MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS IN BBS: PART 4 (10-1)
Same Criteria
10. Pacers Bradley Barker PG 30 6'0'' 191 B A A+ B+ D+ C
Current Stats: 26.9 Points 11.6 Assists 4.1 rebounds 1.9 steals 1.6 turnovers. Shooting 47.2% from the field 92.5% from the FT line and 44.2% from three
I honestly only put Barker this low, cause the dude has never really been on a title contender, which this late in a career is kinda ehh, if you are supposed to be a era defining player. Sure, maybe it has to do with the fact that he spent his career between Heatflash, a semi washed up insane, and Biggie, but, still, at a certain point doesn’t it become kinda more of a problem for the player as well, I mean, if GM’s cant seem to contend with you on the team are you really that great? Anyway, Barker is a sick player, with amazing outside shooting skills, excellent ball handling and sick steals.
9. Hawks Elgin Baylor SF 29 6'5'' 234 A A A- A B+ B
Current Stats: 33.8 points 10.1 rebounds 5.8 assists 2.1 steals 1.4 blocks with 1.9 turnovers. Shooting 47.1% from the field 86.2% from the charity stripe and 42.4% from 3.
Baylor is just an all around stud, he scores, rebounds, passes steals blocks and doesn’t turn it over a ton. He shoots pretty good percentages from the field too. Seriously, 33.8 10 and 5.8 is nuts though…just wow. He is only locked up for two years, and is approaching that dreaded 30 mark, though not really that dreaded. You could easily swap him with Johnny Green, no issues, Green is there because of his contract, not because he is better than Elgin.
8. Knicks Johnny Green SF 29 6'5'' 205 A+ C- C- B A B
Current Stats: 31.1 Points 9.4 Rebounds 2.3 Assists 1.5 steals .5 blocks .9 turnovers. Shooting 50.2% from the field 69.6% from the foul line and 3.1% from three.
Green may just be the most generous player in the league, seriously, he is a 31 point beast, with 9.4 rebounds, yet he offered to resign for a meager 8.7 million dollars a year over 5 years on average. It is an absurdly cheap contract for a player of his caliber. He is the best all around inside scorer in the league, he has huge athleticism, but also can score inside with the best of them, and I assume he is strong though that’s not guaranteed, but his percentages would make one think so. He never turns the ball over, rebounds amazingly well for a wing, and steals well. 50.2% FG% is tied with the worst he has ever done, which was his rookie year. He does seem to have a thing for launching threes suddenly, when you are 1-32, maybe you shouldn’t attempt any, but oh well. A true stud with an even better contract.
7. Lakers Hal Greer SG 27 6'2'' 181 A- A B A B- C
Current Stats: 30.8 Points 8.2 Rebounds 4.9 Assists 1.9 Steals .4 Blocks 2.1 Turnovers. Shooting 47.3% from the field 86.9% from the Free Throw Line and 50.2% from 3.
Greer is a crazy all around player, with amazing rebounding for a Shooting Guard, great scoring and passing, and he steals and Defends all around with that A Defense. At only 27 and locked up for a long while, Greer is just an all around high value player, he really doesn’t have a weakness, outside maybe that he does 2.1 turnovers a game but that seems pretty average for a top option SG, not terrible. He is shooting a ridiculous 50.2% from three. Really about the only thing holding him back is that Styro is his GM. Hell he isn’t even the highest player on this list from the Lakers yet they are 20-21.
6. Bulls Purnell Jackson PG 30 6'7'' 210 B+ A A A- C+ B
Current Stats: 30.1 Points 9.4 Assists 6.3 Rebounds 2.5 steals .3 Blocks 1.9 Turnovers. Shooting 44.9% from the field 94.6% from the foul line and 36.3% from three.
Purnell is arguably the greatest player in this version of BBS, and yet, he falls to number 6, as he is starting to get up there in age. His three titles are what separate him from the pack, as is his 4 time league MVP. He can score, pass, steal and take care off the ball, pretty good, but really, how does that separate him from Barker. It really doesn’t, what really sets him apart is the fact that Purnell is probably the best rebounding true Point Guard in league history. At 6’7 he has excellent height, which helps with the rebounding and he has that C+ rating for rebounding. Studly. He is just an amazing player, yet, as his age and contract climbs he will fall down this list. Honestly right now he is struggling with his percentages pretty heavily, but, I cant put him down just based on this season so far, based on the forever of amazing numbers.
5. Lakers Jerry West PG 25 6'2'' 178 B+ A A A C B
Current Stats: 30 Points 12.2 Assists 6.6 Rebounds 1.7 Steals .1 Blocks 2.1 Turnovers. Shooting 49.3% from the field, 86% from the FT line and 41.8% from three.
West is the highest true Point Guard on this list, though Oscar can play PG, and with good reason…dudes a stud, and is going to challenge Purnell for that GOAT pure PG rebounder status. He can score, is the league leader in assists, rebounds, steals, and takes care of the ball pretty well. He shoots great percentages and is locked up for 7 years on a First FA Max. I mean, Really what can you say about him other than he is a stud. Yet again, the only thing holding him back seemingly is that his GM is Styro, who also has #7 on this list yet hasn’t won shit with them. He still has time though, Greer is 27 and West 25, making for one of the scariest PG/SG combos in the league for years to come.
4. 76ers Oscar Robertson SF 25 6'5'' 205 A- A- B- A- B B
Current Stats: 35.1 Points 7.8 Assists 7.7 Rebounds 2.2 Steals 1.1 Blocks 3.2 Turnovers. Shooting 49.7% from the field 87% from the Charity Stripe and 41.2% from 3.
Oscar is the highest of the PG eligible players, and that ability to play PG is what sets him so high. He doesn’t necessarily take the greatest care of the ball, but he is such a dominant player at PG, and his rebounding makes him the best rebounding PG in the league, though I really don’t consider him a pure Point. 35 points is nothing to scoff at, but Oscar doesn’t just bring it on offense, with 2.2 steals and 1.1 blocks at PG. Add in 7.7 rebounds and 7.8 assists and you get one of the most dynamic players in the league, and he is just 25, locked up for 6 more years.
3. Rockets Jerry Lucas PF 23 6'9'' 239 A- C C A- A B
Current Stats: 25.1 Points 13.7 Rebounds 3 Assists 3.7 Blocks .7 Steals 1.3 Turnovers. Shooting 48.5% from the field
Now we get into the big men region and honestly, when I set the list, Russell was still being dominant, so Jerry’s expiring made me put him at three…but now, Jerry is being more dominant, and Bill has cooled since he has Rudy next to him, just more the fact that he has a team full of inside scorers. I will leave Lucas here, if only because that expiring contract is such a worry, but he is clearly a franchise player, an all around stud. He is one of the best rebounder in the league, an outstanding scorer, a good passer, great shot blocker, and excellent ball handler. He shoots great percentages from the field, and from the foul line he is outstanding, and…well yeah, see, this IS WHY I WANTED HIM SO BADLY. Once he signs with a team this offseason, he becomes easily the number 2 player on this list, surpassing Russell without a doubt. Though nobody can touch number 1, at least…not yet. Lucas does have something that neither player in front of him has though, a title.
2. Hornets Bill Russell C 28 6'9'' 241 A- C B- A A C
Current Stats: 23 Points 11.7 Rebounds 5.2 Assists 3.8 Blocks 1.4 Steals 2.1 Turnovers. Shooting 48.9% from the field and 78.6% from the foul line.
Honestly now Bill looks like he may not even be the best big on his own team, but oh well, the list is set, and he has some of the sickest ratings you will ever see. He scores, rebounds, passes, and defends, an all around game that makes any team happy to have him. He’s the best passing big since Tim Duncan, he can steal as well as block, and shoots pretty solid percentages. I mean, yeah, Lucas will pass him because of age, and seemingly talent, but there isn’t a GM in the league that would turn down Bill Russell, if they got a good offer….even if they were tanking…well, ok, a REASONABLE GM…or maybe the qualifier should be a good Gm.
1. Timberwolves Wilt Chamberlain C 27 7'2'' 293 A C C+ A- A+ B
Current Stats: 30.5 Points 13 Rebounds 4 Assists 3 blocks 1.2 Steals 1.6 Turnovers. Shooting 51.9% from the Field, 89.7% from the Charity Stripe and 100% from 3
SHOCK OF THE CENTURY….Cant believe who I put at number one right? Nah, Wilt is the most obvious pick since well, the year Wilt was drafted. Never has there been a big this truly amazing. He has the size, thhe amazingly efficient scoring, the ability to Block and steal, the passing, the amazing rebounding…I mean, the man is truly at least great at everything
Scoring-Elite
Rebounding-Elite
Passing-Elite (For a big)
Steals-Great (For a big)
Blocks-Great
Turnovers-Great (For a top option big)
Percentages-Elite
There is no weakness…this is what a franchise changing player is like, and he goes to the GM who really doesn’t need any help. Really though, how can you trade Wilt without feeling raped. That’s his only weakness..that you cant get rid of him without feeling like you took it up the ass, cause you are automatically giving the best player in the league up, and its doubtful any player will match that. Quantity over quality sucks
