1. Minnesota Timberwolves- A.J. Perkins SF 6'9'' 207 20 B+ B D+ C+ C+ A
I may be in the minority here, but when you have the opportunity to take a guy who can score 30+ppg you do it. Because of Perkins known flaw, it is difficult to not see him being an elite scorer in this league whereas the other six potential #1 prospects could be busts. Perkins would give the Timberwolves two legit #1 option type of scorers along with Mitchell Jordan. Perkins turnovers should benefit from not having to be the #1 in Minnesota.
2. Dallas Mavericks- Douglas Washington SG 6'7'' 210 20 B B C+ C+ C A
After the first pick, it is a matter of preference on the other six prospects. Washington is the second best all around player in my opinion. He should be a very good scorer in this league. The Mavericks will go with Washington for two reasons. First, they already have their future frontline built with Kanter, Christmas, and Wesley. Washington could be the future number one option for that core. Second, there isn’t a PG worthy of this pick to fill Dallas’ biggest need.
3. Atlanta Hawks- Marvin McCleod SF 6'7'' 230 20 B+ C+ C- B- C A
The Hawks have a very good young core already in place. This will allow them to take the prospect they feel is the best of the remaining. Since none of the big men are listed as shot blockers, I do not think any will be the best on the board. McCleod has great notes and I think has the potential to be the best all around guy out of this draft. He also plays Sf which may be Atlanta's biggest need.
4. Los Angeles Lakers- Antonio Ramsey PF 6'9'' 259 22 A- C C C+ C+ A
If the Lakers can manage to get Ramsey, they have a scary future. Michael Gilchrist and Austin Rivers both seem to be #1 options and Ramsey has the opportunity to be another one. Since the Lakers do not need more scoring, Ramsey might not be the smartest pick. However, if you have the opportunity to take a future 20ppg big man you do it!
5. Orlando Magic- Juno Tremont PF 6'9'' 215 19 B C- C B C+ A
This pick will definitely be a big man unless all three have been selected by this point. Manas loves his bigs. Tremont and Reinhart are a class below Ramsey in my opinion. Reinhart might be the better selection here but Tremont’s notes at least give him a chance at being a shotblocker. This makes the difference to me. The Magic need to add a big man to their current core. I’m not sure if any of their current players are future franchise guys but they all at least have a role. Tremont fits in with all of the other young guys and is another good defender which is something Orlando is accumulating.
6. Miami Heat- Austin Campbell SG 6'5'' 206 22 C+ B C+ B D A
Campbell sounds like he is going to be a very good player to me. He slips to pick six because so many GMs do not want to have a starter at SG with D rebounding. I think this rating should be overlooked because Campbell would probably be third or fourth on my board. He sounds like he is going to be great if you don’t expect him to board. The Heat already have two nice young big men so adding a wing is perfect.
7. Golden State Warriors- Franz Reinhart C 7'0'' 231 19 B- B C C+ B- A
I have a feeling Reinhart is going to go top 3 or 4, but I would not take him there. I don’t see him ever being a true big man on the defensive end, which is something I value highly. Also, already having a B in outside is not a big deal to me at all. I can only remember two or three big men with good outside shots that were dominant. If Reinhart turns out to be one, he is worthy of the #1 pick. I just don't think he will be. The Warriors will be thrilled to get a big man and probably thrilled to get Reinhart. I’m sure he will go earlier but this is my mock and I’m not a huge fan.
8. Miami Heat (from New York Knicks)- Bob Carl PG 6'3'' 190 21 C+ C+ A- C+ C- A
Pig created Bob Carl and has hinted that he wants to draft him. I think Carl is a reach here, but I believe Pig will take him anywhere after the top 7. He also fills a need for the Heat.
9. New Orleans Hornets- Randall Connolly SG 6'5'' 200 22 B C B- B- C+ A
Aar seems to be set on trying to run an inside offense for the time being. I think he would have been much better off had he stuck with Christmas and some of his other guys, but there is no point in discussing that now. Conolly is probably the eighth best prospect in the draft and fits right into the Hornets inside offense.
10. Houston Rockets (from Washington Wizards)- Patrick Stevens PF 6'9'' 235 20 C+ C+ C- B+ B- A
I created Stevens so I probably like him more than other GMs. I need to keep adding big men since I could be losing Miller and Camby in the offseason. I’m not sure if Stevens will ever be a starter. He should be versatile enough to play multiple positions though. He could be a similar player to Anthony Randolph but just not nearly as productive on the defensive end.
11. Detroit Pistons- T.J. Walker PF 6'11'' 200 21 C C+ B B B+ B
This pick will likely get traded to a team rebuilding (Bulls?). However for this mocks purposes, I am picking for the Pistons. The Pistons need a big man with this pick but there aren’t any really worthy at this point. . Walker is an intriguing player that will remind people of Julysses Hall except with a jumpshot. He could be a great role player from day 1.
12. New York Knicks (from Charlotte Bobcats)- Timothy Rouser SF 6'9'' 232 21 C+ B+ C+ C+ C+ A
The Knicks are in rebuild mode. I’m not a fan of any of their guys at this point so I’m giving them the best player available in my opinion. Rouster could be a guy who can do it all and potentially play SG or PF if he develops correctly. Plus look at Rouser’s ratings! Can you imagine what he will be like with 3 RCs and ACs? Skillz can!
13. Indiana Pacers (from Los Angeles Clippers)- Assaf Schayes SF 6'8'' 210 22 B- B B B B- C
Schayes stock will fall because of his C potential. If I was in need of an all around role guy like the Pacers are, I wouldn’t let that stop me from taking him. Should Schayes have any potential at all, he will be a very nice player. He should be very productive from day one. Nevertheless, the Pacers fill one of their biggest needs with this pick.
