2033 RETIRING CLASS
With a large retiring class there had to be some stand out players. The standout players are ranked and noted below.
1.
Evan Dickerson is at the top of this retiring class. A former number 1 overall selection in the 2016 draft and was a competitor for his entire career. Career averages of 21 points, nearly 12 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and all on good percentages & low turnovers. This 12 time Player of the Week recorded a double-double in nearly 70% of the games he participated in. This highly regarded center had a career high in points of 48, rebounds of 25, and blocks of 14. Evan finished with 2 championships and the most out of this retiring class.
Notable Awards: 3x All-League First Team, 3x All-Defensive Team, & 3x DPOY
2.
Rickey Francis was all about lighting up the scoreboard. He was not very well rounded but the scoring he gave his team made up for his shortfalls. Francis had a career high in points of 69 points and did manage to win a ring towards the end of his career. Rickey finished averaging 27.5 PPG on nearly 50% shooting.
Notable Awards: Surprisingly None
3.
Ramsey was selected 4th overall in the 2019 draft. Antonio played the better years of his career in Philadelphia but failed to win a title throughout his playing days. Antonio was an ideal SF in that he scored at a high clip, rebounded very well, contributed on the defensive end, and had manageable turn overs. Ramsey racked up double-doubles in 44% of his games and had career highs in points of 59 and rebounds of 27.
Notable Awards: All-League First Team
4.
Christian Gola entered the league as a late 1st round draft pick by the Washington Wizards. Gola played his best years with the Rockets in the middle of his career. At nearly 7 feet tall and close to 300 pounds he is a large man to defend. Christian narrowly broke the 20 PPG mark for his career average while grabbing 9 rebounds per game and adding his decent shot blocking. Gola was a great FT shooter for his stature. When he hit the floor he registered a double-double 42% of the time and he also contributed on a championship winning team. Gola finished with career highs in points of 50 and rebounds of 21.
Notable Awards: All-Rookie Team
5.
Ben Rollins was another big time scorer. Finishing his stint in BBS with a career scoring average of nearly 29 PPG, while adding close to 7 rebounds and some steals. Rollins never played a back up role on any of the teams he played for and never had a significant injury. Rollins had am impressive career high in points of 65. Unfortunately Rollins never got that ring that he was desperately playing for.
Notable Awards: Rookie of the Year, All-Rookie Team, & 5x All-League First Team
6.
Jonas was a very good big man and every team he played for. He started his career as the 3rd pick in the 2013 draft to the Clippers. Jonas made an immediate impact on the team in regard to rebounds and points. His career average for points is a respectable 22 and his rebounding was above average at 11 per game. Jonas was not much of a stats defender but contributed with close to 1 steal per game. Jonas posted career highs of: 67 points & 29 rebounds. Jonas did achieve the ultimate goal in winning a championship. Jonas amassed 965 double-doubles which is 61% of his games.
Notable Awards: Rookie of the Year & All-Rookie Team
7.
Earl Dawson a mid lotto selection and impressed as a PG but not until after his rookie contract expired. The Rockets had faith though and he resigned to nearly average a double-double for the remained of his career. Dawson was a stud defender in terms of steals finishing with 2.2 steals per game is crazy. Earl had low turnovers and a decent assist rate. Dawson recorded 479 double-doubles, 22 Triple-Doubles, and was named POW 12 times. Career highs: 49 points, 20 assists, & 9 steals.
Notable Awards: 2x All-Defensive Team
8.
Graham played all but 3 years of his career with the Raptors and I understand why they did not trade him. LaDaniel had 412 double-doubles and a retiring class best 42 triple-doubles. Graham was selected with the 15th overall selection of the 2016 draft and he was quite a surprise I am sure. Averaging 18 points, 7 assists, and nearly 6 rebounds for his career is great. His biggest downfall was easily his turnovers. Graham had career highs of 49 points and 22 assists.
Notable Awards: All-Rookie Team
9.
Rick liked to do what he did best and that was scoring and rebounding. This talented center finished his career with averages of 17 points and 9 rebounds. Not much of his game is notable besides his low turnovers and good FG%. Moore recorded a double-double in 42% of the games he played. Rick saw career highs of 55 points and 22 rebounds.
Notable Awards: None
10.
Allen Avery was selected in the 2016 draft by the Nets as the 16th overall selection. Avery had a slow transition into BBS from college. Allen hit a groove in his fourth season in NJ where his PPG saw a major increase. His career averages are somewhat tainted due to a slow start and not seeing playing time in his final 5 years in the league. For many season in a row Avery put up 28-30 PPG but finished with a career average of just under 20. His steals and low turnovers were a nice addition. Avery had career highs in points of 63 and steals of 8.
Notable Awards: All-League First Team
