1) Julius Erving SF 6'6'' 200 21 B+ B- C+ B+ C+ A
Seems like the clear-cut top overall pick.
Spencer tends to agree.
The biggest worry with Dr. J will be his huge hops and whether or not that affects both his scoring and rebounding output. How much of his ratings are inflated by his wild athleticism?
Given his superb output on both ends of the floor during his pro career, I expect that he will sim like a beast and be a top-10 player without a doubt.
There is a good amount of talent in this draft and Erving looks like the grand prize regardless of positional needs.
2) Artis Gilmore C 7'2'' 240 22 B- C- D- B+ B+ A
I expect that early in his career, Gilmore will appear to be a bust on paper - that is until he has a few TCs under his belt and his percentages begin to rise.
From the get-go, Gilmore will be a huge force defensively and on the boards.
His ratings compare favorably to Bob Lanier, the top overall pick in 2040, who boasted B C D+ A- B A ratings.
Obviously Gilmore is a step behind those ratings, but there's a possibility that he ends up being even more valuable than Lanier given his potential to have A A defense/rebounding.
3) Spencer Haywood PF 6'8'' 225 22 B+ C D B B A
Haywood could easily go 2nd overall, but I value Gilmore's size and defense over Haywood.
The one intangible that might make him an absolute beast is that his first name is Spencer.
I expect Haywood to be a 20/10 career type player and with his ratings being more of a sure thing than Gilmore's, it would not shock me to see him go off the board first.
4) Sidney Wicks PF 6'8'' 225 22 B+ C- C- C+ C+ A
Wicks looks like he'll be a solid athlete, but his ratings remind me of guys like Stromile Swift.
When the notes are released, it will be interesting to see if he can block shots or not.
Ratings wise, Wicks looks like he could be a very good player.
5) Goo Kennedy PF 6'5'' 205 22 A- C- C- B A- B
Goo has sick ratings, but I can't help be reminded of another player whose first name rhymes with his - Boo Ellis.
Kennedy's starting ratings are way better than Boo's and if he had A potential, he'd look like the next Charles Barkley, but he's undersized and that will turn off some GMs.
If Goo has decent notes, he could easily go higher than Wicks.
6) Elmore Smith C 7'0'' 250 22 C+ D D- A A- B
Can you say defensive stud?
Smith, as a rookie, will have better ratings than: Bumper Tormohlen C 33 6'8'' 248 C D+ F+ A A- D
If his notes say that he's a good shot blocker, which given his pro career, he likely will be, he could go as high as fourth overall.
7) Fred Brown SG 6'3'' 182 23 B A- B- B C B
Brown looks like the second best wing player in this draft after Dr. J and could go top-5 depending on team needs.
Brown is a plus rebounder for his size and looks to be a 15 ppg player before TC.
I expect Brown to be a highly coveted asset on draft night.
8) Austin Carr SG 6'4'' 200 23 B B+ D+ C D+ A
Austin Carr will be an awesome scorer, but the D+ rebounding and C defensive rating are sure to be huge turn-offs.
Still, Carr will be a top-10 pick and I expect him to be a stud scorer, who while he won't pass much, will be good with the ball in his hands.
9) Clifford Ray C 6'9'' 230 22 B- D+ D+ A- B+ B
This is such a stacked draft for bigs and Ray is proof.
Ray will be a monstrous rebounder and reminds me a lot of Walt Wesley, who now has B- C D+ A+ B+ B ratings.
While Ray's defense may never get to A+, if he has any potential at all, his rebounding should go to A-.
10) Dave Robisch C 6'10'' 235 21 B C C B+ B B
Robisch is another nice looking big man in the mold of Gene Moore, Neal Walk and Steve Mix who can be very well-rounded.
However, I expect him to be more like Steve Mix due to the lack of shot blocking that he had during his pro career.
11) Darnell Hillman PF 6'9'' 215 22 B C D C+ C+ A
Really a toss-up between Hillman and Stan Love, depending on whether GMs value upside over solid ratings.
Hillman and his huge fro will be tough to pass up.
I mean, how can you resist?
12) Stan Love PF 6'9'' 215 22 B- C C- B+ B- B
The aforementioned Stan Love, father of Kevin, looks like a solid prospect as well.
He'll be able to do a little bit of everything for a big man and if he has any upside, he could be a serviceable sixth man.
13) Pierre Russell SF 6'4'' 190 21 C+ B C- B+ C+ B
Russell looks incredibly well-rounded and may grade out as a poor-man's Warren Jabali.
Russell, with even a decent TC, could end up being B- B+ C A- B- B right off the bat.
Given the lack of wingman depth in this draft, Russell should go lotto.
Post-Lotto:
14) Larry Steele SG 6'5'' 180 22 B C C A+ D+ B
15) Mike Gale SG 6'4'' 185 21 B- B+ C+ B C B

17) Randy Denton C 6'10'' 240 22 B+ C D+ C B+ B
18) Charles Johnson PG 6'0'' 170 22 C+ C B A- C B

28) Dean Meminger PG 6'0'' 175 23 C A- C+ C+ C- B
29) Cliff Meely PF 6'8'' 215 24 C+ C- D+ B B- C
