So this is actually 11 players because there was a duplicate number. Sorry about that.
20a. Dan Roundfield PF 25 6'8'' 205 A- C D+ A- A- B
*Apparently based on everyone's reactions I've massively overrated Dan. Apologies in advance* The 42% shooting is a bit hard to get over, but when you factor in how often he goes to the line (and converts from there) he's actually not that inefficient scoring the ball. Awesome shot blocking, great rebounding, and though the turnovers are a bit high they aren't unbarable. If that FG% was even a few points higher he'd be elite. As for now he's a worse version of Tree Rollins.
20b. Larry Kenon PF 25 6'9'' 205 A- B+ C- B+ B B
Kenon finally broke out last year, putting up 24 and 8 on great percentages. The turnovers are average, and he's not a plus stats defender, but his skillset on the whole is similar to a young Issel. You could certainly argue him over guys like Dantley, Tree, or King; I won't stop you, but I think around the league those three would hold a bit more value just based off the perception that Kenon is done developing.
19. Bernard King SF 21 6'7'' 205 A- B- D+ C+ B- A
It was a bit hard to decide where to place King amongst guys like Sonny Parker and Mike Mitchell. King seems to have more upside than both, but he hasn't improved quite as much as I might have hoped for his first two TCs. Still I think he has big upside, and should turn into a terrific scorer who can rebound as well.
18. Kermit Washington C 27 6'8'' 230 A- C- C A+ A- C
Kermit does it all, solid offensive player, defensive anchor, quality rebounder. He is what he is though, and nothing really sticks out at you as truly special. Don't get me wrong, he's a hell of a player, just not sure he's quite as good as his ratings make him appear.
17. Alex English SF 24 6'7'' 190 A- A- C C+ C+ A
English has proven a bit more than Dantley, but he's older and didn't have much movement this past TC. English is an excellent scorer, quality rebounder, and his stats defense is decent as well. He could end up better than Gervin with a bit of luck, his future is entirely in the hands of the TC gods.
16. Marvin Barnes PF 26 6'8'' 210 A- C C- A- A- B
Tucked away in Washington, Barnes doesn't get a ton of notice, but he's one of the league's more intriguing players. Last year he shot 47%, scored 25 a game, grabbed 11 boards, and blocked 4 shots. Those are pretty incredible numbers, with the slight caveat that a bit of a turnover problem popped up last season. Still, there's so much to like about his game that overlooking the turnovers is pretty easy to do. I'd love to see what he could fetch in a trade, because I'm really not sure how much the rest of the league values him. He's essentially Dickey with some turnover issues.
15. Adrian Dantley SG 22 6'5'' 208 A- B+ D+ B B- B
He's still probably one TC away from being all the way there, but as is he's a pretty damned good scorer who rebounds well for a SG. If preseason is any indicatoin, Dantley is finally on his way to breaking through. Pretty much everything said about English applies to Dantley, but Dantle's a few years younger and hasn't produced quite as much, yet.
14. Moses Malone C 23 6'10'' 260 B+ C C A- A+ B
The scoring hasn't really broken through yet, which makes me feel like I'm ranking him too highly here, but the rebounding is dominant, and the steals+blocks combinatin is pretty solid. I think there's still this idea that he's on the verge of being an elite big man, and thus he's as high as he is, but he's a few more mediocre TCs from basically being Bill Walton.
13. Gus Williams PG 25 6'2'' 175 A- C+ A A C- B
Gus has a lot of similarities with a young Purnell Jackson, albeit without the elite rebounding, which I'm sure Play is thrilled with. He scores the ball well, but his efficiency is held back a bit by his lack of a three point shot (54% TS% last year is around league average). Still, Gus has a good deal of hype around him, probably still has some upside left, and doesn't really have any concrete weaknesses. He's a top 10 PG for sure, with a real solid shot of being elite in the coming years, but he isn't quite there yet.
12. Tree Rollins C 23 7'1'' 235 B+ C D A- B+ B
He's not the scorer Marvin Barnes is, but he's less turnover prone and younger. He doesn't seem to really have superstar type upside, but he's just so well rounded as a big that it'd be hard to pass up a guy like him. The rebounding could be a bit better for the rating, but that's the closest thing I have to a complaint.
11. M.L. Carr SF 27 6'6'' 205 A- A- C+ A B+ D
Is it just me, or does M.L. only being 27 seem wrong? I expected him to be 29 or even 30 when I went to the Nets roster, but to my surprise M.L. is still quite young. Last year he broke out in a big way, going from essentially a glorified role player to a guy carrying the team's scoring load. He's not as efficient as some other guys out there, but his all around game is impressive and clearly has a big impact on games. As close to a flawless player as you'll find at this point of the list.
