Let's consider the 2047 draft. Though it promises to be unpredictable without a clear-cut number one choice, we will do our best job of coming up with a realistic draft scenario:
1. Phoenix Suns-- Bernard King SF 6'7'' 205 20 A- C D+ C C A
Outlawz is a Knicks fan, so I'm thinking he picks King here. The Suns have nothing on their roster, and King makes the most sense for a team that is simply looking for a franchise player/scorer. BK promises to be the most potent scorer in the draft, and will be a nice piece for the Suns to start with and RC/AC through the moon. King could be a 30 ppg scorer with attention and a big-time SF for 15-20 years.
2. Indiana Pacers--Michael Cooper SG 6'5'' 170 21 C+ C+ C+ B C+ A
This would be an interesting choice for Biggie. On one hand, the Pacers already have English on the wing, but combining English with another promising stud at the SG/SF could be even more appealing than adding a big like Sickma. If I'm Biggie, I go with Cooper, and keep the Cooper/King duo for the foreseeable future....the guards are easy to find, you can't underestimate the benefit of having two elite wing men.
3. Boston Celtics--Jack Sikma C 6'11'' 230 22 C+ B D+ B B+ A
To me, this is the easy choice here. If any team was already filled with good players and was picking No. 1, Sickma would also be my pick. He's going to be sick--he's an elite post defender, can shoot and rebound very well, and is extremely strong. Even though he can't block shots, his other strengths should makeup for that. I think he'll be the most valuable player in this draft 5 years from now.
4. Atlanta Hawks--Norm Nixon PG 6'2'' 170 22 C+ C+ B B+ D A
Jay is set at the wings and has some nice bigs, so Nixon is the obvious choice here. He fills a need and is the best point guard in the draft. With some development, I can see Nixon as a B- B+ A- A D+ type at least, which would be a welcome sign to a relatively talented team that is starting Fatty Taylor at PG.
5. Washington Wizards--Marques Johnson SF 6'7'' 218 21 B+ C+ C B- C A
Though his ratings don't scream intrigue to me, Johnson had great notes and should be a really good player. There are already a lot of players like him in the league, but he's the sure-fire choice here. Whenever you get a guy who will surely be a 20+ ppg scorer and a complete player everywhere else, you take him at No.5
6. New York Knicks (via Hornets)-- Terry Tyler PF 6'7'' 215 21 B- C D+ A C+ B
It depends what direction the Knicks go in here. They could try to compete for another year, in which case a blocking and stealing stud like Tyler would be a nice selection, or they could try and take a potential pick like Davis or Birdsong if they go directly into rebuild mode.
7. San Antonio Spurs--Kent Benson C 6'10'' 235 22 B- C- D+ B- B- A
The Spurs have a beautiful young core, and can afford to take a flier on a guy like Benson. They have MRR/Campy at their disposal, so adding another big seems like the way to go here. If Benson has potential, those starting ratings should translate really well. He looks similar to Lloyd Neal as a rookie.
8. Cleveland Cavaliers--Walter Davis SG 6'6'' 193 23 B B C+ C+ D+ A
Martinez has a really nice team and has good prospects on the wing, but there isn't a big or point guard to pick at this spot. Martinez should either trade down or out at this point, as Davis is purely the value pick here. Maybe he reaches for Brad Davis?
9. Phoenix Suns (from Memphis)--Otis Birdsong SG 6'3'' 190 21 B+ B C C D+ A
Outlawz needs to go with potential big upside guys, and Birdsong is one of them. He's already a huge inside scorer, and he has range out to the three point line. The fact that he could be an A- A- scorer after one TC is extremely exciting. And even though Birdsong clearly has some weaknesses, we're already sitting at the bottom of the lottery.
10. Dallas Mavericks--Wayne Cooper C 6'10'' 220 20 C+ C- D+ A- B B
Cooper is a no-risk selection. We already know he's going to be a starter in the league for 10-15 years, that he can block shots and defend the post, and he's a solid rebounder. Do you want to start a rebuild around him? No. But at this point in the draft he's a great pick.
11. Houston Rockets--Brad Davis PG 6'3'' 180 21 B B B C D+ B
Davis has a lot going for him: He's a great scorer, he's really quick, and he doesn't turn it over. He can't defend, but any point guard who can score and handle has to be considered a starter (despite what his notes say), so I'd say he's a pretty safe pick at # 11
12. San Antonio Spurs (from 76ers)--T.R. Dunn SG 6'4'' 192 22 B C C A- C+ A
Wow, the Spurs have a nice young core. 2 lottos, MRR, Campy? Hard not to be envious of that position. Anyways, Dunn looks like he'll be a career-long producer and he has Butch-Beard like upside it would seem. Dunn is the only high-potential, low-risk guy left, and would probably be a steal if he actually lasts this long.
13. Washington Wizards (from Pistons)--Kenny Carr PF 6'7'' 220 22 B C D B- B+ B
This pick may not be lotto for long, but we'll forget that for now. Carr had some really nice notes, and I could envision him as a starter in the long run. Even though he can't block, he can make A- inside pretty easily and can already rebound and post defend pretty well. There are a lot of guys like Carr, but whose to say grabbing a starter at # 13 isn't a bad thing?
