BBS Weekly
Vol. 1
B-I-N-G-O and Bingo is his name-o.
With a 34-1 record, the Orlando Magic are on pace to making BBS history.
While it's doubtful that they win 80 games, the Magic are on a torrid pace this season, to the point that certain Eastern Conference teams have five-year plans and have given up for the foreseeable future.
With averages of 39.8 ppg 10.0 rpg 4.3 apg 1.7 spg 3.7 bpg, Smith is putting up the best stat line in league history.
There's almost no doubt that, barring an injury to Smith, the Magic end up having the best record in BBS history.
The New Orleans Hornets made some noise around BBS last week, acquiring Dave Cowens, Steve Mix and Butch Beard all in the same day.
The trio can make them competitive in the West, but at what cost?
As a result of the deal, the Hornets gave up significant pieces of their future including future picks and David Thompson.
Nets GM Nanz weighed in on the moves, saying "Beard is actually pretty damn good and Cowens is a very nice big to have. He also has a very nice point guard is Andre which means he can deal D'Antonie for a solid player at a different position. Mix is also putting up nice numbers so far this season shooting over 51% and 23 ppg. He needs more rebounding but i think thats something he can get in the off-season pretty easily. The bottom of the west seems to be pretty weak so why not? I'll say he makes (the playoffs)."
Memphis sends: Bob Rule, Bill Willoughby, Jim Eakins, Mike Davis, 49, 51, 52 Grizzlies 1sts
Milwaukee sends: Darnell Hillman, Mike Gale, Jim McElroy*
The Grizzlies are staking their immediate future on this trade and with the exception of an unfortunately botched depth chart, the Grizzlies are a new-look team with an efficient, young scoring guard and one of the league's premier shotblockers.
The Bucks, however, are making moves for the future. Acknowledging that their championship aspirations will be down the road, the Bucks are focusing on the future.
Grizzlies' GM Pig said, "At this point I would rather make an awful trade than sit on my ass and do nothing. With that said I don't think it's that bad."
Warriors trade: Walt Hazzard, Mickey Johnson, Steve Hawes
Pistons trade: Calvin Murphy, Maurice McHartley
Two-time Hall of Famer Walt Hazzard has been traded to the Pistons.
While Hazzard's best days are behind him, he gives the Pistons a chance at making the playoffs.
The Warriors have gotten younger with this deal, but acquire the struggling Murphy.
Warriors GM CC feels that Murphy will fit better in the team's outside system.
BBS breathed a collective sigh of relief when 76ers GM dewaynec was found.
The 76ers GM went missing and was replaced by interim GM duke, who was fairly active while he was away.
Upon his return, dewaynec took over the team, which he is looking to turn into a playoff team or risk being replaced.
Should he be replaced, duke looks to be the obvious choice.
dewaynec commented on his return: "I feel like I built this team to be what it is now and if I were just to be ousted because my internet went out, it would have sucked for me, and I would have never got to see if I had a chance or not, so I look at it moreso from my perspective than his. Hopefully he gets a team to build of his own soon."
