1. Washington Wizards
Vince McCracken SG 6'5'' 203 20 B+ C+ C C+ C A
Washington will be in their contract year, so they will need some immediate help. There's a good chance that they won't end up with this pick themselves. But for the purposes of the mock draft, we'll have to assume they end up picking and need to take one of the most ready players. McCracken is probably the most ready player in the draft and should be able to step in and score immediately for the Wiz.
2. Denver Nuggets
Stephen Flint PF 6'11'' 229 22 B D D B+ C+ A
With this being Denver's first rebuilding season, drafting Flint would be ideal for them. Since he's not allowed to play for two seasons, it will only aid their tanking effort for each of that timeframe. If he progresses as expected in TC, he should end up being what every team wants out of a PF; that is, an inside scorer, shotblocker, and rebounder.
3. Utah Jazz
Marquell Rodgers PF 6'10'' 245 18 B- C- B- B- C+ A
Whoever drafts #3 will likely take the remaining of the top three guys. Rodgers won't be able to make big contributions right away, but his youth and potential combination could make him into a star at a fairly young age if a GM has the patience to stick with him.
4. Detroit Pistons
Tyrone Keane PF 7'0'' 245 19 C B C B C+ A
Detroit already has a good young nucleus with Derrick, Jordan, Harris, and Wang. They can afford to take the best player available here. Keane looks like he could be a great outside scorer who can block and rebound. With his outside scoring and handles, he may be able to play some SF as well. Keane gives Detroit another valuable asset and also a lot of flexibility down the road.
5. Los Angeles Clippers
Alex Jackson PG 6'5'' 208 21 B+ C B C+ C A
The Clippers go with one of the most ready draft prospects in the draft. Jackson should be able to produce from Day 1and will be a big help since LA does not have their pick next year. The Clippers will look to move Jackson to SG where his TO issues could be minimized for the time being.
6. Indiana Pacers
Akai Johnson SF 6'8'' 220 20 B+ C C- B- C+ A
This team is already loaded with youth throughout the roster, so Indiana can afford to roll with one of the most athletic players in this year's draft. Johnson could give this team a ton of energy off the bench and create turnovers. While he may not be a great outsider scorer, he would fit in perfectly from the start with his athleticism and defensive playmaking skills.
7. Dallas Mavericks
Bobby Burns PG 6'2'' 195 21 C+ B- B B- C A
Dallas mostly needs a PG right here, and Burns is the best one left. He should develop into a well-rounded PG and would complement the rest of Dallas' youth plenty well. Burns looks to be a safe pick here.
8. San Antonio Spurs
Ryan Edison SF 6'9'' 231 23 B- B+ B- C B- B
San Antonio has a lot of young pieces to go along with their two veteran PGs in Collison and Rondo. While they could go after a PG to bring up behind those two, the PG stock is rather low at this point in the draft. Instead, they take a guy who can be a scorer at multiple positions. Edison should give them a nice lift primarily as a bench player early in his career. His lack of defense may push him to the bench, but his scoring ability and rebounding at possibly SG, SF, and PF should give him enough minutes to be effective.
9. Minnesota Timberwolves
Kent Caldwell C 7'8'' 274 20 C- D- C+ B B A
Minnesota needs some inside defense to go along with the offensive prowess of Wall, Ellis, and Barton. Caldwell's size should fit in perfectly with what Minnesota needs. He won't be asked to do too much on the offensive end other than grab some offensive boards or make some passes out of the post. He should be able to excel in both of those areas offensively and will help out their team defense immensely.
10. Orlando Magic
Rick Moore PF 6'11'' 245 21 B C C+ B B B
Orlando is in a good situation right now. With Reynolds, Selby, Richmond, and Jefferson, they don't have many holes on this team. They can afford to take a guy who will give them a little bit of everything. Moore is going to be that glue guy inside that will probably be able to average close to a double double consistently. Moore would fit in perfectly with the Magic's team right now.
11. Denver Nuggets (from Charlotte Bobcats)
Arnez Tuttle SG 6'8'' 225 20 C+ C+ C C+ C+ A
Tuttle is obviously going to be a project, but his size and athleticism may very well make him to be a better SF than SG in the league. Denver has three picks next year, so they can afford to take a little bit of a gamble on a high risk, high reward project like Tuttle. He could very well turn into a well rounded, very athletic SF and that would be right up Denver's alley.
12. Cleveland Cavaliers
Andryunas Raskauskas C 7'2'' 275 21 B C+ C C+ C+ B
Cleveland really needs a big man in the draft, and both Raskauskas and Larry Davidson could fit that bill at this draft position. Either would work out well for them, but Raskauskas gives them more size and more offensive versatility. Cleveland could very well decide to go with Davidson's shotblocking here though.
13. New Jersey Nets
Larry Davidson C 6'11'' 239 20 C+ C D A- B B
Much like Cleveland with the last pick, the Nets need some size to go along with their scoring threats from the outside. Davidson gives them another shotblocker and rebounder to bring off the bench behind the combo of Sean Williams and Marty.
I found it hard to believe that I couldn't find a home for some guys like Devereaux or Daniels in the lotto. Some of the teams in the mid teens will come home very happy with the quality of picks they should be getting.
