2015 Lottery Grades
The consensus: This class will be known as one of, if not the best, ever. Why? because Spence is the man. Oh, and he probably wants the East to make things more competitive. Use your heads!
Also, Wiggins will be known as the bust of the class when it is all said and done, considering who is behind him.
1. Toronto- C
Andrew Wiggins C 7'0'' 255 20 B D+ D+ B+ C+ A
Andrew Wiggins C 20 7'0'' 255 B D+ D+ A- B- B
Tough luck for DJ, as it looks like Wiggins is at least not the stud we thought he was. While all is not lost for the big man--and I am sure he will be a good player--it is very disconcerting to see someone so highly touted drop in potential during his first TC. Yes, the defense and rebounding increases are nice, but Wiggins looks like a late lotto pick with his current ratings. It should be interesting to see how he sims. This really is unfortunate for DJ though, as the notes clearly project Wiggins as the number one pick, and DJ could not have done much about it.
2. Philadelphia- B
Sean O'Mara C 7'1'' 305 19 B+ C- D C+ B- A
Sean O'Mara C 19 7'1'' 305 B C- D+ B A- B
O'Mara had a big TC, but the drop in potential is once again a concern. I traded down because I was not extremely confident on O'Mara, and while this was a nice first TC, Sean doesn't look like your typical top 2 selection. Still, he did go up 4 grades and with his height and game, he should be an all-star. The loss in potential and drop in inside is worrisome, though.
3. Indiana- C+
Landry Fields SF 6'7'' 210 27 B+ C+ C B+ B B
Landry Fields SF 27 6'7'' 210 B+ B C+ A- B C
Nice little +5 from my boy Landry "acqua" Fields right here. He deserves it, great guy. Anyway, it's clear that Spencer loaded Landry with some potential to see if he can improve at age 27. He did, and with RC's, Fields should be an equal or better version of Boris Diaw. Still think Mops should have gone with a big man, but Fields TC does not lie.
4. Memphis- B-
DeMarcus Cousins PF 6'11'' 260 24 B+ C- C- B- B+ A
DeMarcus Cousins PF 24 6'11'' 260 A- C- C- B- A- B
Cousins was the obvious pick at the time, I just have a feeling he is going to sim horribly with his TO's and lack of defense. I don't know, I guess I was just against him from the beginning, so I'm letting my bias come out here. For the Grizzlies, though, the picks makes sense as Memphis seems to be attempting a quick rebuild. If Cousins is as good as his ratings indicate, this is a great pick. If he doesn't--and I don't think he will--Memphis will regret not picking Drummond.
5. New Orleans-A+
Andre Drummond PF 6'10'' 251 20 C+ D D B- B A
Andre Drummond PF 20 6'10'' 251 B D C- A- A- A
Great pick by aar and great trade by Play. This might be the best TC I've ever seen. + 9? I didn't know that was possible. Drummond's notes didn't lie and Spence must have finally figured out how to give someone higher than 100 potential. Can you say superstar? Play always ends up with these guys, it's ridiculous.
6. Boston - B
Dwight Stone PF 6'8'' 225 21 C+ D+ D+ B+ B+ A
Dwight Stone PF 21 6'8'' 225 B- D+ C- A- A- B
Good, solid pick here. I think everyone knew what Stone would be, so Jeff got what he expected. He'll be a starter for 10-15 years, never be an all-star, but should be a nice addition to his rebuilding team. Ideally you want a game changer at # 6, but Stone is a lot better than most lottery picks ever turn out to be anyway.
7. New York- B+
Dan Davis SG 6'6'' 214 20 B- C+ C B C A
Dan Davis SG 20 6'6'' 214 B B- B- A- C B
(Welcome to New York my friend! YEEEE) Sorry. Yea, good pick by me. Davis' notes looked very promising, and he lived up to them with a great first TC. Davis already has starter ratings, and should only get better from here. He has no holes in his games, so he's one of those players who you can just RC his inside/mid range/3 pt shot and he will be a stud. I'm putting the over/under of MVP's at 4.
8. Utah - D
Seth Curry PG 6'3'' 180 25 B- B+ B- C D+ A
Seth Curry SG 25 6'3'' 180 B- B+ B+ C+ D+ C
Okay, he went up in TC, but he's a bust. You don't go from A to C potential in one TC unless you're a bust. Sorry Don! Should have read the notes....they sucked! Spence basically commented on Curry's lack of upside in one of the posts. Poor job, poor job.
9. Houston- A
Ryan Miller C 6'11'' 250 19 B- C C B- C+ A
Ryan Miller C 19 6'11'' 250 B- C B- A- B B
Someone else who read the notes! Miller looks to have great upside, and already has awesome ratings. With his age, skill-set, and RC/AC potential, there is no reason why Miller can't be an all-star. If you compare him to Wiggins right now, it's not even close. LOL @ DJ.
10. Houston- B+
Dmitri Morozov SF 6'11'' 225 19 C+ B- C B+ C+ B
Dmitri Morozov SF 19 6'11'' 225 C+ B- C- A- C+ B
At just 19, Morozov should be pretty good. I don't think he has much upside, but Spence said that he should get a ton of blocks and steals, so he could be a great simmer. I'm thinking Delvon Roe of the last BBS? Not quite sure, but I think it is pretty clear that Spence wanted Morozov to be a unique player I like what Jordan did with his picks.
11. Atlanta- C
James Blackmon Jr. SG 6'4'' 190 19 B- C+ B- C C- A
James Blackmon Jr. SG 19 6'4'' 190 B B- B- C C- B
Eh. He did some things but still looks kinda shitty. Considering the amount of talent in the lotto and the other TC's, I doubt Blacmon has huge potential. He's probably an 80 potential guy who sucked in the first place, which means his ceiling is a 4th-5th starter type. Still, this isn't a hopeless pick by Styro, who has not gotten much luck in the lottery recently.
12. Golden State- B+
Alec Harper C 7'0'' 252 22 B+ C- D B C+ B
Alec Harper C 22 7'0'' 252 B+ C- C- A- C+ B
This was a nice TC from Harper, and a much needed one for Game. I guess Game is only really marked down because of what else was in the lotto, but this is definitely a huge addition for the Warriors. Harper should be able to start right away and could be a 20/10 guy with attention. I don't know if he was meant to be this good, but it was certainly a nice surprise for the Warriors that Harper has some upside in him.
13. New York - A
Kuran Iverson SF 6'9'' 220 20 C+ C+ B C+ B A
Kuran Iverson SF 20 6'9'' 220 B- B B C+ B+ B
I like to think of Iverson has a poor mans Lebron. Sounds about right. I can think that right? Right!? Anyways, + 4, and any potential with his initial skill set is just awesome. Iverson will have better than B's across the board when it is all said and done, and to get someone who will be able to contribute for an entire career with the 13th pick is awesome. The man doesn't have any flaws in his game. Could be a future 6Moy!
