1. Why do you call yourself "styro"? Where did that name come from?
Idk, when i was like 13 and i signed up for my first email account it sounded kind of cool so i went on to use it for everything. I've tried to move away from it by changing my sn to losanglife but that will never catch on, so i guess i'll always be known as styro. I used to play spyro the dragon a lot on ps1, all i did was change a letter and there it was lol.
2. Lakers were eliminated in 5 games by Golden State last season... explain to us what went wrong? Did you feel Golden State was the better team?
Yea, they were the better team i guess. Idk, seems like a yearly thing for me. It's not just a playoff thing but a second half team. I started out the season like 30-11 and ended up like w/ the 4th best record in the league. I went like 21 and 20 in the second half, which is a pretty big dropofff. I'd like to see my first half/second half splits and see how horrible my second halves are. It seems like every year, my team drops off and does significantly mediocre in the second half no matter how good my team might be. I guess i need to to a lot better job of tinkering w/ dc's so i can play matchups better.
3. What is your plan for this season and in the future?
My plan for the next five seasons is to improve and compete. I still feel like some work needs to be done, but my two best players are still young so i feel like my window is considerably big. I've tried to rebuild so many teams over the last 2-3 seasons but the trade market is bad. I rather just wait it out and keep these guys for the primes of their career than sell these guys off for cheap just to give myself a chance to rebuild. When people and come to me asking for Money and label guys as untouchable, i don't know how they expect to get trades done with me so I've decided to just keep this core for the next 4-5 seasons. I'll rebuild right after that.
4. Discuss your teams strengths and weaknesses.
My teams strengths is probably the offense, as usual. My guards form arguably the best backcourt in the league. Westphal and Money should continue their near 30 ppg performances this season. I feel like my only weakness this season will probably be on the defensive end with some of the defensive stats. My blocks per game might be lower than last season and might be middle of the pack in general. I feel like i'm a 3bpg backup big away from being legit, but those are hard to come by. I want to improve just my big depth in general.
5. You traded for frontcourt upgrades in Kermit Washington and Bill Robinzine... do you feel like they address your biggest needs? Why do you feel they could improve your team? (Spencer mentioned before Kermit was overated and Bill obviously has turnover issues) Are you worried about these guys?
My biggest weakness last season was just lack of any formidable center whatsoever. I don't feel like i traded much for Kermit, so whether he's overrated or not doesn't really bother me. It was a gap i needed to fill and at the very least, Kermit is above average. Now Robinzine scares me some. I completely overlooked his turnovers when negotiating the trade. I looked at his players page and saw like 1.7 topg and 1.4 topg and i figured, no way did he go from that to like 2.6 topg. In those low turnover years i forgot to look at his mpg so idk how he's going to perform with his turnovers. Hopefully it was just a dc thing, but i'm very concerned on how Bill will fit in.
6. You and HF went back and forth recently in a trade thread... do you think he did was messed up? Do you feel like he back stabbed you after all the things you did for him? No longer BFF's after that drama?
LOL. What he did was scandalous. It's not like i was asking him to take on this two year contract. Lou Hudson was making only like 2M more than Westphal i believe and was expiring. Considering i've done post pads for dude when he had no way to do them himself, i guess a favor that required a minor inconvenience was not realistic for me to ask. It was after all the good fa's had been taken so it's not like he was sacrificing some big time fa by having Lou swallow his cap. I wouldn't consider it backstabbing, just whack and shady. We haven't been bff's for a while. We've talked on aim and stuff, but it hasn't been the same since he did that to me. That's why i didn't do this last post pad for him.
7. Top 5 teams? Top 5 Sleepers?
Blazers, I feel like they have the best team. They have two rare commodities in two bigs that can score efficiently.
Celtics, Magic and Dr. J was enough but then game let deebz rape for rudy t.
Magic, They don't have any stars but they have a alot of solid players already and a bunch of assets to acquire stars for.
Nuggets, Yea, they had one of the best regular season teams last season so i expect much of the same to be honest.
Lakers, I feel like i barely make the list but i can easily drop off depending on how robinzine does.
Spurs, Warriors, Suns, Heat, Cavs are my sleepers.
8. BBS Finals will feature...
Blazers vs. Celtics
Blazers just have the best team to me right now and they just dominated the playoffs. They went undefeated in preseason. Usually i don't pay attention to preseason unless it's something really abnormal and i doubt that undefeated sim is a fluke.
Celtics have Magic, Rudy T and Dr. J along with good shotblockers so i expect Magic to make his 3rd finals in 3 years. They'd have the best chance of beating the Blazers.
9. Describe the GM's in your division using one word.
Broph - nerd
Hype - ghost
CC - cheeser
Outlaws - delusional
Habes - character
Jah - irrelevant
10. Describe HeatFlash in one word.
child
11. Do you see Andy and/or DJ making their CY?
I think Andy would make it pretty easily. He probably has a 50 win team on his hands so i wouldn't be worried about him unless he gets some injuries or shits all over his dc.
I think DJ will be in trouble unless he makes trades. He has Dickey and Austin Carr and mediocre talent everywhere else. Plus, i've never been high on Dickey, I always felt he'd have the same progression as Aziz, at least offensively. Dickey used to be an efficient 20+ ppg scorer, i doubt he'll ever be that again. So idk, Raptors are probably going to need help.
12. Let's talk NBA... are the Lakers the best team in the nba after trading for Steve Nash? What other moves do you expect or hope they make during this offseason?
No, they're not the best team in the nba. If Bynum were to get his shit together and show up to play every single game, I feel we would be, but you can't rely on something that hasn't been shown so i still put OKC and Miami ahead of Lakers. To be honest, I'd be surprised if they didn't get Dwight. I wish they'd let it go already since he doesn't want to be here it seems, but they keep discussing it so I don't know that they'll give up on it anytime soon. The truth, I'd rather have a motivated Bynum than Dwight. They're both immature and with Dwight's injury he's now an injury concern as well so yea, i'll roll with Bynum.
13. Mike Trout your favorite MLB player?
He should be everyone favorite MLB player. He's the best player in the American League already and if not for McCutchen and Braun flat out beasting in the NL, he might just be the best player in the game and he's only twenty. He missed a month and still has the best WAR in the league, just an amazing all around player. I haven't loved a player this much since Ken Griffey Jr.
14. This AC will go to...
Probably Dawkins, he's the only one with an AC left. I don't know what I'll AC though, it seems like everything is either camped or he's over 85 in so that's going to be tricky. Might just have to put it into his rebounding, ugghh. I might just save it.
15. Finally, tell us something we don't know about you!
I feel like i've answered this question elsewhere, but i'll answer it agian i guess. With all the arguments i get into and the shit i saw i'm probably perceived as an angry douche, but that's not the case at all. I usually hate to get into arguments, but there's always something someone says that triggers me. I need to relax with some of my reactions sometimes.
