Skillz is one of the best gms in the league. Just ask him and he will tell you. Of course if you ask him where he ranks he will duck the question. Skillz is used to winning and probably very bored at this point of the season.
You seem to hate tanking. What is your tanking philosophy? How many years are you planning on rebuilding? How many of your current players do you see being on the post tank Knicks?
My tanking philosophy is it should only be done under worst case scenarios. I think any GM that solely relies on tanking to build contenders (I'll call out CC and Martinez here) are getting more credit than they deserve. Tanking for 3 years and building contenders is too easy to me and does not require much skill. With that said, if your team has little value, sometimes you have no choice but to get your picks back and tank (which i'm doing this year). I plan on rebuilding for one or two years max....if i hit a big FA in the offseason and land Magic or Bird, i'll compete right away. If not--i'll need one more year to build up assets.
I expect zero current Knicks to be on the post-tank Knicks. Not that they're not going to be good players, but I tend to trade my rebulding pieces for 27-28 yr old all-stars. Maybe Aaron James will make my roster .
Any regrets taking Birdsong over TR Dunn? Who will have the better career?
No. Pretty sure BIrdsong has higher value around the league right now. Dunn is a good player and would fit my system potentially, but i think he's more of a product of RC/Ac's and has a clear ceiling. i think Birdsong has more upside to be an elite scorer. He was doing great #'s and %'s when i was running an outside offense. He took a huge hit when i went inside. (ed note - Skillz is clearly lying)
Will Bill Willoughby be able to start on a playoff team? Besides the blocks he looks pretty bad
Easily. Big Bill is pretty great, and i might revise my prior statement saying he could start for us when we contend. However, i'll probably have to trade his value to add an elite guy. How does he look pretty bad? He's a nice offensive player, elite shot blocker, can steal, and his rebounding isn't horrible. 15 ppg 9 rpg 4 bpg 1 spg on 45%? And hes' 20 years old with "A" potential? He's a great piece.
Which Insane are we going to get this time around? The Insane who took the Grizz to multiple championships or the one who had an undistinguished stint with the Heat?
Probably the Insane we saw with the Heat or something in between. He's going to be very proactive to turn that grizzlies team around and I don't remember insane ever being super proactive. He's a good GM if he's in a good situation and can stay elite for a while, but he's not the type to turn a shitty situation into something great.
Rank the following - Aar, dj, skillz, broph, jordan
Not gonna rank myself, as to not sound cocky, and i've been asked the same kind of question a number of times. I think broph aar and I are on a similar level. Just depends what you value in a GM. But:
1. Broph
2. Aar
3. Jordan
4. DJ
(ed note - pretty weak that you ducked the question regarding yourself)
5 straight 60 win seasons with losses in the finals or 4 meh years and a ship?
Tough question. I'd say if you already have a title, I'd go with option # 1. It means you're elite and unlucky. If you don't have a title, the second option is better just from a bragging type of thing. But yea, probably the 5 straight 60 win seasons.....it mean you are a top tier GM.
Who are the 5 most entertaining posters in the league?
Andy--Love his Gifs
Habes--I think he's funny and pretty self-deprecating. Can get defensive sometimes which is also pretty funny.
Broph--Can be annoying but he's one of the more insightful guys in the league.
Play--Blank statements, but he still backs them up with his resume.
Martinez--He's also the most annoying, but he's a huge value guy for the league.
Where does Don buse rank in the top pg discussion?
He should be in the top ten. Obviously I overvalued him to get value--which I did!--but he's legitimately really good. If his ratings matched his production, he'd have terrific value. He can score efficiently, doesn't turn the ball over, and is an elite defender. It's also not like he lacks PER D--he's a good perimeter defender with bad drive defense. His only weakness to me is his rebounding.
I'm really bored with these types of interviews and I'm not adding porn, any other ideas?
Gifs. Maybe think about some thoughtful questions. Stir up the pot. Compare GM's to rappers. Interview Spence! (ed note - Interview Spence YEEEEEEEE)
Your pick is currently 3rd. who are your top 6?
Why would i tell you this? Magic then Bird than everyone else. The two C's might be there, Cheeks, Purvis, Mitchell? (ed note - again, skillz is clearly lying)
Jay's team has done well the last few sims. Barring injury does he make his cy? What do you think of Jay's performance the last 3 years?
Yeah, he'll make it. Not enough GM's are competing so it shouldn't be hard for him at all. His team is also decent enough. And Jay has been mediocre at best, like i've said a million times before. He is too timid but I think he is learning (hopefully?)
Who is getting this ac?
My rookie.
word association –
Play – Confident
Hype – Irrelevant
Repole – Measured
Marty – Napoleonic
Styro - Poser
HF - Poser
Bucks-Blazers finals? If not, who do you see getting there?
I get a weird feeling the Bucks aren't getting there. I feel like Aar should have stuck with what he had at the beginning and just worked on the DC--he knew the players were there. They have been relatively dissapointing. I think we'll see a Bulls-Blazers final, just a gut feeling. I like Broph's team more than anyone else's in the league (ed note - smh at the nuggets not being mentioned).
Any gms you want to call out for stuff they do/don't do?
Styro and HF are not good enough GM's to be talking shit. HF is straight horrible, and Styro hasn't been able to really win with an incredible team. Both add nothing to the league other than sucking off Play whenever Play wants.
Also would like to publicly say I don't have a problem with DBW. Think he's a good GM even though I apparently lit a fire in him. Also upset he won't give me Sonny.
Marty's team has been on fire since getting Webb and Walker. What did you think of the moves in general and can the Cavs compete with the Bucks/Bulls/76ers?
I think Martinez had to make those moves, but it's more of a product of the Cavs not starting the way they should have and the lack of the teams in the East competing. The cavs aren't elite at all and should lose in the first or second round I'd think. Webb is a good player though.
What about Charlotte? Where do they fit into the East race?
I think they are probably the 3rd best team? Thurmond took a hit, but with Hayes back, the Bobcats have the talent to contend if they make a couple of moves. With so many teams giving players away for free, you'd think UK would be able to acquire some depth guys that could put them over the top.
What do you think of the sg rule which is starting next year? What one rule would you change or add?
I think it's a fine rule. I never had a problem witth the lack of rule in the first place---every Gm has the same opportunity to take advantage of it. I don't think I'd add or change any rules at this point. We all have the same opportunity to use the laws of the BBS to our advantage.
