16. Toronto Raptors 22-24: The Raptors are a weird team. They haven’t been relevant in quite some time but seem to make the playoffs every year. I look at their roster and feel like those guys have been there for the past 10 seasons. Not much to say about this team other than Dwade and White still doing their thangs. DJ should just rebuild this mofo.
15. Houston Rockets 23-24: The Rockets are a good group of players that still are looking for the right DC. This team has the right mix of youth and vets that make their future very bright. With Jennings, Rivers and Burks in the backcourt and Ibaka, Oden, Norel up front Im surprised their record is not better. They also have some good prospects in Miller and Holman. Look out for the rockets in the coming seasons.
14. Dallas Mavericks 26-26: The start of the season Greg was trying to win. Then his team did poorly and he decided to rebuild. Now Greg is trying to win again and rightfully so. This year he should just push off his CY one more and make the playoffs why not. He has all of his picks and he will gut the roster in the off-season when he lets all these guys walk. The team needs major overhaul but if you can make the playoffs this year, do it.
13. New Orleans Hornets 24-24: The hornets have a good squad, definitely enough to make the playoffs but they’re not there yet from be a real threat to contend. They have Kemba Walker who is one of the top point guards in the league along with Gordon Hayward who is one of the best offensive forwards in he game, his shooting percentages are incredible. Their front court is young probably the reason why they are not elite, yet. Give them a couple more TC’s and this team will be a top team out west.
12. Orlando Magic 25-21: The magic made a big splash this off-season and got Marc Gasol and Al Jefferson in a old fashion fleece. Still with the addition of those two and Selby and Reynolds already on the roster it is only allowed them to be 4 games over .500. Nothing to sneeze at compared to this team last year but they still need to make some more moves to be legit.
11. Minnesota Timberwolves 26-20: The Twolves started off the year not winning 1 game till the second sim, quite amazing when you see they’re 6 games over .500. This team has had some ups and downs but is a good squad lead by John Wall and Monta Ellis. These two guys along with Horford put this team into contention in the west. They’re not good enough to be a championship threat but they will make the playoffs every year.
10. Boston Celtics 27-18: The Celtics have one of the best front courts in the league. Brook Lopez and Eddy Curry are straight animals and tear up this league. These two alone make you a legit team anywhere. Sadly for the Celtics the rest of their roster does not play at such a high level like those guys or they would be a championship team.
9. Denver Nuggets 28-21: The nuggets were one of the worst teams in the league last year, now they’re a top 4 team in the west. What did they do? They added Gerald Wallace who will make any team legit. With Amir Johnson and Knight as well on this roster the nuggets are making some noise in the west. As long as Gwall is around this team will be nice for a season or two more. Sadly Gwall is 34 years old and is on the decline if not he will be soon.
8. Miami Heat 30-20. Pig was trying to retool this past off-season but did not find a reasonable deal to make for Bron. That is understandable since it is hard to find a team looking to make a deal for such a player while giving up all of their youth. Pig team has three stars on it just like the modern day heat today. Between Bron, Howard and Durant this team is filthy and will definitely make some noise in the playoffs. Their depth will hurt them in the end but if last year was a sign of anything the heat can make a run in the playoffs.
7. Los Angeles Lakers 29-21: The Lakers have taken a hit the past few sims losing a good chunk of games. Their depth is the biggest problem for them. They were 10 million plus over the hard cap this off-season and had to get rid of a lot of players. They could do very little in FA. The good thing for the Lakers is they have 4 stars in their starting line up; the bad thing is the rest of their roster is full of d league scrubs.
6. New York Knicks 27-17: The Knicks are a team that I liked coming into this season but have not gotten off to a great start. They still are 10 games above .500 and have made some moves recently to improve their roster. The Knicks are also a fairly young team that also will have plenty of years to compete if they are still together. I really like this squad a lot and think they will make some noise come playoff time. Richmond was a good addition this past week or so I think he will make a big impact in the future.
5. Philadelphia Sixers 30-19: The sixers all of a sudden have shot up the rankings and are a top team out East. Lumley has done a nice job of assembling talent and drafting well. Sean O’mara looks like the future of the league, he reminds me of a young Shaq. Along with O’mara, Kanter and Derrick Rose make good players to surround this team with that have them making some noise out east. I don’t think the sixers will do much in the playoffs, but they do have a nasty tandem up front.
4. Charlotte Bobcats 31-13: Now we’re getting into the legit contenders. The Bobcats start us off here having some great success in the playoffs the last 3 to 4 years. This team has everything you want in championship contender. Their defense is one of the best in the league with Randolph and McGee up front. Anthony Randolph has been a surprise this league and is one of the best defenders in the game. He is a big part to their success. This team will always be scary come playoff time, I think they have another championship run or two in them for sure.
3. Phoenix Suns 34-16: Mark’s team has been nasty for like 10 years it seems. This group is always dominating the west. Deron Williams has had one of the best careers in this league and is not showing any signs of slowing down. Mark has mixed his star power with the right depth that has pushed this team to the top 3. Adding Gallo was huge. With Udoh, Favors, and Williams up front they’re one of the best shot blocking teams in the league. Look for the Suns to Challenge the grizzlies in the championship.
2. Chicago Bulls 33-13: Play has assembled the best team in the East this year. Perry Jones leads this cast of Travis Leslie, Holiday and Melo. The scary thing about this team is they’re all so young. Play’s starting line up has got to be the youngest in the league if not top 3. They’re young and nasty which means they will be a top team for many years to come. Looks for the Bulls to challenge the playoff tested Bobcats this year and on.
1. Memphis Grizzlies 40-9. Insane has made a nasty team. The Grizzlies won the ship last year and are favorites to do it again. How can you really stop this team? Between Curry, Barnes and Cousins, you would think that is all they have and it would be enough to be nasty but no. They also have Meka, Noah and Mckie along with more depth to make this team the best in the league. Who can stop the grizzlies this season? Who the hell knows, but good luck to anyone facing them.
