Eh can't really say Id recommend any hotels, but why just the weekend? Montreal is a place you go to for a least a week. Get a house rental and your in for a good time.

Don't worry about the hotel in Montreal, worry about the area.
For clubbing, anywhere along Ste Catharines is good especially either Crescent or St Laurent
St Laurent is more cafes, restaurants, etc. Crescent is more clubs and shopping
Make sure that you go to Schwartz's Deli or your trip is incomplete. Best sandwiches on earth.

I'm just going to see a film I made in this film festival and it is a weekend thing. I can't really stay longer than a day or two. You don't know of any good ones?

Nice. Yeah Id co sign St Laurent, Ive stayed there before. Right next to the metro and nice place to walk around and what not. Bars/Clubs/Lounges are everywhere, you can literally walk down the street and hit up a few of them. www.foufounes.qc.ca/about/ Was pretty damn good. I remember the first time I was in Montreal, me and my friends were walking the streets and we kept seeing people with jump suits. They all had funny names/teams etc. So we finally asked what the hell they were for and they turned out to be puke suits, for the end of the night. They ended up going to Club Orchid which was pretty damn good as well. Honestly don't see how you can have a bad time around this area.
