20 Shots
The gym darkens.
The once hissing lights, now a delicate whisper.
The rhythm of a single bouncing ball bellows from the floor to kiss the walls.
2 men remain.
"20 shots left..." says a voice, "make 'em count!"

Who are you?
Apparently well hated GM of the Milwaukee Bucks, for now I guess, whether it be because of the Blazers or my inevitable Contract Year'd status.
What makes you tick?
Not even sure how to answer this one....pretty sure my Heart, love sports, competition etc......
What does BBS provide for you?
Ive always preferred franchise modes on sports games, problem is the CPU is a bit dumb...going against other people is far more entertaining, regardless...competition, and other mostly fun people, conversations about sports etc...its pretty much an ideal fantasy sports game.
What do you contribute to BBS?
Consistency, Im one of the most active members, I win when I choose to win, draft mod etc. I put together great teams and dont languish in the mid to low seeds for years.
Why should you get the Blazers? What's to stop this move from setting a precedent of team switching (other than Spencer)?
Well, I proposed switching to the Wests before I began this rebuild, and funnily enough I thought Dan would be in a good position, of course, then I realized he had only two years left on his CY so it kinda went by the wayside, and I began my rebuild. I have been a fan of the Blazers for my entire life, and thought it would be neat to get the Blazers...I didnt go PMing Spencer about the Blazers, he asked if I would want them. It has nothing to do with Moses, I was still gonna take them with Chet and Nate etc. And there is already precedent here, DBW and Styro both switched to their favorite teams (Celtics, Lakers respectively), so its not like this is some first time this has ever happened or something.
Wouldn't starting a new GM with a player like Moses be ideal?
Yeah, if he had everything else in place, but is it better than starting off with a bunch of picks, tons of cap, and the ability to build the team the way you want? i wouldnt think so, the guy has Moses, but is unproven in BBS, has no picks for his first three years, no cap, and nothing really great outside that. The guy would be stuck trading Moses, or being mediocre for his first three years, and it seems like a guy having to come in and deal Moses as his first move would be a bit worrisome.
As a BBS veteran, do you feel any connection to other GMs (Past or Present)?
I miss Tiger, mainly cause of the Top Gear discussions and because he was solidly active, and put together very good teams...he was a bit stubborn in trade talks sure, but he was a smart GM. I liked Dan as a GM in UOSL too, so no doubt I hate seeing him go in a sense. Ive only been doing this though for four years I think, so a lot of GM's I never really had the experience of seeing in their prime. GM's like Mark, Ducky, ashes, etc...active GM's, who know what they are doing.
Will you ever win a championship again? How?
I would bet so, I gt a bit lazy with DC's with that last team, but Ive got what, 4 conference finals appearances in the last 9 seasons? I can still put together a great team, losing Larry Jones like that just set me back a bit, caught me off guard, and as such Im working on it. I need to work with my DC all year, rather than be content just riding out a winning team...I just got lazy...not thinking about moving Wilt to C against Mel Daniels is the kinda thing you cant get away with at all, and definitely a large part of why I kept failing in the playoffs.
Who is the biggest threat to you in the West?
Seems like you shoulda traded this one out for East, dependent, but sadly it may well be Marty. As much as I hate the way he is, he is now one of the better GM's in the west, and, really is probably the most consistent at going from rebuilding to winning. maybe he keeps his windows shorter, but, he always seems to get a ton of sick young talent, and is getting better about putting the teams together in a fashion that makes sense.
With the PG rule and now the SG rule, do you think BBS is becoming too strict?
Nope, I hate the exploiting of FBB oddities...I mean, no way should a player with lesser passing make for a better PG than a guy with worse, but, its the way FBB is, so limiting the ability to take guys and stick them there makes sense...and playing players like Willie Davis at SG defeats Spencers purpose of making the guys...its fun to make SG like bigs, quicker, can defend the perimeter etc, but can rebound great.. problem is, letting them pplay SG where the rebounding is intentionally limited in the program defeats the purpose...the guy doesnt have an outside shot, he has no business playing SG with that rebounding, he is a big/SF. I mean, let Spencer make those guys as exceptions to the rule...I have no problems with Repole playing Willie Davis at SG, he won on the same rules as all of us, and its legal right now, but, I will be much happier once the rule goes in effect.
Other than the obvious, what is your general philosophy regarding a rebuilding roster?
Shit rebounding, a shit PG, and turnovers. 2 of those 3 comibined with a complete lack of D...However, starting to think it may be all of those three...dunno how my team won so damn much this year, hhell I was starting 4 turnovers in 27 minutes, had a decent big sure, but my SG was just blegh, no real SF's...to much in the way of role players I guess.
472 Rick Mount PG 26 6'3'' 175 C B- C C F+ F
455 Larry Cannon SG 26 6'4'' 195 B A- C- B+ C- B
622 Julian Hammond SF 30 6'5'' 205 B C- C- A- C+ D
388 Mike Green C 22 6'10'' 200 B C C- B C+ B
174 Larry McNeill C 22 6'9'' 195 B+ C D+ B+ B- A
I mean, Green is shit, so what the hell is that 25 wins for. Julian Hammond you fucker
Cannons percentages were sick too I guess, especially from 3. Still, meh.
You land the 1st pick. George Gervin or Bill Walton?
Gonna have a hard time getting me to take Gervin, I just feel, and this plays into your next question, but with so many wings, Im better off risking it on a guy who should be an excellent big, I dont care what his Jump Shot is like. He can block, appears to be solid inside, rebounds etc. Bigs are tough to find, Wings no where near as much. There are plenty of wings to go around, but nowhere near the Bigs.
What do you believe is the most diluted position in BBS?
PF is pretty damned weak, no doubt about that, and every team has to have two bigs, plus a great backup type, especially to be a contender...its what drives the ccrazy market for bigs...there isnt much of a middle ground, people seem to have stopped valuing defensive type bigs other than a few picks, which is odd since they are extremely important to the team. On the other side of the equation, there are a ton of SG;s, pretty obvious, and that completely kills the market for them, so many studs out there, I mean, the top 6 is DVA, Brown, Skeeter, Monroe, Carr, Barnett...all really a best SG in the league type back in 2000.
Pick a GM to praise.
UK, shockingly he is still here, no disappearing yet, despite some mistakes, and he has what looks to be a lot of youth coming with this next draft. He has doone a very nice job when a lot of people figured he wouldnt do shit
Pick a GM to scold.
Biggie...I just wont get the Cazzie Russell deal, its like you arent paying attention to every other GM in the league, or the talking etc. Everybody knows Cazzie sucks, and a D+ rebounding SF is asking for a disaster, there were any number of other moves you coulda done, and you did one in the bottom 10 of what you could do....every time you make what appears to be a great move, you back it up with something that just makes no sense whatsoever, and sets your franchise way back.
Rate your BBS career (current incarnation only) from 0-10 and explain that rating.
Meh, I mean, I love that I have 3 titles, but Im disappointed as of late in myself. Do I feel like Ive been one of the best GM's in this iteration (and the only iteration Ive ever been in.)? yeah, but, as of late Ive lost the title edge, I can put together sick teams, but then Im too afraid to make the wrong DC move, or do this, I get complacent etc, rather than look to see how I can fix my team, and thats just dumb, too much fear. 8 I guess.
Would you be in favor of a BBS restart to correct the inflation common to FBB leagues, such as amplified scoring, blocks, and steals?
Nah, there are other solutions, and I fear what a restart would do to the GM core. The historical files are great, the only thing being the predicatbility of the drafts, there really isnt much in the way of shock, nobody comes outta nowhere, til maybe this last draft, and guys dont really just bust, you tank and land in the top 3, you pretty much know you are set.
Great defense or Great offense?
I've always been of the belief that great D is far more consistent than great O in FBB, so I feel like Great Defense is better. Not to mention those games where you shut the other opponent down are just as fun as the 140 point games. I think its easier to luck into offense with a great D, than it is to outscore the other team over a 7 game series with shitty O.
Thoughts on Pace? Trap? Press? Focus? When do you increase/decrease each and why?
Slower if my offense is mediocre, faster with slow players (though I really dont understand this one, I just think it works better) Faster with outside scorers, slower with inside scoring bigs. really I dunno about trap and press, tend to leave them normal, maybe dumping them if I have foul issues, or a team has turnover problems. for Focus, I think if I have great scoring in the post Inside, great PG/Wiing scoring outside, and a more balanced focus well, balanced.
Say anything here.
How the hell did you not put together a team using all that youth...you cant sit and wait for the offers you like to come to you. and overall, I hate that GM's tend to be afraid to make that last deal to get a title, they fear making that big move in hopes of preserving a dynasty type team, but, what they fail to realize is, in looking around, that never happens. Nobody really is ever able to preserve a team full of youth and make it win a title, the Play's of the league understand that, he doesnt sit on youth, he makes trades instead that make him better, make him a title contender. Sure, there is nothing wrong with holding onto a guy or two, but, those second tier guys? you are better off getting an aging vet at 32 who can still play at a high level, making that run at a title that way. Winning a title is what matters in the end.
Interview's Retort: Seems like you should've put this in the scolding. Sheesh. I don't disagree with anything here, though I find my peculiar teams with no expectations much more fun to GM. I could complain about my talent never developing on my team and driving down their value, but still more deals should've been made. Winning a title is the goal, but it's not the reason I'm in BBS, if that makes sense. I have to step it up.
I still don't regret not trading for Dave D. though. =)
