1. Indiana Pacers
Micheal Ray Richardson PG 6'5'' 189 21 B C A- A- C+ A
Pacers are currently the worse team in the league...At this pick, there are many top prospects to choose from, but I see Biggie selecting MRR #1... They might make another choice and select one of the top C's or SF in Dantley, but IMO, MRR's notes screams out #1.. At age 21, MRR provides all the skills and tools to become an elite PG in this league.. MRR would have to work on his ball handling but hopefully that wouldn't be a big problem in the long run... Great PG's are rare to have in this league, so Pacers make the right choice here.
2. New Orleans Hornets
Adrian Dantley SF 6'5'' 208 20 A- C+ D+ C+ C+ A
Hornets select the best forward in the draft in Dantley... IMO, Dantley could have gone #1 based on his notes... At age 20, he enters the league with a BBS ready game for a wing man... He can do it all...Obviously he would need to work on his defense, but I'm sure he'll get better there with rc and ac help.. Adding him next to David Thompson could make the Hornets a scary offensive team for the future.
3. Los Angeles Lakers (via Phoenix)
Robert Parish C 7'0'' 230 23 B- C- D B B A
Rounding out the top 3, I see the Lakers selecting one of the top center prospects in the draft in Parrish.. They could make another pick and select Tree Rollins, but between the two, I see Parish becoming the better overall player.. Adding him next to Bob Lanier will give the Lakers one of the best front courts in the league.. At age 23, Parrish should enter the league BBS ready and help LA contend next year.
4. Cleveland Cavaliers
Tree Rollins C 7'1'' 235 21 B- C D- A- B- A
Rollins is hands down the next best available player at this pick.. CAVS lack a legit center on their roster so Rollins is a perfect fit for them.. At age 21, he will have a lot of time to improve on the rebuilding CAVS.
5. Philadelphia 76ers
Alex English SG 6'7'' 190 22 B+ C+ C C C A
After the top 4, Sixers select the next best available player in Alex English... Although Sixers would have loved any of the top 4 selected before them, English will provide Philly with scoring and rebounding in the backcourt.. However, I don't see Sixers keeping this pick since their GM will be in their CY next season...Expect English to be dealt for veteran help.
6. Boston Celtics (via Minnesota)
James Edwards C 7'0'' 225 20 B C- D B- C+ A
This is when the draft becomes unpredictable... After the obvious top 5 it's pretty much selecting best available or drafting for need... Edwards is probably the next best available player at #6...At age 20, he enters the league with a great post up game with amazing strength.. He also has many weaknesses but if his true potential is very high, the sky is the limit for this kid.
7. Portland Trail Blazers
Dennis Johnson PG 6'4'' 185 22 B C C+ A- C B
Brophdog seems to covet players that can block AND steal, so I see them selecting Dennis Johnson who can provide just that... I see Johnson becoming a Carl Cole type player in this league.. Johnson will be too good to pass up, especially having those two attributes.. A defensive back court of Bobby Jones and Dennis Johnson will be tough to score on.
8. Chicago Bulls
John Lucas PG 6'3'' 175 23 C B B+ A- D B
Bulls add a talented PG prospect at this pick... I think Lucas is the best available at this pick, especially for a PG.. I think Lucas will give Chicago great PG depth... However, this pick could also be traded for veteran help, especially if play enters his CY next season.
9. Boston Celtics
Quinn Buckner PG 6'3'' 190 22 B- C+ B- A C- B
After selecting Edwards #6, I see Boston selecting a PG in Quinn Buckner... He enters the league as a very good defender with great quickness... Celtics are in rebuild mode so adding Edwards and Buckner would be a great start to build around over the next couple years.
10. Milwaukee Bucks
Sonny Parker SF 6'6'' 200 21 B+ C C+ A- C+ B
At this pick, I see the Bucks selecting a nice looking wing in Parker... His notes are impressive for a wing but will probably need to develop a 3 pt shot to become a legit wing in this league.. Bucks could make another selection or trade out but I don't see them passing up a player like Parker.
11. San Antonio Spurs
Alvin Scott SF 6'7'' 185 21 B- C C A C B
The draft is dwindling in top talent... At this pick, I see the Spurs selecting a very good wing defender in Scott... He can block and steal, which is a great commodity to have in this league... He also has great quickness and ball handling...I see Scott becoming a very nice 6th man in this league...Spurs are rebuilding so adding a 21 yo small forward is a good start.
12. Houston Rockets (via Atlanta)
Johnny Davis PG 6'2'' 170 21 B C+ C+ B C- B
Houston are aging in their back court so I expect them to pick a nice looking PG in Davis.. He has a solid inside game with good handles... If he develops well, I see him taking over the starting role after Dampier is done.
13. Milwaukee Bucks (via Memphis)
Bob Wilkerson SG 6'6'' 195 22 B B C C+ C B
Wilkerson strikes me as a player with a BBS ready game...His scoring is very balanced for a rookie...His notes also indicate that he can get steals + he has upside... I think Wilkerson could end up a steal at this pick and probably one of the better picks in this draft... Based on all this, I think Wilkerson deserves to be a lottery pick in this draft.
