Who: Bingo Smith
Why wouldn't I? The man that has made repole the greatest GM of the 19th, 20th and 21th century continues to run through the league. Somehow, he didn't win player of the month the first time around. This time, he made sure to take it home. Currently averaging 41.4 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.7 spg and 3.9 bpg on great shooting percentages, Bingo is trying to lead the 1 loss Magic into the record books yet again. As
On the other side of the fence, we have Dick Snyder. If you really look at the ride this dude has had over the last season, it's simply amazing. Last season, he averaged 29.2 ppg, 7 apg and 4.4 rpg on 48% from the field. He was playing for the Knicks and was called, by skillz, a better player then Glock. Come the off season, as a FA, Snyder for whatever reason, decides to leave the Knicks and signs with the Cavs. Recently, he was traded to the Jazz, where talent goes to die (or at least, get forgotten). Snyder was already having a sub par season and on Day 39, it got a million times worse when he tore his ACL. His regular season is over and while he could return for the playoffs, well, the Jazz have to make it there. Either way, it's been an interesting ride for Snyder.
What: Tanking wars
The Cavs and Rockets have gone a combined 0-20 in there last 20 games. Cavs have lost 11 in a row while the Rockets have lost 10 in a row. Not to be beaten (or defeated?) the Celtics and Suns have both gone 1-9 in their last 10. As of right now, the Suns look like the odds on favorites to win the worst record in the league but it's going to be a fight for that 2nd pick.
Speaking of tanking, maybe we should get into why these teams are tanking this year. While the draft won't blow you away, there are definitly some interesting guys this year. The King is obviously a guy many will want. Can Skilma fight off the negative mystic of the "bigs with outside scoring"? The most interesting player of the bunch though is Michael Cooper. The ratings look solid and the notes scream big time talent. Whenever a player has a big time asterisk (he cannot be moved to PG), pick him. Usually a positive. Oh and look out for those Warriors selected players.
When: May 21
On this day, the Hornets picked up three band new players. Butch Beard from the Knicks, Steve Mix from the Mavs and Dave Cowens from the Warriors. While I won't knock a GM for going for it and while the deals themselves weren't bad, it was a bit of an odd and out there change of pace. The biggest thing going for the Hornets and the biggest unkept secret in the league is how horrid the bottom of the West tends to be. With the Hornets and Grizzlies fighting for that 8th spot, it should be an interesting battle down the stretch. Speaking of the Grizzlies, they haven't been all that quiet themselves, picking up big time shot blocker Darnell Hillman from the Bucks.
Why: Y U SUCK?!
So the Sixers GM was fired or quit. Whatever it was that happened, I'm sure there was a huge sigh of relief held around the BBS headquarters. While I obviously have not done the greatest of jobs, I feel it safe to say that this GM did nothing of value in his time here. Didn't even seem to care that his contract year was coming up and his free agent strategy seemed odd, to say the least. I would talk about his trades but, I don't recall any of importance. With all that said, he did have decent talent on the roster. Could've been built from the dj mold (no activity, just gets it done). Odd person indeed though. Good luck to the new guy!
Speaking of sucking, fuck you Calvin Murphy you sucky asshole. With career lows in ppg, FG% and 3pt%, your making Scott look less and less like the ratings asshole that he is. Step it up, jerk.
Where: Philadelphia
Sorry to all the Orlando Magic fans. They shall not be running the table this year. Philadelphia is the place where the mighty Orlando Magic got taken down, losing to Philly by 3 in overtime. If Spencer had HTML checked and he took a look, I'm sure the game was won at the last second by a game winner. The biggest stand out for Philly this game was Gervin, giving the 76ers 30 points on 15/20 shooting. That's 75% from the field against the Magic. Pretty decent IMO. He also added 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block. Willie Davis definitely held his own in the game but apparently, it wasn't enough. Look at it this way Magic fans, the Magic are still undefeated in non OT games. That has to count for something, right? Also, undefeated at home. Good luck with those streaks guys.
How: Warnings?!
How the fuck did we get a "proboards" warning and how are we supposed to live without funny gifs? Like, even now. I want to post a funny gif. I can't though. What kind of shit is this? Who can I complain to about this?
Gif complains aside, how can't we keep any consistency as far as GM's go? We have guys getting fired for racial shit. Guys quitting out of no where after just getting hired. The fuck is going on around here? Would be nice to go a few seasons with the same guys. Won't be shocked if it doesn't happen though.
