion. He has a very minor role in Platoon though. Fear and Loathing in LV was entertaining but I wouldn't consider it a "Great" movie. Pirates of the Car are good movies but their for older kids. Secret Window and the others are solid but nothing Amazing. I still haven't seen him in a Legendary movie, that's all I'm saying. Blow was his best work imo. I mean Tom Cruise is half the actor as Depp but he has featured in probably 5 movies better than Depps best. |

First, Depp would never be in a movie like Minority Report or Mission Impossible. Those movies aren't his style. If you look through his movies he usually focus's on movies that are more challenging than your normal action movie. Second, movies are really all about personal opinion. I think Blow and Fear and Loathing are "great" movies, but that's just because I think they have such tremendous performances. |
