We havent brought in a truly elite big in a long time (Jefferson doesn't fit the bill). But to say our staff doesn't develop these guys is flat out wrong. The progress that guys in recent years like the Plumlees, Zoubek, and Lance Thomas made over their years in Durham is pretty great

Jefferson is arguably a more talented player than Lance Thomas, and Lance is in the NBA. Mason Plumlee is a future first round pick. Worst case scenario, Amile has a degree from Duke University. Not a bad career decision at all.

He's not a one-and-done prospect. I'm glad he didn't give in to the lure of Kentucky. Although it would've sucked if he went to an ACC rival, I'd understand his decision to go to NC State.
