Love Tyler, as this is more where I think Bobby should fall, though just a bit ahead of him. Tyler blocks steals and rebounds exceedingly well for an SF, and is just a sick all around defensive player. His offense isn’t all that great though and that holds him back to being just a 20’s type player, and is the first of 3 Magic players I pick here in a very short order, scary.
Repole: #22. Robert Parish C 26 7'0'' 230 B+ C- D+ A- B+ C
Robert Parish C 82 31.8 16.7 10.4 1.2 0.8 3.5 1.0 .447 .736 .000
For a lont time it seemed like CC was overrating The Chief. It took a while for Parish to really develop into that top flight starting center he was expected to be, but now that he's reached that point, it's evident that he's a valuable piece to a team. He's like a worse version of Roundfield, but at the same time I think he has some added name value, which keeps him close to Dan on this list. He's probably about one more decent TC away from being a real difference maker on the offensive end of things as well.
Broph#23: Bill Laimbeer C 23 6'11'' 245 B- A- C- A- B+ A
Bill Laimbeer C 82 30.6 12.2 9.3 1.7 0.8 1.3 0.9 .429 .779 .479
Laimbeer falls since he cant play SF, but this is as far as I could let him slide, he isn’t scoring all that well, doesn’t block, and his inside went down in his first TC. However, he was the consensus number one pick, and did improve elsewhere in TC. His ratings are great, and well, I mean I just cant see him not going in this area, he didn’t show being completely lost on D. Probably an overvalue from a Repole and I standpoint, but, I think league wide he is gonna still have great value.
Repole: #24. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar PF 32 7'2'' 225 A- C C- A- A- D
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar PF 79 37.7 26.1 12.7 3.4 1.1 3.4 1.8 .473 .789 .000
Obviously Kareem is a better player than the majority of guys ahead of him. His contract is pretty massive though, and despite Broph doing a good job of limiting the huge increases and preventing the deal from becoming an albatross, there's still something off putting about potentially paying a 39 year old KAJ 21 million. Obviously that isn't enough to kill his value, he's certainly fetch a nice haul of players and picks even now, but at his age, with that contract, it's hard to put him much higher than this.
Broph#25: Purvis Short SF 23 6'7'' 210 B+ A- C C+ C+ A
Purvis Short SF 82 37.6 26.5 7.8 3.1 0.9 0.3 1.3 .467 .863 .388
Purvis fell to far to me, or Alex English went to high, since Alex was expiring at the time of writing this and Purvis has more upside since he started with 100 potential. Cheaper, puts up sick offensive numbers for a second year wing and doesn’t turn it over much. Outstanding rebounder, and still improving. Gotta think his worst case falls closer to that English line, so yeah, getting him at 25 is great value compared to an English.
Repole: #26. Moses Malone C 24 6'10'' 260 B+ C C A- A B
Moses Malone C 79 33.8 19.1 11.7 2.6 0.9 2.2 1.0 .461 .888 .000
Seems like Moses has been around forever, but he's still just 24. I don't know that he's panned out exactly as people expected, but he's a capable all around player and still may have some room to grow. Throw in some added name value and I think this is an appropriate spot for him, regardless of whether he's actually a great player or not. If I were the GM though, there are a number of guys below him on this list that I simply wouldn't trade for him.
Broph #27: Mark Eaton C 23 7'4'' 275 B- C- D A- B+ B
Mark Eaton C 78 35.8 11.7 10.6 1.7 0.6 4.1 0.9 .408 .742 .000
Eaton may not have the prettiest ratings, but Spencer in his notes pointed out he started with 100 post D AND Shotblocking, making him just a sick defensive big. He never turns it over, was just a rookie and improved in TC, and appears to be able to score a bit, making him possibly able to be a decent offensive player with development. But make no mistakes, he makes his living being just a sick defender with solid rebounding, and being young and cheap.
Repole: #28. Bingo Smith PF 33 6'5'' 195 B+ A C B+ B C
Bingo Smith PF 80 37.0 29.5 10.6 3.1 1.6 3.7 1.3 .482 .863 .492
The contract sucks, and he's getting old. If it weren't for that, he'd still be in the top 10, but the fact is he simply doesn't have the value he did a few seasons back. With that said, he's still one of, if not the best player in BBS, and that's not something to be taken lightly. With all the teams who are willing to trade 10 firsts into the future for a chance to contend, I don't see any reason why there wouldn't be a decent sized group of teams more than happy to take on Bingo and ride out that contract.
Broph #29: Paul Westphal SG 29 6'4'' 195 B A+ A B D+ C
Paul Westphal SG 82 38.7 30.5 5.0 4.8 2.0 0.2 1.8 .523 .935 .520
Westphal is a sick SG, amazing percentages, scores at a high rate volume wise, steals, doesn’t turn it over a ton, and did I mention the percentages. So why does he fall this far? He is an SG, and doesn’t rebound at a great level, his D is probably not all that great positionally…not to mention he was just plain given away for cap at one point, yikes. IF you want to run an outside offense, and can make up for the rebounding elsewhere, I don’t think you can go wrong with Westphal.
Repole: #30. Kermit Washington C 28 6'8'' 230 A- C- C A+ B+ C
Kermit Washington C 82 37.4 19.8 11.4 3.0 0.8 2.0 1.8 .480 .694 .000
Kermit is sort of like an older version of Moses that's a bit more productive on the offensive end. Nice ratings, quality production, but nothing inherently special about him. No team would be upset if Kermit was starting for them, but at the same time he's more the type that's going to help you a bit everywhere rather than be a difference maker in one category. At this point there's a good amount to like about him, he's rock solid, under 30, and locked up for a while.
