Aar is one of the most liked gms and one of the most well respected ones in spite of a poor overall record. He is the favorite to win the ship this year but has set himself up to take a ton of heat if he doesn't.
What do you think of all the interviews lately? Should there be some kind of limit set?
I like them. They give me something to read in my spare time and teaches you more about the other GMs and their methodologies.
I don't think that there should be a limit, however, I think that writing 10 questions is a lot easier than answering 10 questions.
That said, I think that ACs are beneficial, but that they won't make or break a player.
You seem to have assembled more talent than Repole but as of yet you seem to be having less success? thoughts?
My defense isn't clicking as well as Repole's did. Our opponents are shooing 45% from the field, whereas Repole held his opponents to around 40%.
Also, all of Repole's players were more efficient and that's why I made the Cowens/Rudy T. swap. I think that Rudy is a far more efficient overall player than Cowens and that Lamar Green is a better overall defender than Cowens (although I have no proof to back that up).
Right now, I'm switching my focus to offensively obliterating other teams and not worrying as much about defense. I think that my starting five are strong enough offensively that I can just overwhelm other teams.
How many years will Bingo be a Buck?
Hopefully until he retires. If he doesn't re-sign on his own, I'm going to pay him huge money. He's the type of player that will always be good, even until he's 39, so I have no qualms about paying him big money.
Your team has been dominating at home but pretty average on the road? anomaly?
I wish that I knew. If we keep losing road games, I'm going to have to make some more changes and tweaks. It's really frustrating to see us utterly dominate at home and play average basketball on the move.
Are you happy with your team as is or are you planning another move?
I'm happy, but there's one more move that I'd really like to make, which is Jack Marin for a nice backup. That said, Shumate was really good last sim and I'm not overly worried. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. Jack Marin was awesome as a starter and I don't seem to have any takers.
Didn't really like the Cowens trade. Walk me through your thought process?
I mentioned it a bit above, but I'll elaborate. Cowens wasn't fitting the mold of my team. His shooting was awful and while he was hitting the boards and blocking shots, I felt that Lamar Green could contribute the same without taking as many shots and being a liability offensively.
In an inside offense, I love adding an "A" inside guy who can defend like Rudy T.
Rudy is also only 28 and he was absolutely awesome last sim. He shot 50% or more in almost every game and he locked down on Pistol Pete when we played the Hornets.
Who is this ac going to ?
Probably Rudy T.'s blocking, although I'm undecided.
The drafts have been getting harder to decipher the last few years. Is this good or bad?
I love it. The aura of mystery is fantastic and I love seeing the different mock drafts. The last draft was excellently put together and was so hard to project. I don't think any of the mock drafts were even close. My pre-notes mock draft may have been the closest.
Bird or Magic?
Magic. I love that you can play him at PG and that he'll do everything from that position. That said, Oscar Robertson was very similar and he wasn't really a winner.
Bird's lack of blocking makes him a less than ideal power forward, but I imagine he'll be moved to small forward at some point.
I'm definitely leaning Magic in a big way though.
Is George Trapp as good as Repole claimed?
Yes. He just doesn't do anything wrong. He's incredibly efficient, rarely turns it over, rebounds, gets the occasional steal, hits his free throws. He's an awesome energy guy off the bench. I was actually thinking of starting him and running Rudy as the backup at 5/4/3/2, but Rudy was so good last sim, so I'll probably stick with what I'm doing.
name 3 gms who overrate their players for real and 3 who just like to Broph?
Three guys who overrate their players for real are:
Skillz - he overrates his players like crazy until he gets absurd value and then pretends like he never cared about them.
Hype - Thinks Gene Moore is the messiah
Jay - Boswell? Really?
Guys who just like to Broph are:
Broph - 80% of the time it's warranted, it's just that he does it so much.
Play - He rarely trades his best players unless he is absolutely winning the deal.
Marty - When he has a good player, he knows it and he'll let you know it too.
Bucks or Blazers?
Bucks. I really like the Blazers, but I don't think that they can hang with us in a seven game series. I think that our margin of error is far lower.
DJ or Webb?
Webb. Webb, despite his new, bad contract is one of the most underrated point guards in league history because he was trapped in Raptor-land for awhile. I thought hard about making him an offer, but couldn't justify it when I had Buse for so cheap already.
which 2 gms would you fire?
Right now, I'm pretty happy with the crop of GMs that we have, but gun to my head, Outlawz and DJ. They're the two least active. I like both of them and I wish that they did more.
Which 2 gms do you like the least?
Marty and Hype. Marty's antics are hilarious, but he crosses the line sometimes. Hype, I dislike his attitude.
rank – gus, foots, money, mrr, sobers, mccarter?
Money - no question
Gus - Future superstar
Foots - Vastly underrated. Does it all.
MRR - Becoming a complete player, but the turnovers need to improve
McCarter - Efficient, but dislike his lack of rebounding
Sobers - Terrible.
Ilovebball or duke
Duke. He seems to really know what he's doing. Ilovebball is starting to get his feet wet, but I think duke is ahead of him right now in terms of confidence.
