14. Milwaukee Bucks (from Oklahoma City Thunder) - Hal Blevins SG 6'3'' 200 23 C+ B+ C+ B- D+ B
Since the Bucks already have one of the best teams in the league, this pick is a luxury. Broph could choose to add another good defensive big man that will produce from day 1 in Milwaukee or he could choose to add a wing like Blevins. Blevins notes make him out to be a good player who is a poor rebounder. Since the Bucks already have enough rebounding and could use an impact wing off the bench, I think Blevins should be the pick.
15. Golden State Warriors - Jim Fox C 6'10'' 220 22 C C C- A- B B
The Warriors managed to survive the contract year, but don’t have a lot to look forward to. The team was very dependent on both Tyrone Keane and Juno Tremont. Neither of these guys are likely to be 20 point scorers next season, which means another rebuild is in store for the Warriors. The Warriors can go a lot of directions with this pick, but I think take a low risk big man like Fox may be the best. The team is in need of a longterm post present besides Tom Hoover and Fox can fill that void. This is the latest you can get a player of this quality in awhile.
16. Toronto Raptors - Cincinnatus Powell C 6'7'' 225 23 B C+ C- C+ C+ B
DJ basically had the perfect ending to the season. He snuck into the eighth seed of the East, and in doing so extended his contract year as well as pushing the Nets pick, a pick he owns, into the lotto. Since I already have the Raptors drafting a big man at pick 13., it doesn’t make a lot of sense for them to draft another one at 16. However, the draft is filled with quality big men. Adding a player like Powell can never hurt. He could easily have the skill set to play center, power forward, or small forward. Also, the Raptors need to add frontcourt depth with Zelmo Beaty and Maurice Stokes expiring after next season.
17. Cleveland Cavaliers (from Atlanta Hawks) - Flynn Robinson SG 6'1'' 185 24 B- B- B- C+ D B
CC got unlucky with these next two picks. The Hawks and Pistons both were lotto picks at different points throughout the season and both ended up at a point where the draft starts to get thinner. I decided these two picks based off CC taking Bob Love #3. If that is a move he makes, then he will need to add a SG and possibly a PG. Robinson is a solid all around SG. His ratings don’t look great at this point, but his notes give promise. He could easily be a starter one day, especially on a team that already has 3 good rebounders.
18. Cleveland Cavaliers (from Detroit Pistons) - Marlbert Pradd PG 6'3'' 170 20 B- B- B- B- C B
The third and final point guard worthy of drafting in round 1 is Marlbert Pradd. He may not end up being a PG in his career, but he will at least be a nice bench PG/SG and possibly SF. He is a another player I think that is worth taking a risk on at this point in the draft.
19. Los Angeles Clippers (from San Antonio Spurs) Jesse Branson PF 6'7'' 195 23 C+ D+ D+ B A B
Marty has his choice of big men to take at this point in the draft and I think Branson makes the most sense. He is touted as possibly the best rebounder in the league as a rookie. With the addition of Rick Barry earlier, the Clippers will be a team that will likely have an outside focus, To successfully do this, the Clippers need to add some rebounding. Adding the best rebounder in the league is a great start..
20. Chicago Bulls Willie Porter PF 6'7'' 210 23 C C- D- B+ A- B
This is a classic Play type of player. Porter is a very good defender and rebounder coming into the league. He will be a great role big man that can fit in on any team. Porter is essentially a good depth guy on a good 4 year contract. Great addition for any contender.
21. Los Angeles Clippers (from Denver Nuggets) - Toby Kimball C 6'6'' 220 23 C D D+ B+ A- C
Kimball is a lot like Willie Porter, but just doesn’t sound as good to me. He will be another good front court addition for the Clippers that will at least provide front court depth in the long run.
22. Los Angeles Clippers (from Minnesota Timberwolves) - Ollie Johnson PF 6'8'' 220 23 B C- C- B- B B
This is a pick Marty may want to consider forfeiting so he doesn’t end up with too many rookie contracts of bench big men. If anyone is left, then he may take a gamble on them. Ollie Johnson is the first player I have being draft that was not given any notes. He has some of the best ratings of anyone left.
23. Miami Heat (from Indiana Pacers) - Warren Davis PF 6'6'' 215 22 B C- C B B- B
In this mock, the Heat drafted Willie Somerset with their lottery selection. Somerset provides the Heat with basically their entire starting lineup. I think there are quite a few big men worth taking a gamble on if your cap situation is in hand. The Heat have no problems there. Davis could end up being a nice bench player.
24. Utah Jazz - Warren Isaac SG 6'4'' 215 22 C B C+ B- C- B
Jah has been running an outside focus for a long time. Adding an outside shooter for cheap makes the most sense here.
25. Phoenix Suns (from Philadelphia 76ers) - Terry Kunze SG 6'4'' 210 22 C+ B C C+ D+ B
I’m sure Blue will use this pick since he isn’t in a bad cap situation. A backup type can be added for either the frontcourt or backcourt. I wouldn’t count on anyone being drafted here seeing minutes anytime soon though.
26. New Orleans Hornets (from Los Angeles Lakers) - Jim Caldwell C 6'10'' 240 22 B- C- D+ B+ B- C
Caldwell actually has notes, but is labeled as a bench player. I don’t know if I’d want a guy like this playing major minutes off my bench.
27. Houston Rockets (from New Orleans Hornets) - Warren Rustand SF 6'10'' 225 22 C+ B- C+ B- C B
Probably the best looking all around player left.
28. Milwaukee Bucks - Skip Thoren C 6'10'' 230 22 B- D+ D+ C+ B- B
Big man depth FTW
29. Chicago Bulls (from New York Knicks)- Forfeit
At this point, who really cares?
Since the Bucks already have one of the best teams in the league, this pick is a luxury.
