This article is an accumulation of every current Western Conference GM's all-time win/loss record and winning percentage from the start of BBS through 2040.
I will provide analysis for each GM's performances (I hope that some of you have thick skin)
After both conferences are posted, I will do a full analysis ranking GMs from 1-29 in terms of win percentage, championships and overall.
Gmgreggor – Mavs
All-Time Record: 2115-2067
All-Time Win Percentage: .506
Championships: 0
Analysis: Greg is a very average GM.
He build good teams that never reach that next level.
If he was a bit more aggressive, he could turn bronze into gold, he just needs to be persistent and less laid back.
GM Grade: C
Greeme – Nuggets
All-Time Record: 1232-1146
All-Time Win Percentage: .518
Championships: 0
Analysis: Greeme is one of the most active GMs in the league, but like Skillz was notorious for, he almost always makes one trade too many and hurts his chances of winning a title.
He likes to build winning systems like repole, but rarely stays with them.
He's like a poor man's combination of myself, repole and Skillz all rolled into one. He's smart, aggressive and active, but sometimes to a fault.
GM Grade: C+
Jordan – Bucks, Rockets
All-Time Record: 1542-1328
All-Time Win Percentage: .537
Championships: 1
Analysis: Jordan is another really solid GM. He drafts well, makes good trades and acquires guys before they explode.
He has a keen eye for talent, but he needs to work harder on maximizing those talents and getting them to mesh.
Jordan is always in the hunt and is always willing to improve his team. He sees the big picture.
GM Grade: A-
Pig – Heat x2, Grizzlies, Magic, Bobcats, Rockets, Suns
All-Time Record: 1305-1483
All-Time Win Percentage: .468
Championships: 2
Analysis: I think that it's Pig's goal to be the GM of every franchise in BBS. He's been in and out of the league, but that shouldn't negate his two early championships and the fact that he's a cerebral GM who rarely makes really lopsided trades.
GM Grade: B-
Game – T-Wolves, Warriors
All-Time Record: 915-1053
All-Time Win Percentage: .465
Championships: 0
Analysis: Often criticized for being a bad GM. Turns really good teams into really average teams.
Seldom puts the right pieces around big stars and he's had his share.
GM Grade: C-
Aar - Hornets
All-Time Record: 2003-2179
All-Time Win Percentage: .479
Championships: 5
Analysis: Makes trades way too early and should stick with certain talents.
Always looking to make moves, but as a result, often takes bad deals just for the sake of making a deal.
Realistic about his team's title chances and it's championship or bust, as can be seen by a sub-.500 career record with the second most championships among active GMs.
Lives by the sword and dies by the sword.
GM Grade: A-
MeanJoe – Spurs
All-Time Record: 357-463
All-Time Win Percentage: .435
Championships: 0
Analysis: Hasn't been in the league for long and hasn't done much with his team.
Built a middle-of-the-road team that competed and then blew it up when things didn't go right.
Makes good trades much of the time, but needs to pick a direction and stick with it.
GM Grade: C-
Atscott – Rockets, Warriors, Clippers
All-Time Record: 719-1003
All-Time Win Percentage: .418
Championships: 0
Analysis: Andrew is a below average GM who has trouble seeing the big picture, but has potential.
He always has good talent, but also always trades them after their value has peaked.
Definitely has the tools to be a good GM one day and contend, but how much longer can we wait?
GM Grade: D+
Martinez – Clippers
All-Time Record: 1656-1624
All-Time Win Percentage: .505
Championships: 0
Analysis: Marty is similar to myself in the sense that he likes to either build contenders or rebuild.
Marty has built some really good teams over the year, but none of them have taken him to the highest level.
Needs to work on his relationships with other GMs because some are turned off by his brash behavior and over the top reactions.
GM Grade: B-
Styro – Nets, Wizards, Hawks, Lakers
All-Time Record: 1223-1483
All-Time Win Percentage: .452
Championships: 0
Analysis: Styro is another lackluster GM who could stand to do more. He also runs his mouth quite a bit for someone who hasn't really done anything significant.
He often gets close to building a winner and then makes a stupid trade that negates the whole process.
Very similar to HeatFlash.
GM Grade: D+
Habes – Thunder
All-Time Record: 2159-2063
All-Time Win Percentage: .511
Championships: 1
Analysis: Habes either builds great teams or he builds treadmill teams that he soon gets frustrated with.
Has problems sticking with a rebuilding project if good talent is offered for his youth.
His track record is solid, but he certainly should have more championships under his belt.
A fun GM to have around and usually very active.
GM Grade: B+
Ashes – Wizards, Rockets, Suns
All-Time Record: 943-1107
All-Time Win Percentage: .460
Championships: 0
Analysis: Ashes doesn't make a ton of trades and when he does, he seldom loses them.
One issue is that he often overvalues his players and believes in them a bit too much.
He needs to fine tune his teams a bit more often to get to the next level.
GM Grade: C
DB – Blazers
All-Time Record: 2011-2171
All-Time Win Percentage: .481
Championships: 1
Analysis: DB builds too many middle-of-the-road teams that he waits to see blossom, but rarely do they follow suit.
Should try to make more trades and try to think a few moves ahead.
Solid, but unspectacular resume.
GM Grade: C+
JAH – Spurs, Jazz
All-Time Record: 1503-1449
All-Time Win Percentage: .509
Championships: 0
Analysis: The ultimate fence-riding GM.
If he drafts a player that he likes, they end up being like John Stockton and play out their career in Utah.
Needs to be far more aggressive when it comes to shopping his players. Always listens to trade and makes good ones when he likes what he sees.
Builds treadmill teams way too often.
GM Grade: C+
